Maslenitsa, pancakes holiday it is traditional Slavic holiday symbolizing seeing off of winter and meeting of spring.
The history of this holiday is very interesting. Supposed that this holiday appeared on 4th century.
Every year we celebrate Maskenitsa in different dates, it depends on Easter date. So, you need to count back 48 days from Easter and one week (fasting).
    My name is Anastasia.
    Welcome o Ukraine Live.
We celebrate Maslenitsa one week and each day has its meaning.
Monday - guests day. According to ancient belief, whoever remains in the house will bury his household
Tuesday - fun day. Guys were looking for brides, and girls for husbands.
Wednesday - delicious day. Housewives cooked different tasty dishes, mothers-in-law treated sons-in-law with pancakes.
Thursday - also fun day. Families gathered together, built snow castles, staged horse races.
Friday - mother-in-law evening. Sons-in-law treated mothers-in-law and then sons-in-law had to ride mothers-in-law through the streets of a village or city
Saturday - sister-in-law day. Wives treated with pancakes husbands’ sisters, entertained them and gave some presents.
Sunday - forgiveness day. People asked forgiveness from loved ones for their insults.
Today we are going to ask people different questions regarding Maslenitsa and its traditions. Stay tuned, you will like it!

looks like fun. I live close to the hometown of Mark Twain, and we have "Tom Saywer Days" lots of dress up, the fence painting contest, and other events brought from the books. Pretty good time.
