The pipe for the shafts doesn't really bother me when I get in, but I do think it is not the safest design. We did have an incident where our neighbor was driving from behind and went to pass us, but instead of continuing onward she just sat there next to us. Comet didn't like this and my sister was able to jump out real fast and pull him away from the car. However, the bench seat is removable, so we used the cart like a chariot for a long time before we ever put the seat in.
i have a queston, when you get in the buggie duz that pipe bother you when you get in and out,,,or when your riding ,,could you get out quik if you had to,great buggy by the way
@bennyboo622 It probably took us about a week, we worked on and off for the first part of it and then when the cart really began taking shape we started to work on it obsessively
@history6763 That's still cool. We bought some old buggy running gear and misc. items from Michigan so that we can make some 4 wheeled buggies, so we are going to have to figure out how to put them all together. If you can you should make a video on how to assemble them, i haven't seen any videos on how to put wheels on. I found one website, but the pictures aren't very clear.
Those wide tires make it so much heavier for a horse to pull any cart as the amount of friction it causes is enormous, motorcycle wheels are much better for the horse. It's Swingle tree, not Swindle tree.
I was going to address both these issues, then I read this! Larger diameter and/or narrower wheels would be the order of the day. I hope the horse did not have to lug that one around for too many years.
Thanks for your reply, I should have added to my comment that the car tyres are ideal for driving your horse on a beach as the wider wheels don't dig into the sand but motorbike wheels are the best for roads. Happy driving👍
You girls inspire me! I really want to give this a try!
Bigger wheels.. it makes it easier for the pony/horse to pull :P Lovely job though!! Wish i could do this, looks fun!

You have to be really careful with homemade carts, as far as safety is concerned.
