For the very first time, I cant agree with you on the Game. I tried the Game and I genuinely dislike it. It has good aspects to it and it certainly isnt as bad as reviewers say. The poor writing critique is true to a point. The open world one isnt. Its okayish. The protagonist is really annoying though, to be fair. I hate it how she talks. Is the game terrible? No. Is the game bad? Yes. Is it bad considering the price? Absolutely yes. Personally, my opinion. Nothing here is objective. :) ----------------- Now the controller, Is the New controller far too overpriced for what it is? Absolutely. It was a sponsor so I get it you cant talk bad about it. :) Other than that, I liked your review. :D One personal note though.. The fact that its a female protagonist really hasnt anything to do with it like you mention at around 9:10.. I loved Aloy, I always pick female characters in every game.

I decided to pick this game up since it was on sale and reading all the negative reviews I had no idea what to expect but after playing for a few hours I am absolutely hooked and I can't understand the hatred for this game I think it's great

A lot of the reviews just say so little. I feel like I finally got a good picture of what a large portion of the game is like. It is impressive how fast the movement can be with the graphical effects and everything.

Hi Ircha, just wanna say thank you for the honest opinion about the game and for providing both the positives and negatives that I'm noticing a lot of people are not doing, making it very one-sided with their critique. I had my eye on this for a while and while the reception has sort of pushed me off, I wanted to see if there was any hope of someone finding some good in it. I'm Going to pick it up for sure when it gets a little bit cheaper 😄

The negative reviews actually got me interested in the game. I often like games that are controversial, like Forspoken. It's good to hear that you like the game, because our tastes are very similiar. That's why I think I'll like the game as well.
I finished Forspoken a few days ago and also really loved it, the combat, music, parkour and world is fantastic! I wasn't too crazy about the story and the graphics, I did enjoy Frey and Cuff, I just wanted the story to be more than it was, because the concept is amazing. Thank you for making this video I must say I personally am really enjoying the game I am probably 15 hrs in and really enjoying doing a lot of the side quests and leveling my character up. Is it the perfect game no but it is def entertaining and fun and I am truly enjoying it. ☺️ keep up the good work and definitely I definitely enjoy your video.
Good 4 u liking it . But 4 me na its was shit i played the demo and though na get of my ssd. And from what i played she's ok esh but the game wasn't 4 me there were early warning signs like i got with anthem and a few other games that i didn't Listen 2 what i was feeling i lost the money 4 those games . So I'm not gonna spend 65 pounds on a game i won't get refunded by sony and the 1080/720p is not what i payed 500 pounds to play next gen games on, only to get ps3/xbox360 Resolution.
I enjoyed the game...so glad I didn't listen to the TH-cam reviews...The combat and magic are amazing...and the story was ok with a few twists. I've been playing this game non stop since I got it.
I greatly enjoy Frey as a character. The biggest reason is that she's realistic. She's not the typical happy go lucky wanna be a hero personailty and quite frankly it's quite refreshing. They really did a great job with her character arc.
This is caused by a blurring of the lines between journalist and influencer. Journalists now feel perfectly at peace with accepting un-taxed expensive freebies, trips in executive jets, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes access (with all the associated clout and prestige) in exchange for positive articles and reviews, or negative against the competition. Lower-tier outlets and individuals can only aspire to being the lapdog of a trillion-dollar corporation. They jump on the bandwagon started by others and are sometimes rewarded with a year's service subscription, the odd review code or maybe a free variant controller.
76 hours in and it’s true…I have never seen such a bandwagon hate for a game that actually turned out to be great before. The spells are so detailed, and the closer you get to power limit the more apocalyptic they become. I’ve never seen such crazy effects: Freakin maelstrom surge spells, volcanic-like eruptions, lighting storms…to a massive scale. The game clearly embraced the term “Overpowered” to grant a God level feel to it’s destruction…at least once you’ve gotten closer to max power limit. It’s kind of like an endgame thank you for slaving away. The world is probably bigger than AC: Origins, the only difference here is that there are usually no more than two ways into a given region. So half the trick is finding those hidden paths. Any issues or concerns the game has can be updated/ patched. It’s not a big frigging deal. It’s not like this is a Cyberpunk launch, where half the promised features were omitted and the game felt like a shell. Although? In hindsight? I guess games like No Mans Sky, Cyberpunk, Andromeda and Anthem were responsible for creating this social media, post-launch frenzy. People actually want to see things fail now. It’s like a massive movement of people who’s job it is to stream hate. It’s one thing if a game releases broken or damn near unplayable, like Cyberpunk, and also somehow manages to miss the narrative and story telling and is just full of a bunch of bad decisions, but that is even remotely close to this. Regarding the hate for Frey? People are forgetting that she was treated like literal shit her entire life, had no parents, stole things to survive and now a world is depending on her. That would drive any one to say “yo! F-off!!! I just want to go home!” You’ve gone from “shit status” to not liked, but needed and still hated. Whoever wouldn’t have that response? Well, you are a saint. The world has gotten soft. It’s like we all want Disney games. Has everyone lost the meaning of “anti-hero?” For awhile there such characters were trending, back in the Riddick days: Taking a serial killing convict and making him a hero…the guy treated everyone like they were minced meat, yet we all still liked him… man, now I need to rewatch those: “Ghost me muther f-ka!!! That’s what I’d do to you!” Frey and Riddick…two peas in a pod, huh!

I totally agree with you, for me it's a sold 8/10 and a great game which got review bombed, I paid a full 70$ and I don't regret it one bit, I spent around 25 hours and beat the game, world building, music and combat are great, the only issue that the dev need to address is the world's lighting.
I'm really glad to hear an honest opinion from someone who doesn't just follow the trends of hate. The game isn't perfect but I've beaten it and am going for the Platinum. Even after 30 hours I still cannot put it down once I start. Great video and beautiful accent, take care.
Thanks for being honest and not following the negativity hype around Forspoken. Personally, I found the game to be “ok'ish”; not the worst, not the best game out there. I’d give it a 6 or 7 out of 10.

I NEVER skip cutscenes in games. ..until this one. The gameplay is fine, not great. I enjoy clearing map icons (Assassin's Creed completionist mentality). I've played 38.4hrs so far and have not completed the main quest. I keep going off on map clearing quests. I think I'm on chapter 11. I will complete the game, but I absolutely hate the story & characters.

Just the review I was looking for. Played the Demo and loved the parkour, combat and the art design. Irrespective of the reviews I bought the game full price. I think the western media has been unnecessarily too harsh on this game. Everyone has likes and dislikes but the amount of 'HATE' the game got seems unjustified. Enjoying it so far. I don't like open world games much, but the transversal is really working for me. Moreover I think the 'Menu Design and UX' of this game is some of the best I've seen, it looks phenomenal. The fonts, colour schemes, the gold shimmer makes the UI look really good, not to mention the curve in the centre - very stylised indeed. Greetings from India! P.S. - The musical theme on the start menu is so good, just listen to it for at least 2 minutes, has a lot of variations.
I played the demo but i just couldn't get into it .. the graphics are beautiful tho . .. I can see why some people might like it . I mean I love callisto protocol so I believe in trying something first before completely ignoring something.
If you've never played a Fallout game or Skyrim or Disco Elysium, then you'll love the dialogue and character, if you've never played any Assasins Creed or Ubisoft game you'll love this open world. But if you've played any of these games, you feel like you went from a sexy looking Pasta Alfredo with seasoned chicken breast to some Dollar Store Ramen
while forspoken is not for me, i definitely respect you for having your own opinions after having played it yourself. as a side note, that's why i don't use metacric much. it's because of how easy it is to abuse.

I've just sold my PC so am getting back into console gaming, I got ps plus, downloaded most of the AAA'S from there and barely touched them, I've been playing the demo of this, wondering why all of the extreme hate, resi 4 and Gran turismo. Played the demo more than god of war 5! More than dead space remake, It makes no sense, I'm extremely harsh on games, I'm finding those two games a challenge to keep mynattention to be honest, although still good. I have just ordered Forspoken. Really like the world, the atmosphere, the spellcasting etc. I think society nowadays is heavily conditioned into what they 'like/not. I could be wrong! It might be bad but, my initial impressions were good, so, ima try it out!! 😀 Oh, I pretty much instantly sold Hogwarts legacy aswell, couldnt stand it, but each to their own!

I am playing since two hours and love every second of it. Honestly, I remember hearing review codes didn’t come out until the release date was a few days away. Reviewers probably wanted to quickly review it and move on. -Empty open world with nothing to do- is something I’ve heard from reviews. You can say that with about any open world. I think right now, I personally can’t justify $70 for games right now. That’s why I’m also waiting for a price drop on the Dead Space remake.
I just started playing the game and the gameplay is quite interesting and fun. However, I can see why many people hate the protagonist not because her gender but mostly with the ton of her voice and personality which can be perceived as "annoying" and not so likeable. I briefly tried Japanese dub and the voicing was much better and tolerable. But I will be playing with English voicing so that I do not have to read the subtitles throughout the game.
It's a character with a story arc that is focused on "character development" and it's been done so many times before, this is no different. She's unlikable in the beginning for a reason.
The review situation is quite shocking to me. Of course its a matter of taste, but this negativity spiral let me really think the world is about losing its mind. I like the game ALOT, and I have a hard time putting it down at each session. Great video, Thanks!!!
I have had this game in my radar since it was announced a few years ago. I bought the game and then saw numerous TH-cam video titles of negative reviews. I purposely did not watch any review for this game because I wanted to see for myself. I did play the demo and felt Frey’s character seemed unlikable. I thought that when I play the game hopefully it will give her backstory therefore giving more context on why she is the way she is. I believe the game did. I finished it today and I actually like the game. There was some things that got on my nerves but nothing that made me won’t to stop or feel like it hindered my game play. I do feel like the open world did not have a lot of exploration as the map for the most part shows you were things are. (Still playing could be wrong.) And there is a lot of things to get. I really liked the story and combat.I hope people will give it a chance. I would consider the price though, not sure if the $70 price tag is worth it right now. Definitely when it goes on sale. But if you really won’t to try it then do it. Just my opinion. Thanks for a honest positive review!!

My theory is that this game is supposed to be a way for them test new engine mechanics for final fantasy 16, but that was my immediate thought. Like an FFXVI alpha or beta demo almost???
it's not "review bombing" it's just negative feedback. "review bombing" would imply the reviews weren't legit and were dishonest. but typing out your honest impressions with a game (/product), and them coinciding with the opinions of others is not "review bombing" at all.
@@ircha this is whats called survivors bias. the people who really loved the product or hated it are way more likely to feel the need to share their opinion than those who just felt it was "meh". Which is why reviews, which should be approximately following the gaussian normal distribution are actually the inverse. Isn't your video post a prime example? You enjoy the game so you wanted to share your enjoyment. If you thought it was just mediocre you probably wouldn't have bothered. I am absolutely convinced that those so-called """review bombers""" feel equally as negatively about the title as you feel positively about it.
I was excited for this game, besides the annoying voice acting of the main character, I still want to check it out when it's on the cheap, since I don't own a ps5 yet 😢. I guarantee it, it will be a sought after game in 8-10yrs

Since it was mentioned I'm here to defend Tales Of The Abyss and it's main character arc. Yes, Luke Von Fabre is the most annoying, self centered, over confident, selfish, spiteful and downright obnoxious character ever conceived. At first. . . However, Luke Von Fabre also has one of the biggest turn arounds in character development history. The kid is put through so much psychological trauma it evolves him entirely. And it's so well done if you think about it. Say what you wish, but few stories have been told that does the selfish arrogant whelp turned self sacrificing hero troupe so well. I tip my hat to Tales Of The Abyss and it's character development for Luke alone!

I feel like Forspoken was unfairly criticized. I think that people would be more forgiving of this game if it wasn't so popular to hate. Some people even claimed that the combat was simplistic and that the map was too vast and boring, but the point of the map's design is for the parkor, which was one of the selling points for the game. I can easily see Forspoken being a "hidden gem" or "underrated" game on the PS5 in the future.
The game isn't the worst but isn't " "hidden gem" ". The main protag is so unlikable because the personality is so hateful and demeaning. The story is average but it's really muddied because of the protagonist's unwillingness to change develop and be nice to others until the last 2 hours in the game. The map is big and has some beautiful places but it feels empty. There are a ton of items but they are already on the map for you instead of you having to explore and find them yourself. The game runs very bad on PC for how it looks. I agree it's unfairly bomb revealed but with that price it is easy to see what a huge target it has placed on itself.
@@johnjonson6377 Yeah this did release on the PC and that was a mess, but it was also just another stone to throw at the game. And I'm not really interested in the main character nor the hate, I've already had my fill. Anything that has been said about her has already been said by everyone else. I'm focused on the gameplay itself and the art direction, which I really liked. I also just like the concept of this game in general - the spells and parkor. Although the story probably isn't that great, the world is definitely interesting, at least to me. Also the price... Yeah from the consumer side and with its apparent issues, I understand why people would be upset with it. But I can't imagine a company producing a game like this to sell at a cheaper price, it probably wouldn't be profitable for them. But again, once time passes and the price drops, I personally can imagine this game being revisited with a more positive view by players, but that's just my opinion.
With Frey, I do feel like most of the people have taken how her character is written out of context. It makes sense to me how she talks and acts within the context that she's a girl from New York that's been thrown into this world. Within this context, I don't think there's any real issue to how she's been written.
I’m learning to take game reviews with a grain of salt. This game has so much negativity but plays really good and the story is decent, I’ve definitely played much much worse. I would even say that the dialogue isn’t as bad. I mean I’d be lying if I said the MC attitude didn’t get annoying but The main character is a 20 year old modern female who has had to live on her own and survive. Her attitude fits the scenario especially as a gen Z.
I strongly recommend not wasting your time on this game when we have games like fire emblem engage, dead space remake and hogwarts out. Those games are must plays where forspoken is definitely a wait for a deep sale game.

I mostly have a problem with interactions with npcs and the story, i have been enjoying the map, the combat, the traversal, all fun! But the freaking story and npc interactions.. i quickly found myself skipping a *lot* of the cutscenes and dialogue
The game is way better than people are making it out I got it day one and haven’t put it down yet with over a 100hrs in yes the story kinda short but it’s also a setup for the open world and I feel is where the real challenge begins… you guys are gonna miss out on a really good and interesting game because you let the negativity influence your decision instead of going to give this game a chance and your opinion and btw I luv freys character and her mood change💜💯
This is a good example of what I love most about gaming. There are so many different games, that there are always some who will like a game, just as there are always some that will dislike it. All games are not for everyone! People need to just accept that sometimes there are games they don't like, which simply means that the game is not for them. And reviews need to take a step back, and look at the game they are working on, from the "correct" audience... A good reviewer, are able to point out the elements that would work for that audience, while not liking the game themself... Sadly there are very few good reviewers... most are just "commentators". But generally, people should find individual reviews, which they figure out that reviewers likes and dislikes, and then us that as a guide. Personally I follow reviews who generally dislike the games I like, because they sometime review a game that they don't like, but I become interested by the stuff they mention. And also, people should really stop use "IGN gave it X/Y" or gamespot, etc. All that matters is the person who made the review, and their individual integrety. Most people have no clue who the individual reviews are, on the large websites. There are many examples of reviews who don't like rpg's who end up having to review an rpg, because the other guy is busy on another game.
I think reviews also reflect the reviewer. People who watch your channel expect to see green grass games and game play somewhat reminiscent of Oblivion. That's totally fine because we enjoy that as well. However, some reviewers seem to compare game-to-game features missing the point - we play the games we think we will enjoy, not necessarily the "popular" games. I'm sure we've all played games that we played because we wanted to relax into a game (Ircha did a video about this). Sometimes we like to play games that immerse us into another world. Sometimes we want combat. What reviewers seem to commonly miss is to tell us if certain types of people will like the game if it fills our void. Forspoken has looked fascinating from the moment it was shone. The lead character is one that I cannot so much relate to or empathize with, but I can want to sympathize with. I want to play that character. I will play that character in that world. Traversal is well planned on such a huge map. I'm glad we have you to actually play the game before reviewing it rather than just put in an hour and "phone home" a review. Thanks!
I appreciate your review of this game. I played it myself for only an hour so far, but I like everything about it. Then I saw a bunch of negative reviews from people that seemed to be whining about nothing. So in my opinion, your review of the game is the only one that people need.
Story: Story is not ground breaking, but devs pretty much told it will be fairy tale with modern setting. We have exactly this, no more, no less. I liked it even if I really believe if the story is the main motivation to buy the game, maybe wait for a sale, this price is too high if you are only into this element. Fray: Actually I really love her. In most fantasy settings and especially fairy tales, the authors take someone from the lowest class of society and let them grow to something more. I loved how anti she was at most of the time, because she don't trust people and they don't support her anyway, so she see no reason to support them too. It was true to the character and her background. Gameplay: This is the hero. The world is not as cool as in other games, but it is made entirely around gameplay systems and both combined just nail it. I have 60+ hours in hard with increased damage recieved and I just can't stop playing. THey left a lot of the CPU and GPU power for particles and effects making already extremely satisfying battle system even better. I just l can't enjoy this part of the game more. There are so many advanced systems in the game from at least 6 ways to change between magics to animation cancel, perfect parry, freedom of combinations. There are few minuses as the fire spear that in my opinion is super hard to be used in long combos, but overall after the story and unlock of all powers, this game is ultra addictive, I want to delete it because I can't stop playing. What it needs: I really hope in the expansion they will add more bosses predicted for "endgame" character. There are only 3 bosses (I think) that are made to be specifically killed after Fray have all the powers in the game and even if they are quite hard, they were not as saticfying as I would like to see. As I would love to see more different enemies, in end game when they combine different archetypes is groups the gameplay is still saticfying, but I would really love to see more different archetypes, especially for ground enemies as the deers. Open world: Now this is a big shot and I understand why they did it on developement side. I really hope at some point (maybe in the expansion) we may see time of day. First because FF XV was one of the very few games where it looked like there is an idea of having it. Secondly, I really want to see this world at night :D (I understand the technicle reasons, why that may never happen).
I agree soooo much with basically everything you said about this game. It has been so fun to play! It just bothers me that it wasn't more well received, the extent that some people have trashed the game is really mind blowing to me. It's not perfect, of course but it's a very good game and a new intellectual property in an age of remakes and remasters. I really hope we get a forspoken 2 or at least a spiritual successor with the same combat and traversal.
I actually really enjoyed this game I don't know why people are dragging it down so badly some people were mad because of them talking too much but they didn't realize there is a setting to make them talk less to not even at all me I give it an eight out of 10 and I'm hoping for a DLC or sequel

I decided to pick this game up since it was on sale and reading all the negative reviews I had no idea what to expect but after playing for a few hours I am absolutely hooked and I can't understand the hatred for this game I think it's great

A lot of the reviews just say so little. I feel like I finally got a good picture of what a large portion of the game is like. It is impressive how fast the movement can be with the graphical effects and everything.

Hi Ircha, just wanna say thank you for the honest opinion about the game and for providing both the positives and negatives that I'm noticing a lot of people are not doing, making it very one-sided with their critique. I had my eye on this for a while and while the reception has sort of pushed me off, I wanted to see if there was any hope of someone finding some good in it. The negative reviews actually got me interested in the game. I often like games that are controversial, like Forspoken. It's good to hear that you like the game, because our tastes are very similiar. That's why I think I'll like the game as well.

I finished Forspoken a few days ago and also really loved it, the combat, music, parkour and world is fantastic! I wasn't too crazy about the story and the graphics, I did enjoy Frey and Cuff, I just wanted the story to be more than it was, because the concept is amazing. A really solid game that absolutely didn't deserve the hate it got! Thanks for the positive review Ircha!

Thank you for making this video I must say I personally am really enjoying the game I am probably 15 hrs in and really enjoying doing a lot of the side quests and leveling my character up. Good 4 u liking it . But 4 me na its was shit i played the demo and though na get of my ssd. And from what i played she's ok esh but the game wasn't 4 me there were early warning signs like i got with anthem and a few other games that i didn't Listen 2 what i was feeling i lost the money 4 those games . So I'm not gonna spend 65 pounds on a game i won't get refunded by sony and the 1080/720p is not what i payed 500 pounds to play next gen games on, only to get ps3/xbox360 Resolution.
I enjoyed the game...so glad I didn't listen to the TH-cam reviews...The combat and magic are amazing...and the story was ok with a few twists. I've been playing this game non stop since I got it.
I greatly enjoy Frey as a character. The biggest reason is that she's realistic. She's not the typical happy go lucky wanna be a hero personailty and quite frankly it's quite refreshing. They really did a great job with her character arc.

This is caused by a blurring of the lines between journalist and influencer. Journalists now feel perfectly at peace with accepting un-taxed expensive freebies, trips in executive jets, exclusive interviews and behind-the-scenes access (with all the associated clout and prestige) in exchange for positive articles and reviews, or negative against the competition. Lower-tier outlets and individuals can only aspire to being the lapdog of a trillion-dollar corporation. They jump on the bandwagon started by others and are sometimes rewarded with a year's service subscription, the odd review code or maybe a free variant controller.

76 hours in and it’s true…I have never seen such a bandwagon hate for a game that actually turned out to be great before.
The spells are so detailed, and the closer you get to power limit the more apocalyptic they become. I’ve never seen such crazy effects: Freakin maelstrom surge spells, volcanic-like eruptions, lighting storms…to a massive scale. The game clearly embraced the term “Overpowered” to grant a God level feel to it’s destruction…at least once you’ve gotten closer to max power limit. It’s kind of like an endgame thank you for slaving away.
The world is probably bigger than AC: Origins, the only difference here is that there are usually no more than two ways into a given region. So half the trick is finding those hidden paths.
Any issues or concerns the game has can be updated/ patched. It’s not a big frigging deal. It’s not like this is a Cyberpunk launch, where half the promised features were omitted and the game felt like a shell. Although? In hindsight? I guess games like No Mans Sky, Cyberpunk, Andromeda and Anthem were responsible for creating this social media, post-launch frenzy. People actually want to see things fail now. It’s like a massive movement of people who’s job it is to stream hate. It’s one thing if a game releases broken or damn near unplayable, like Cyberpunk, and also somehow manages to miss the narrative and story telling and is just full of a bunch of bad decisions, but that is even remotely close to this.
Regarding the hate for Frey? People are forgetting that she was treated like literal shit her entire life, had no parents, stole things to survive and now a world is depending on her. That would drive any one to say “yo! F-off!!! I just want to go home!” You’ve gone from “shit status” to not liked, but needed and still hated. Whoever wouldn’t have that response? Well, you are a saint. The world has gotten soft. It’s like we all want Disney games. Has everyone lost the meaning of “anti-hero?” For awhile there such characters were trending, back in the Riddick days: Taking a serial killing convict and making him a hero…the guy treated everyone like they were minced meat, yet we all still liked him… man, now I need to rewatch those: “Ghost me muther f-ka!!! That’s what I’d do to you!” Frey and Riddick…two peas in a pod, huh!

I totally agree with you, for me it's a sold 8/10 and a great game which got review bombed, I paid a full 70$ and I don't regret it one bit, I spent around 25 hours and beat the game, world building, music and combat are great, the only issue that the dev need to address is the world's lighting.
You should do endgame stuff like the secret world bosses and stuff, I'm 45 hours in and I'm still exploring 😁👌
I'm really glad to hear an honest opinion from someone who doesn't just follow the trends of hate. The game isn't perfect but I've beaten it and am going for the Platinum. Even after 30 hours I still cannot put it down once I start. Great video and beautiful accent, take care.

I NEVER skip cutscenes in games. ..until this one. The gameplay is fine, not great. I enjoy clearing map icons (Assassin's Creed completionist mentality).
I've played 38.4hrs so far and have not completed the main quest. I keep going off on map clearing quests. I think I'm on chapter 11.
I will complete the game, but I absolutely hate the story & characters.

I watched a guy who played the whole thing without spoilers, and he found it really good.
Just the review I was looking for. Played the Demo and loved the parkour, combat and the art design. Irrespective of the reviews I bought the game full price. I think the western media has been unnecessarily too harsh on this game. Everyone has likes and dislikes but the amount of 'HATE' the game got seems unjustified. Enjoying it so far. I don't like open world games much, but the transversal is really working for me. Moreover I think the 'Menu Design and UX' of this game is some of the best I've seen, it looks phenomenal. The fonts, colour schemes, the gold shimmer makes the UI look really good, not to mention the curve in the centre - very stylised indeed. Greetings from India!
P.S. - The musical theme on the start menu is so good, just listen to it for at least 2 minutes, has a lot of variations.

If you've never played a Fallout game or Skyrim or Disco Elysium, then you'll love the dialogue and character, if you've never played any Assasins Creed or Ubisoft game you'll love this open world. But if you've played any of these games, you feel like you went from a sexy looking Pasta Alfredo with seasoned chicken breast to some Dollar Store Ramen

I've just sold my PC so am getting back into console gaming, I got ps plus, downloaded most of the AAA'S from there and barely touched them, I've been playing the demo of this, wondering why all of the extreme hate, resi 4 and Gran turismo. Played the demo more than god of war 5! More than dead space remake, It makes no sense, I'm extremely harsh on games, I'm finding those two games a challenge to keep mynattention to be honest, although still good. I have just ordered Forspoken. Really like the world, the atmosphere, the spellcasting etc. I think society nowadays is heavily conditioned into what they 'like/not. I could be wrong! It might be bad but, my initial impressions were good, so, ima try it out!! 😀

I am playing since two hours and love every second of it. It looks beautiful, gameplay is amazing and i enjoy the story and i even like Frey… 😍🤷♂️ It looks like a real triple-A-game to me and the only good thing about the brutal critics is, that i was able to buy it for a „nickel“ … 😅😂🥳🙈

Honestly, I remember hearing review codes didn’t come out until the release date was a few days away. Reviewers probably wanted to quickly review it and move on.
-Empty open world with nothing to do- is something I’ve heard from reviews. You can say that with about any open world. I think right now, I personally can’t justify $70 for games right now. That’s why I’m also waiting for a price drop on the Dead Space remake.

I just started playing the game and the gameplay is quite interesting and fun. However, I can see why many people hate the protagonist not because her gender but mostly with the ton of her voice and personality which can be perceived as "annoying" and not so likeable. I briefly tried Japanese dub and the voicing was much better and tolerable. But I will be playing with English voicing so that I do not have to read the subtitles throughout the game.
It's a character with a story arc that is focused on "character development" and it's been done so many times before, this is no different. She's unlikable in the beginning for a reason.
The review situation is quite shocking to me. Of course its a matter of taste, but this negativity spiral let me really think the world is about losing its mind. I like the game ALOT, and I have a hard time putting it down at each session. Great video, Thanks!!!

Bounced on my boys d-pad for hours to this game.
I have had this game in my radar since it was announced a few years ago. I bought the game and then saw numerous TH-cam video titles of negative reviews. I purposely did not watch any review for this game because I wanted to see for myself.
I did play the demo and felt Frey’s character seemed unlikable. I thought that when I play the game hopefully it will give her backstory therefore giving more context on why she is the way she is. I believe the game did. I finished it today and I actually like the game. There was some things that got on my nerves but nothing that made me won’t to stop or feel like it hindered my game play. I do feel like the open world did not have a lot of exploration as the map for the most part shows you were things are. (Still playing could be wrong.) And there is a lot of things to get. I really liked the story and combat.I hope people will give it a chance.
I would consider the price though, not sure if the $70 price tag is worth it right now. Definitely when it goes on sale. But if you really won’t to try it then do it. Just my opinion.

@@ircha this is whats called survivors bias. the people who really loved the product or hated it are way more likely to feel the need to share their opinion than those who just felt it was "meh". Which is why reviews, which should be approximately following the gaussian normal distribution are actually the inverse.

Since it was mentioned I'm here to defend Tales Of The Abyss and it's main character arc. Yes, Luke Von Fabre is the most annoying, self centered, over confident, selfish, spiteful and downright obnoxious character ever conceived. At first. . . However, Luke Von Fabre also has one of the biggest turn arounds in character development history. The kid is put through so much psychological trauma it evolves him entirely. And it's so well done if you think about it. Say what you wish, but few stories have been told that does the selfish arrogant whelp turned self sacrificing hero troupe so well. I tip my hat to Tales Of The Abyss and it's character development for Luke alone!

I feel like Forspoken was unfairly criticized. I think that people would be more forgiving of this game if it wasn't so popular to hate.
Some people even claimed that the combat was simplistic and that the map was too vast and boring, but the point of the map's design is for the parkor, which was one of the selling points for the game.
I can easily see Forspoken being a "hidden gem" or "underrated" game on the PS5 in the future.
The game isn't the worst but isn't " "hidden gem" ". The main protag is so unlikable because the personality is so hateful and demeaning. The story is average but it's really muddied because of the protagonist's unwillingness to change develop and be nice to others until the last 2 hours in the game. The map is big and has some beautiful places but it feels empty. There are a ton of items but they are already on the map for you instead of you having to explore and find them yourself. The game runs very bad on PC for how it looks. I agree it's unfairly bomb revealed but with that price it is easy to see what a huge target it has placed on itself.
@@johnjonson6377 Yeah this did release on the PC and that was a mess, but it was also just another stone to throw at the game. And I'm not really interested in the main character nor the hate, I've already had my fill. Anything that has been said about her has already been said by everyone else.
I'm focused on the gameplay itself and the art direction, which I really liked. I also just like the concept of this game in general - the spells and parkor. Although the story probably isn't that great, the world is definitely interesting, at least to me.
Also the price... Yeah from the consumer side and with its apparent issues, I understand why people would be upset with it. But I can't imagine a company producing a game like this to sell at a cheaper price, it probably wouldn't be profitable for them.
But again, once time passes and the price drops, I personally can imagine this game being revisited with a more positive view by players, but that's just my opinion.

With Frey, I do feel like most of the people have taken how her character is written out of context. It makes sense to me how she talks and acts within the context that she's a girl from New York that's been thrown into this world. Within this context, I don't think there's any real issue to how she's been written.

I’m learning to take game reviews with a grain of salt.
This game has so much negativity but plays really good and the story is decent, I’ve definitely played much much worse.
I would even say that the dialogue isn’t as bad. I mean I’d be lying if I said the MC attitude didn’t get annoying but The main character is a 20 year old modern female who has had to live on her own and survive. Her attitude fits the scenario especially as a gen Z.
I strongly recommend not wasting your time on this game when we have games like fire emblem engage, dead space remake and hogwarts out. Those games are must plays where forspoken is definitely a wait for a deep sale game.

I mostly have a problem with interactions with npcs and the story, i have been enjoying the map, the combat, the traversal, all fun! But the freaking story and npc interactions.. i quickly found myself skipping a *lot* of the cutscenes and dialogue
The game is way better than people are making it out I got it day one and haven’t put it down yet with over a 100hrs in yes the story kinda short but it’s also a setup for the open world and I feel is where the real challenge begins… you guys are gonna miss out on a really good and interesting game because you let the negativity influence your decision instead of going to give this game a chance and your opinion and btw I luv freys character and her mood change💜💯

This is a good example of what I love most about gaming. There are so many different games, that there are always some who will like a game, just as there are always some that will dislike it.
All games are not for everyone! People need to just accept that sometimes there are games they don't like, which simply means that the game is not for them.
And reviews need to take a step back, and look at the game they are working on, from the "correct" audience... A good reviewer, are able to point out the elements that would work for that audience, while not liking the game themself... Sadly there are very few good reviewers... most are just "commentators".
But generally, people should find individual reviews, which they figure out that reviewers likes and dislikes, and then us that as a guide. Personally I follow reviews who generally dislike the games I like, because they sometime review a game that they don't like, but I become interested by the stuff they mention.
And also, people should really stop use "IGN gave it X/Y" or gamespot, etc. All that matters is the person who made the review, and their individual integrety.
Most people have no clue who the individual reviews are, on the large websites. There are many examples of reviews who don't like rpg's who end up having to review an rpg, because the other guy is busy on another game.

Whats the point of having a huge open world if its super empty?

I think reviews also reflect the reviewer. People who watch your channel expect to see green grass games and game play somewhat reminiscent of Oblivion. That's totally fine because we enjoy that as well. However, some reviewers seem to compare game-to-game features missing the point - we play the games we think we will enjoy, not necessarily the "popular" games. I'm sure we've all played games that we played because we wanted to relax into a game (Ircha did a video about this). Sometimes we like to play games that immerse us into another world. Sometimes we want combat. What reviewers seem to commonly miss is to tell us if certain types of people will like the game if it fills our void. Forspoken has looked fascinating from the moment it was shone. The lead character is one that I cannot so much relate to or empathize with, but I can want to sympathize with. I want to play that character. I will play that character in that world. Traversal is well planned on such a huge map. I'm glad we have you to actually play the game before reviewing it rather than just put in an hour and "phone home" a review. Thanks!

I appreciate your review of this game. I played it myself for only an hour so far, but I like everything about it. Then I saw a bunch of negative reviews from people that seemed to be whining about nothing. So in my opinion, your review of the game is the only one that people need.
Story:
Story is not ground breaking, but devs pretty much told it will be fairy tale with modern setting. We have exactly this, no more, no less. I liked it even if I really believe if the story is the main motivation to buy the game, maybe wait for a sale, this price is too high if you are only into this element.
Fray:
Actually I really love her. In most fantasy settings and especially fairy tales, the authors take someone from the lowest class of society and let them grow to something more. I loved how anti she was at most of the time, because she don't trust people and they don't support her anyway, so she see no reason to support them too. It was true to the character and her background.
Gameplay:
This is the hero. The world is not as cool as in other games, but it is made entirely around gameplay systems and both combined just nail it. I have 60+ hours in hard with increased damage recieved and I just can't stop playing. THey left a lot of the CPU and GPU power for particles and effects making already extremely satisfying battle system even better. I just l can't enjoy this part of the game more. There are so many advanced systems in the game from at least 6 ways to change between magics to animation cancel, perfect parry, freedom of combinations. There are few minuses as the fire spear that in my opinion is super hard to be used in long combos, but overall after the story and unlock of all powers, this game is ultra addictive, I want to delete it because I can't stop playing.
What it needs:
I really hope in the expansion they will add more bosses predicted for "endgame" character. There are only 3 bosses (I think) that are made to be specifically killed after Fray have all the powers in the game and even if they are quite hard, they were not as saticfying as I would like to see. As I would love to see more different enemies, in end game when they combine different archetypes is groups the gameplay is still saticfying, but I would really love to see more different archetypes, especially for ground enemies as the deers.
Open world:
Now this is a big shot and I understand why they did it on developement side. I really hope at some point (maybe in the expansion) we may see time of day. First because FF XV was one of the very few games where it looked like there is an idea of having it. Secondly, I really want to see this world at night :D (I understand the technicle reasons, why that may never happen).

I agree soooo much with basically everything you said about this game. It has been so fun to play! It just bothers me that it wasn't more well received, the extent that some people have trashed the game is really mind blowing to me. It's not perfect, of course but it's a very good game and a new intellectual property in an age of remakes and remasters. I really hope we get a forspoken 2 or at least a spiritual successor with the same combat and traversal.

I actually really enjoyed this game I don't know why people are dragging it down so badly some people were mad because of them talking too much but they didn't realize there is a setting to make them talk less to not even at all me I give it an eight out of 10 and I'm hoping for a DLC or sequel
