As a QPR supporter I was there that night and I must spplaud the Liverpool Supporters who were so generous to me and my Dad after the match accepting defeat so well. Thst was one of the last games my dad saw as he died later that year .RIP
I think he was centre back alongside Hansen, with Lawrenson at right back and Sammy Lee (despite the number 2 shirt) on the right of midfield. At that time we had a few versatile players who kept the same number wherever they played, resulting in some odd number and position combinations, like Gillespie wearing 7 here.
Remind us who finished runners up in the league and FA Cup?? Oh, the irony. As for the crowd, unemployment played a major part (as did tv). We could examine the blooshites gates in the 80’s (and 90’s for that matter) but we’d only get an excuse. 13k in December 93 for a league game against Southampton. Average attendance often under 20k. So, what’s your point?
@@moz0207 That's the problem with social media. Facts when pointed out get ignored all the time - in response to someone having a pop over complete nonsense. Such a waste of time. Social media has given us more football from the 1980s than we use get at that time but it also gives us an insight in many views which people have which can be frightening. This channel is a treasure and Mr. Waller has done great work in preserving history. An area that the LFC failed badly in and Uefa/FIFa etc. He allows comments which is very generous of him. Deserves better than 'my team is better than yours' bile.

I was there! Remarkable! Locals not too happy. Train home had several broken windows by the time it reached the outskirts of L*******l.
Great performance by QPR.It's a shame they never turned up for the final against Oxford.They were like a different side.
They choked in the final - true - but Oxford played well and were a top flight side at the time, with Ray Houghton, Jeremy Charles, John Aldridge etc.
Me and my mates had a great time with some Liverpool supporters after the game, in their local, very funny lads.
You have to wonder if big Jan deliberately missed that pen. He was usually super clinical with them. very unusual penalty...
He hadn't taken that many by then. I think he got better as he got more confidence.
Liverpool should have won a domestic treble this year.

Dave Waller I remember a few games where players played in their normal positions but with strange shirt numbers.
