A tip regarding the energy level: Mind exercises rather than physical! Like spread out small pieces of treats in the grass in your backyard (or hide them in your house) and let her search for them and teach her tricks obviously (which I'm sure you already are doing). Point is, big energized dogs like pits are hard to tire out physically lol so go for the mind! (some dogs chew stuff bc their mind isn't being stimulated enough, might just be age related though) Im sure you guys are great dog parents, Peaches is very lucky!

Yes!! Mind exercices are a must! And if the dogs still likes to chew, all of the Kong toys that are black are the only ones that survive my dog!!
Lisa Adsten absolutely! as a dog trainer i have realized that some dogs just dont lose their energy unless theyve used their mind for awhile. thats actually how i got started with my training. my parents got a belgian mal and of course she ran miles everyday but she wasnt fulfilled unless she learned something new. for claudia and finneas they should really take her energy as an opportunity to teach peaches obedience, dogs like her can have some of the nicest behavior if their owners know how to manipulate their energy.

I know this is an old vlog but I just am in awe with how mature, poised, beautiful, and unproblematic you are. You are the one TH-camr I feel like I can say I've never seen talk ill of someone or do frivolous things just for views or sponsorships. definitely make sure you’re socializing her with other dogs!! take her to the dog park!! (will help her release all her energy), play dates, greeting other dogs on walks, etc. You want to make sure she is socialized with the world outside your home😊
You’re such a great dog mom! My pit loves “Antlers” since we don’t give her rawhide. The Antlers are amazing because they go after the bone marrow and keeps them active for HOURS. The large size antler last for months! 🐶
Doesn’t it hurt their mouth? I can’t imagine my dog chewing on those. Sometimes I see a little bit of blood just on his dental chewing bones so I can’t imagine what those antlers would be like. They’ve always scared me.
They don’t chew on the pointed end, so it doesn’t hurt them. Like anything they might barely bleed if they haven’t chewed on something before. But it’s like ya flossing.. if you do it often you don’t bleed. And if you rarely do it you will for sure bleed
Toys that my rambunctious puppy LOVES is the ruffwear “stick” - super durable!!! Any of their toys are awesome. Chewy also sells puzzles for dogs where you hide treats in these little holes and the pup has to lift the top part that covers the hole to get the treat out.
So amazing that you are spreading awareness on such an amazing breed. I have a rescue pitty, a couple tips that really helped with our boys training;
Never let her walk in front of you while on leash (great job with this already)!
Learn what she looks like in a calm state - and train her to know how to go into this state. Our command “lay down-after he is making the motion to lay down we follow with a- all the way down” which is when he will lay on his side and calm himself down. We don’t release him or praise him until he is CALM, note her breathing and eye movements. this took him about 7-9months to fully get, patience with this one.
When we first got him I always would take away/put my hand in the food dish so there would be no food aggression.
Get a dog backpack for your walks/hikes, have her carry water for you and her with a collapsible dish(gives her a job and helps with her fulfillment and drain energy)
Set boundaries within the home. Does not need to be super strict. Have her sit before allowing onto the couch/eating/going outside. Getting her to think/rewarded for pausing.
we could never be too strict our boy is a big suck, but the structure is good for their minds. Remember Pittys are a working breed and will thrive with jobs /tasks small or big throughout the day.
i literally don't like watching vlogs, but something about claudia's channel and editing style/content just makes it so refreshing and makes me enjoy long videos despite having the shortest attention span
I have a almost 1 year old blue heeler/Aussie mix and toys are hard to find durability but a friend suggested that I rotate the toys. Like keep a couple out and the rest put away, it might help with the keeping toys intact and also have ‘busy’ toys that they can chew on.

Claudia! Get a front clasp harness for Peaches! Not only will it be gentler on her chest/neck, but it will keep her from pulling because the front clasp kind of forces her to turn around if she tries to pull. My boxer/lab mix always use to pull we couldn’t go anywhere and we tried moving the leash to clasp in the front instead of the back and he is like a whole different dog!! Also, go to the dog park!!! My pup cannot get his energy out on just walks and playing in the back yard so we go to the dog park everyday for an hour or two and he’s pooped by the end of it! His behavior is so much better and he doesn’t get bored(which is when he finds things to chew) 💋 hope this helped!
i just got an 8mo lab rescue in may, and then we added a year old rescue rottweiler mix to the house in september and i feel your pain (and also excitement and love!). getting dogs, especially rescue dogs and going through training and puppy energy with full sized pups is a lot a lot of work. peaches seems very well adjusted and super smart so i’m very glad she’s found a home with you guys ❤️

Hey Claudia! I have a golden retriever (also named Peaches) and she LOVES “busy sticks”. They are like 2.00 at Pet Smart at the check out line! The busy sticks are made out of vegetables so it’s super healthy and great for chewing on something! Peaches loves them and it keeps her occupied.
another tip is if you want to stick to smaller bulbs, wrap the tree with both and then plug in whichever strand you prefer for the day. my family has done that with gold and white lights. sometimes we wanted just white and sometime we wanted gold too. :)

There are bones with peanut butter in them at petco, those worked really well for my dog for the chewing. At my local grocery store, I found bones that had some meaty stuff on them. They were wrapped separate, and near the meat department. Those worked really well for him. To this day, those bones are his favorite. He likes antlers too, but he prefers bones.
As for allergies, I have a pit mix, he is allergic to chicken and I think he’s also allergic to grasses, so we wash his paws every time he comes in, and he’s on apoquel. It’s literally a miracle. But things to look for: the first thing obviously was scratching, then we noticed he was losing the fur around his eyes and mouth, then he started getting acne on his chin. I know every dog is different, but from talking to my vet, those are pretty classic signs of an allergy.

I have a pit/lab mix and I love that u love ur dog just as much as I do! Also you should ask ur vet about the elevated food bowls because I know that sometimes it actually can cause problems! But y’all are doing great, a dog is such a blessing and companion❤️

My dog also has so much energy. Adding a doggy backpack with a little bit of weight on his daily walks help so much! Also teaching him how to walk on treadmill helps on days that he has extra energy to burn. Peaches is such a cutie 😍

Claudia please don’t feel like you need to apologize for how you train/ what you buy peaches. It’s a learning curve and it’s obvious you are doing everything to give her the best life possible!
to keep my dogs occupied when i find they are high energy- i scatter feed them!! so i throw out into my backyard frozen pees and corn and such (which is 100% safe for pups) and my dogs who are highly food motivated will spend SO long working to get those yummy treats from the grass and come in and take a nap afterwards!! it’s not always about going on runs but stimulating them in every way possible!! love this trick and i’ve used it since they were pups (11 yrs old now and will get excited when he hears the drawer to the frozen pees open)! hope this helps :)

A pet food cube is good for wearing her mind out. Its a cube and you put some of their food in it and they have to roll it around to get the food out. My lab loves it.
I was a vet tech for a couple years and my vet said it doesn’t matter too much what protein they have in terms of allergies as long as they aren’t itching excessively/having runny stool(ik it’s gross)If she isn’t though, she most likely isn’t intolerant. As far as grain free/raw diets, he didn’t think it was necessary. Normal kibble with grain is fine. There are some studies that show grain free foods are linked to a heart condition as well so also keep that in mind😊
I love how much you’re willing to learn and accommodate with Peaches. Of course everyone should love their pets enough to learn but it’s heartwarming to hear you listen to feedback and update us on it :)
It's so cool seeing people go through life changes and adjustments through vlogs :) you're growing up, buying a house, buying a pet, learning so much. Getting a xmas tree.
Tip for keeping your dog interested in fetch, try a frisbee (there are special ones for dogs). Its something that is a little bit more difficult for a dog and they have to learn how to do it. It keeps them more interested, I found with my dogs.
Also mind games, you have these boards where you have to put a threat in and the dog has to push/pull/turn the lid to find it. Keeps them busy!

You are such a good dog mom! So glad you are doing research on whats best for her. A toy that I find my large dogs love to chew (the colors are colors that dogs can see) is from the brand West Paw (Chewy has a great deal on them)
My dogs are 10 and 11 and I swear they have puppy energy still, but they get their zoomies at like 8:30pm before dinner and everyone else is trying to relax it’s the best though because you know when they have that energy they are still healthy and happy and it’s cute watching them have that time of day where all of the energy can’t be held in anymore. Also I’m so glad you seen the messages of the rawhide I was watching your last video while I was in the treadmill the other day and instantly picked my phone up to comment about how bad they are for the doggos. She’s a great girl and just seeing you guys sitting on the couch together you have already bonded and she’s definitely going to be a mummy’s girl and protect you for sure
I highly recommend “KONG Wild Knots Bear Dog Toy”, my pittie is a major chewer and all the other toys we’ve gotten him have been destroyed in minutes but this one is the best one so far. It’s whole skeleton if you must is made out of rope and the external is soft but has no cotton. Kong is the best brand for bigger breeds who love to chew and bite.
I’m in the same boat! Just adopted a full size one year old pit about a month ago and it’s so nice to know our struggles are so similar!!

Your puppy is adorable! We’ve had a pitbul for two years. You are doing awesome and will learn a ton. We got our Clover at a year and 6 months from a shelter. She loves the brand nylobone for toys they are very durable for pitties. Also a durable black Kong will keep her entertained for a while!
Our pit chews through EVERYTHING. We’ve really struggled to find things that prevent her from getting bored, especially during the day when we’re gone. I’ve found that things like bones, horns, and especially antlers keep her entertained soooo much more than toys do. I highly recommend trying an antler, they’re my Mona’s favorite!
I know I’m late to this video but from my experience with pits, Kong toys are great. They come in so many different shapes and textures to keep them interested and they are very durable. I’m also pretty sure that they make toys that have different sections of different colors and textures which tend to keep them more interested. She’s so cute and you are doing so well raising her. Much love❤️

Peaches is such a gorgeous baby girl!! I have a cockerpoo and he is also really sensitive to poultry. Here in the UK we get his food from a company called “fish for dogs” and he LOVES ITTT!!! I’m sure you’ll have something similar in the US.

Hi Claudia!! I have a grey pit mix at home, with SUPER high energy. We take her out daily as well as exercise her with dog/pet puzzles. Nina Ottoman makes some amazing ones! We have a few of those. We also like to teach Luna new tricks!! She's really food driven so it makes it easy to get her attention.. We also like to take her on hikes with us during warmer months, we're from Canada so it's winter over here now. We also play fetch with her often outside or inside, as well as the tug-a-rope (she loves it). A tired dog is a happy dog!!! As far as walking her goes.. Luna (our girl) used to be SUCH A PULLER. and because they are a very strong breed, we got in touch with a trainer. We started walking her with a prong collar (helps tremendously) We used to be so against using collars like that, however we were very uneducated. But now that we have a better understanding of the breed and our girl in general, the prong collar has helped us lots. Peaches is so lucky to have you guys! I watched the vlog where you said she was great in her crate as well, I love that!! Keep it up!! Thank you for also not discriminating against the breed by the way they look and the way society makes them to be. They truly are the best dogs to have. SO lovable and loyal! You guys should make her an instgram page as well :) (@littleluna.s2 if you ever want a friend!!)

Hi! My Pitbull girly is a chewer too, socks are her favorite. Her favorite toys to play with (that she doesn’t destroy) are anything made by Kong. She uses the original shape one the most (we got her the black colored one for extreme chewing) and we will put a treat in her Kong when we leave for work. I feel like it keeps her pretty busy during the day and teaches her to hold things with her paws. I would recommend the 3rd biggest size, my pitty looks to be the same size as yours. We got her originally the 2nd biggest one and she doesn’t use it as much as the other size because it’s too big and she can’t get her mouth around it in her back jaws. Also for ropes the brand Mammoth makes pretty durable ropes and rope products that will last my baby Layla 8 or so months!☺️

For food we give my dog hard food during the day, and then canned beef based food at night to ensure he gets all the nutrients he needs. Of course asking your vet is always a great idea!
For the energy if you’re taking her for 2/3 walks a day then try making one a speed walk or a jog, good for her and you! My dog also loves Kong toys with dog safe pb inside, thick rope toys, and dog treat puzzles! When we play fetch sometimes we will set up obstacles so my dog will have to concentrate on jumping over things or ducking under as well as the toy! Little things to stimulate their brains throughout the day help so much over all!
You guys are doing a great job with her, it’s clear she has a happy loving home! The trees look great, merry Christmas!!

There is some sour apple spray that you can find at the dog store that you can spray on things to make her not want to bite/ teach her not to bite certain things which could maybe be helpful! I used it when my dog was younger :)
we adopted a pit bull 2 years ago who was also around 1 at the time. we had a lot of the same issues... to combat the chewing on EVERYTHING we got Grannick’s Bitter Apple Deterrent and it’s literally a life saver. it got to the point where if he was chewing on something he wasn’t supposed to and we just picked up the bottle he would stop immediately and not do it again. he also destroys every toy EVER besides the extra strength kong that is black and shaped like a bone.
I love that dog!! So glad you got a stand for food! If running/hiking with her isn’t enough to tire her out you should try biking, roller blading, or snowboarding with her! My sister has a boxer that is extremely high energy. After years of struggling they found the trick for him was daily CBD with hiking, skateboarding, or roller blading. He LOVES IT!! He’s so much better behaved after his morning run
Hey Claudia! I recommend elk antlers -- they work WONDERS for my pup, last long, and have lots of calcium and minerals that are good for your dog! I order mine off amazon. You can also look into himalayan chews if you aren't into that sort of thing. I also recommend food puzzles. I recommend the ball shapes ... you basically put kibbel or treats in it and they have to roll the ball to get them out. It keeps my pup super occupied .. I buy mine off of Chewy! ALSO! Try filling her Kong with peanut butter and treats, then sticking it in the freezer for a bit, it will last way longer and keep her busy. And if you can, have some puppy play dates.. whether it's day care, a dog park or a friends dog.. the best way for her to get out some of that puppy energy is to play with another pup! Good luck! My dog is a BIG chewer and he loves split antlers. They dont have any of the draw backs that rawhide has and they last way longer than Billy sticks. Also, elk naturally shed their antlers so there is no cruelty.

This is so cute and dogs definitely change your life. However chewing advice/toys.... fill Kong’s with peanut butter or organic apple sauce or yogurt and freeze them, you can even put in little bits of kibble or treats make your own combinations but helps keep them occupied! Love you guys ❤️
Do you ever think about having a more sustainable make up collection? Like reusable applicators and stuff like that? I usually don’t wear makeup but I have been trying to look for products that are sustainable and I’d love to see if you could do a vid on it.

KONG. The black rubber for strong chewers. U can put some of her food in there or dog safe peanut butter and it’ll keep her busy and away from chewing your things
Aw my husband and I just got our first real tree this year! We’ve had a fake tree every other year but a real tree is fantastic! We have 2 Bulldogs and they lovvveee to chew. They destroy like every toy possible, so we don’t have any toys with stuffing or fluff! We use Zignature kangaroo food because it’s good for the Bulldogs with their allergies that are similar to pit bulls! Our vet recommended it because it’s a lean protein. Peaches is adorable and so is your little family!

We have a border collie and we use Kongs we make 3 every day with sausages, peanut butter, creamy cheese and other things, we then freeze them and we give them to him to keep him occupied when we need to get stuff done. Hope this helps xo
