Love that Gilgamesh accidentally pulls Excalipoor, does a single strike for one damage, then is like 'Okay. Well then. I'll just hit you with it 1000 times at once.' Fair thee well Greg. Say hi to Durmin for us!
It's kind of genius, really. Especially because Excalipoor usually always does 1 damage, even if it's against infinite defense. He could pull that on some super bosses and really screw them up.
1000 Sword Slashes, Gilgamesh’s version of 1000 Needles. That also would put Gilgamesh in a Sans position of being weak but using trickery to make himself strong
For Dan's sake, I'm relieved that those four tasks in Meridian Ocean did turn out to be the Gilgamesh stuff (even though I would not have minded another day of him tooling around from island to island, looking for things to do). Also, I really liked that wrap-up on all the world intel stuff from Chadley! It did a good job of making all the optional side nonsense we've been up to feel important and related to the main theme of the story.
- i appreciate how well they managed to showcase Clouds personality without having him fully drop the stoic persona - what a better way to end the Sidequest extravaganza than with a good Fisticuffs against good ol' Greg - & off he goes to fight Durmin... oh wait ShadowBringers doesn't have a Hildebrand quest, i guess he will have to wait until the whole 9th Umbral Calamity gets sorted out - so... Chadley is pulling an Elizabeth Sobeck i see, hopefully he actually manages to avoid the Ted Faros of Shinra
Cloud's character development within the party animal questline outdoes his entire Remake arc! Dancing, fist bumps, high fives, initiating meaningful conversations....
17:27 so fun fact about the calligraphy that shows up as Gilgamesh speaks here, that was done by one of the devs that has a hobby of calligraphy outside their job! Reasons why you should always have hobbies outside whatever it is you do for work, especially if it’s any kind of creative pursuit! Never know when it’ll be handy for the job. :D
Tangentially related, in FFXIV there are a number of dance emotes to use. The "Flame Dance" motion capture was actually performed by a member of the quest design team that was familiar with that particular style of dance.
The Gilgamesh fight looked like a lot of fun, and that perfect sweet spot of difficulty. Needing to use all your cool abilities and stay active but not pulling out your hair or white knuckling the controller. Feeling challenged but confident, love that flow state.
And so ends the absurd amount of side content that is worth showing in a story playthrough of Rebirth. I am kind of in the camp that oh god why is there so freaking much of it, but it is overall fun to me to I can’t say I hate it either. Queen’s Blood is still the best of it all tho imo.
2:45 There will always be something funny about a "There can be only one, we must fight." scenario. It was cool once, when it involved guys hiding swords in trench coats, but it's usually just funny, because nothing is at stake. 5:35 Yea, dogeza does make for an amusing finisher, and it's weirdly appropriate here. 9:03 I would not want to be too close to this. Gilgamesh remains one of those "just a little too extra" for me. Wherever he shows up.
What, even when he pulls things like realizing he has a weapon that only does one damage, but always does one damage, thus "hey let's hit them a thousand times in quick succession."
The fact that the Shinra Middle Manager seemingly can beat the line of like ten Tonberry's again seemingly by himself makes me wonder why Sephiroth doesn't worry about him and also why you don't recruit him to help you save the world. I mean he had to do all this to win the party animal title right?

On the spot in wall market when faced by Andrea? Honestly i don't know about motorcycling too, can't imagine when he had the chance either before or after "five years ago"
Honestly, considering Cloud wanted to be seen as an accomplished cool person in SOLDIER first class, who’s to say that Cloud did not take up motorcycling at some point simply because he thought it would be fitting to ride into Nibelheim on a motorcycle and impress Tifa as the anime people SOLDIER first class are implied to be?
The cordial ending to Gilgamesh's quest, saying he hopes to see them again, makes me hope he'll be a summon next game. Edit: IF I'D WATCHED JUST 30 SECONDS MORE... 😆 Warriors of Light, do you suppose the implication is he's going straight from here to one of the battles in another FF game? Probably 5, given the music?

I can't wait to see where the saga of the middle manager goes in the next game.
my personal belief is that Greg leapt through the portal and immediately smashed into Hildebrand on the other side.

I may not think too highly of FFV, but I will always be grateful it gave us the recurring, silly, dangerous nonsense that is Gilgamesh.
_And_ his theme.
(And it's just a fun game; you can customize your party like nuts.)

Ah, so this is where Greg wound up after warping away with Inspector Hildabrand
If I didn't know any better, I woulda think CBU3 made this 😂

10:25 Shinra Middle Manager seems like he’s actually a pretty good boss!
And he's nice to have as your superior, too!
As a middle manager myself, I related to this line so much!
He does seem to care more about the company's wellbeing than all the Shinra bosses, aside from Reeve.

I agree! an actual FUN fight unlike a certain white haired dude with a gun lol
I know cloud is a strong boy but im still going to marvel at how strong he is. Just casually flipping around on his hands like its nothing.
"We've been doing side things and you've all been vary patient."
Psssh. As if this isn't exactly what we asked for. 😏
I wonder if when the "Dawntrail" Mandeville quests come around in another year, will greg have tales about when he met cloud?
He does seem to remember his journeys and occasionally reference them.
Pause buffering is absolutely the key for 3d brawler
Summoning Odin against Gilgamesh? I guess he wanted payback for FF VIII
Hey, it was Seifer that ended Odin; Gilgamesh just scavenged the remains...
i think that was the best moment in ff8!
Was not expecting the Gilgamesh quest to lead up to a super sentai gag
Yeah, 3D Brawler certainly isn't Punch-Out!!
I kinda wish it was... At least Punch-Out was simpler to control. Still a lot better than the purely luck-based minigame of the OG FF7...

It's finally time to face off against the King of Heroes-
Oh wait, wrong Gilgamesh😅
Yeah this island is especially tough if you want to do it as soon as chapter 13.
I habe been listening to this Battle on the Big Bridge arrangement nonstop. Send help.

18:55 Right there I heard Macho Man Randy Savage, specifically in his role as Rasslor in the cartoon "Dial M for Monkey".
Captain America "I understood that reference" gif goes here
GilgaMonday!
I love how this is basically greg 😂😂
I think it's been confirmed that it's the same gilgamesh in each title, so it IS Greg 😂
@@nerdy-wizard does it even need confirmation. He mentioned the warriors of light 😂

They could have used a greater variety of pictures for chadleys show
it was very funny the dramatic picture of Sephiroth then right next to it a picture of Cloud fighting some random monster

Gilgamesh needs backstory with Enkidu.. Time for him to shine as the gay icon we didn't know we needed.
Very good chance you could possibly finish the game this week?
If not this week, then next week for sure. Depends on how hefty he makes the episodes given it’s all MSQ ahead.
Where did Cloud learn to dance?

That, or heading back to Eorzea for another adventure with Inspector Hildibrand.
