Update 3: I sent off a oil analysis of the Amsoil OE for my 597,000 mile E-350 5.4 2V the result came back great after 3400 miles of use and a 2 year time period. Alu. 5 PPM, IRON 8 PPM, Chromium 0 PPM, Copper 2 PPM, Lead 0 PPM. Awesome result and my engine is still going strong.
@@repairvehicle Mostly short trips on the van to I was at least expecting some fuel and water and maybe a little extra wear but it ended up looking fine.
What was your base number? The base number goes down over time which is why normal recommendation is 1 year. (Or miles or run time in hours) I sent in some Signature series that only had 3500 miles but was 26 months old and it tested low.
I also have a LPG system on my car and that's why I use Amsoil. I fill my gas tank every 3-4 months and drive on gasoline otherwise it will sit too long and I will have problems. When I first got my car I did not had much knowledge on cars, oil, fluids etc. so I always ran on LPG for 1 year and the check engine light came on😂😂😂😂. Last year I did an oil flush, switched to Amsoil, I cleaned my throttle body twice, because it was full of crap and my pedal was sticking. I also cleaned the Maf sensor which also helped my car to run smoothly. I will never forgive myself when I put cheap semi-synthetic oil for the first time which was probably counterfeit(yeah, we have a lot of these bad boys here in Bulgaria). Thanks to Eben's channel and some other mechanics I started to gain a lot of knowledge and after changing and cleaning these parts my car is in very good shape. I believe after the Amsoil flush I removed a lot of carbon and gunk from the previous oil changes and the engine has no hesitations whatsoever. This winter I wanted to buy upper cylinder lubricant but sadly they don't have it here. I will buy another brand probably, because here the fuel quality is questionable and I change the fuel filter every 20,000 kms. I will probably flush my engine one last time if I feel some hesitations, but for 700 kms woth Amsoil it runs like a champ! I also changed my coolant and added the Amsoil booster and now I have heat after 5 minutes, which is amazing. And what can I say about their brake fluid! My car stops 3 times better and firmer than it used to! And I had all 4 disks and pads changed before flushing the brake system! I am just sold on Amsoil and next year I will change my power steering and my transmission fluid too.
I use P.I every 4000 miles and 1/2 bottle of Top end lubricant every fill up in my 3.0 Escape. I recently replaced the plugs, and they were clean. I shined a light down the spark plug hole and the pistons looked clean as well. Light brown staining with a little carbon, but no chunks or soot. Looking down the intake ports at the valves, the valve looked brand new. The ports were clean where the fuel spays. Still get 21-23 MPG 215K miles. I bought the vehicle at 189K with a new Transmission. I switched over to Amsoil @ 205K after rebuilding the brakes/wheel bearings/suspension with all new FORD PARTS. Engine looked fantastic after doing valve cover gaskets. ZERO sludge. This is a great little engine once the oil leaks get fixed. I fixed them all PITA (coming from a ASE tech). That front cover is a pill, but manageable. I really enjoy this little AWD CUV. I am the biggest fan of the severe gear pack/lube.
Many years I used Lucas upper cylinder lube and injector cleaner. Slow results. One bottle of Amsoil upper cylinder lube and injector cleaner oh my gosh. Pep. Touchy gas like never before. It works. I haven't tried the P.I. I used seafoam a few times on other cars that had inline gas filter. It sure cleaned the tank from crap and jammed it all in the filter. Never used that again. 2007 Chevy Impala 3.9l has the filter in the tank. Amsoil upper cylinder lube worked great in that first bottle.
Pi is phenomenal. I just added a bottle to my tank. Same driving style, habits and daily commute. Was getting 23.5 to 24MPG. After 3/4 of a tank with Pi I'm now getting 25.5 to 27MPG. That's enough proof for me to say it definitely cleaned up the fuel system
What’s your opinion on this. Scotty Kilmer said, never carbon, clean your engine, because large chunks of carbon can get into the cylinder walls and damage them. I think the videos called, do not carbon clean your engine, Scotty Kilmer
Scotty ROCKS!! I thought I saw one of his videos recommending intake valve cleaners, but maybe misremembering. Best coarse is to use from day one to prevent build up. I learned about GDI after 90,000 miles of well kept engine with no current symptoms, so I chose CRC brand. If I was having issues, then I would explore walnut blasting prices. Doing nothing until an issue arose wasn't an option for me. So far, so good.
I start using it at every oil change 10k km Now it is very rare to find concentrated fuel system cleaner AMSOIL PI is concentrated and I recommend it, I think the cleaning can keep cleaning for two full tanks, so if you want double treatment use the second bottle at the third full tank or every 4k miles according to the bottle instructions
I just checked redline website and they don't have any test results or any data showing how their performed. Is it works well or not, redline has no proof of any.
@@repairvehicle they have a “white page” that you can find with data and results . Similar diagrams like how Amsoil advertises. Also real life pictures of its effectiveness on Amazon, and forums. One of the only products I sway from Amsoil for, PI is good, but maintenance dose Redline is even better as you don’t have “shock cleaning” and your engine is continually as clean as it can be
Redline is doing great job copying Amsoil. When you the best then everyone is trying to copy. Not a legit company when it’s copied Amsoil test data and pictures
Good explanation about the benefits of the additives. Thanks. However, I don’t think those with GDI or direct injection engines will be able to fully see the benefits of the PI additive since the valves are above the fuel injectors (I believe the fuel is sprayed directly into combustion chamber - please correct if I’m wrong). I guess the pistons and injectors will still benefit from the fuel additives or are there really no carbon cleaning benefit for GDI’s with these gas fuel additives?
GDI have even more carbon buildup issues. It depends on the gdi brand and how much it can benefit. Engine with direct injection only will benefit from pi too, cleaner positions, combustion chamber and injectors. Intake valves will not see any benefits on direct injection only engine.
To clean the intake valves on a direct injection engine use AMSOIL Power Foam. Spray it into the air intake (after the sensor) with engine running, once the can is empty turn off engine and let it sit for a while so it can do it’s thing.
@@TaterNater90, At what mileage would you consider doing that the first time? 10K? 30K? I have a Type R with 7000 miles but definitely trying to keep up with preventative maintenance and try to avoid walnut blasting down the road
It doesn't matter what brand or octane. Why, because expensive best fuel still doesn't have enough detergent to keep pistons and valves clean. If you look at shell websites and pictures of their gas vs cheap stuff, the valves still have plenty of deposits they try to hide but it failed on pictures. Gas in US doesn't meet specifications for fuel standards.
I use Shell 93 fuel and Amsoil Signature Series oil, as well as P.I. and upper cylinder lubricant. I recently learned about GDI intake valves, so added CRC to the maintenance schedule. The '18 civic lx 2.0 still gets 46mpg on road trips at 92,000 miles with an aggressive tread tire (3mpg loss from stock tires). All fluids are Amsoil from day one!
This is my concern. Scotty Kilmer I think about three years ago said do not carbon clean your engine because particles can get into your cylinder heads and scratch the cylinder walls or the catalytic converter can clogge. I think the video is called never carbon clean your engine by Scotty Kilmer. What’s your opinion about the dangers of carbon cleaning?
When engine is running it generates carbon by burning gasoline and oil. Excessive oil consumption is what clogs up catalytic converters. Carbon cleaning burns clean with minimal carbon production
