I remember back when I was a young, insecure, wound up kid, I would get pissed every time this old fella at my job would give me a hard time. I finally jumped him and asked why he was always giving me a hard time and what his problem was with me. He told me "When I quit giving you a hard time, that's when I have a problem with you". Lol! After that, I learned to give, as good as I got (in good fun of course) and life has been a little simpler since then.
Thanks for taking us along on this 395 Bellhopper!

Hey Bell Hopper, thanks for posting this video. I enjoyed it very much. I am quite comfortable using chainsaws, but have never been confident enough to do work myself on anything mechanical. I recently picked-up a couple of old Pioneer chainsaws for the sole purpose of taking them apart and trying to learn how they actually work.I figure a guy has to learn these things at some point in life. While I don't have any plan to port them, this video helped boost my confidence about starting the process of stripping them down. I hope you are staying well and healthy during this crazy period!!! ✊🏻👍🏻

A tree crew was working some big wood over at my neighbors last year, and I heard the sweetest, loudest most rippin saw I've ever heard. I asked them what it was and they said 395xp polished, ported w/am muffler. What a best of a machine!

A couple of years ago when I needed a bigger-than-50cc saw, I bought a new 372. I really wish I would have bought a 395 as the 372 is big enough to be a workout but doesn't handle the really big stuff as well as the 395's. For lighter cutting, I've got a 51 and a 55 that are really sweet firewood saws.

Guess that's the guess & grind method of porting. Either that or I missed the part where he attached a degree wheel & measured the intake & exhaust ports to see what needed to come off of them. The power curve on that engine is hurt just as much by too much clearance as it is by too little.

The reason the squish is so large is because it’s designed for a normal human to be able to pull the rope , I’m not normal as far as strength and weight and you probably aren’t either it doesn’t affect us but they get a lot harder to pull at 20 for a small dude

Hey there J-Bell... I was just looking at the specs and am just now realizing that the 394 is a 56mm Bore??? Wowzza! I’m seeing these aftermarket kits pushing them out to 58mm topends??? Good Golly G! Those monsters must make some sure enough torque!!! You have any experience with the Echo QV-8000’s. It’s a 52mm Bore... I have the CS-8000 and the QV-8000 cylinders side by side and it’s really amazing how much porting that’s factory for the fire rescue version to make more power... it’s just amazing how much more volume the rescue version can move!!! I’m kinda wondering why if you had done the amount of research necessary to port the cylinder for more torque and power... why wouldn’t you use that better cylinder across the whole line of CS800,CS8000’s QV8000’s??? Why would you want one version of your 80cc saws to have less performance??? Hey, at Buckin Stock... there was a big Echo (hotsaw) with a resistor pipe off the exhaust.... do you remember the saw and or possibly remember or know who it’s owner is or was? I’m trying to get information on those resonating exhaust pipes. It sounds like they are tuned to a specific RPM range and when you hit that they start to resonate waves and that creates a vacuum effect that helps pull the volume of gases out the exhaust increasing the air flow through the Saw??? I’m extremely interested in the dynamic they create and I’m dead set on Fabing up a muffler that can create that effect without having a 2’ piece of pipe sticking out the front of the saw! Do know anyone who is building or experimenting with exhaust... that’s building those resonating pipes or other outside the box mufflers??? I’m really wishing that that Echo Saw I watched run...( quite wickedly...I might add) was one of your saws. I need information on the numbers that they ended up using to create that engine? When you port most of your work saws... are they basically volume ports where you open the exhaust and intake ports and then generally leave the intake roofs alone??? How do you decide how much material to remove from the intake ports tops...run the saw throughout the process to figure out how much you are effecting the top rpm’s as you go? Do you know or have a supply house that specializes in stocking “Pop-up” pistons for Stihl and Husqvarna saws??? Thanks much for any help...figured it couldn’t hurt to ask ya... can’t wait until next summer to get to spend a couple days with you guys at Buckin Stock running saws.... I got a couple to bring and I’m really hoping to develop the Echo QV8000 into a good pulling rock and roll saw!!! I am working on getting another Echo...it’s the 6150...a 60cc 20”bar saw that is going to go pretty reasonably I believe... it’s still got the box with it and a couple of new chains and the guy said that my hundred dollar bid was still his best offer... I’m really hoping to get it... yesterday I got a cherry 028super and a 036Pro...

heh while watching this video I kept thinking I should make a comment directing you to Ironhorse Chainsaw's channel because i'd been watching all his porting vids recently and I reckon you two guys could shoot the shit about your porting experiences for hours. When I clicked on your channel to find the next parts of this series I scrolled down and saw you're already on to Buckin, so no need. TH-cam seems to be pretty good at recommending vids from the same circles.

It just doesn't sound very good for people say they need to ruin cylinders to learn. I would do what I thought was right. Seems like ( maybe) blaming someone else for something that you don't want to do. That statement really didn't seem to fit your character. Kinda rubs people the wrong way when you say stuff like that. Maybe just my situation is make a few videos here and there to teach people that's the main reason there watching you. Probably would help your business more if people understood how you saws. It's what makes you different and better. That statement you made about not giving out port numbers. Kind of made me look at you different. I know my opinion doesn't really matter. But who knows how many people got upset over that. The object is trying to keep viewers. I'm not upset this is not meant as a nasty comment. It's tough to understand emotion in writing on a page. Instead of talkin.
