- The last chapter in this restoration endeavor and getting this BMW 7 series back to its former glory. The satisfaction level is pretty big in this one as we complete paint correction, interior detail and then take a lap around the famous Nürburgring! I also tell you how much money I've thrown at this V12 E38 to get it up to snuff and then have a delicious yogurt cup.

@@benkse2010 Not quite, but he does about an 92% job - not sure about updates to the last best p/n's for components either, but I am not normal either and mine for own enjoyment were better than showroom condition and always performed better.

I will forever regret letting my E38 (2001 740i) go after thousands to restore her to perfection. At 57 years old, I have owned a lot of vehicles and none even compares to the E38, it was the height of automotive perfection that no one understands who has never had a proper example of one in their driveway. I congratulate you on yet another fantastic restoration that you too will one day regret letting go of.
Had my 740il stolen while out of the country..been looking to replace it for 3 years now. Moose Steak selling yours! Sure this one is sold by now. Great car + guy + channel!
I advice you to rebuy another.E38..maybe a 750 "james bond" or an L7 or even in LWB if your precedent was Shprt..for not regret your ex car , ...me too i lett my first Sel 600 w140 is was black. In 2006 .i rebuy another 600 Sel same but in blue my favorite color. ...........
WELL SAID. I didn’t own it but had the privilege of driving a 740 ‘99 for an entire summer (friend was deployed) the previous owner (also a good friend) kept it immaculate. When I got it I literally filled 4 glad garbage bags full of trash out of it. Spent 1 full 12hr day detailing the outside, then another on the inside. Here in N.Italy 🇮🇹 the speed limits are loosely enforced...That car ran so smooth at sustained 125mph(210kmh). BEAUTIFUL CARS.
@@SprayIgniteBoom Too True! Loved the suspension after 160kph it squats and steering tightens. Always give a borrowed car back cleaner and full gas. Check tires, oils. fluids. Class act.
@@petepenn1 It was a COMPLETELY different approach to building/designing vehicles. I get that post ‘10 cars have more ‘gadgets’ but many of those cover up the poorly designed steering racks, overall quality and DRIVER inputs...either way self driving electric cars will get government backing and the mass public will love them...🤔👌🙁

Congrats on completing an amazing restoration job. It has definitely been a fun journey to watch. I liked your no compromise approach even tho it landed you on a higher total cost. This car deserved it.
Comment 3- I was 16 working at a BMW dealer. I drove this car new. Learned manual on 88 M5, drove Orange 635 CSI and new 93 chipped M3s. Of this 7 series I loved the pearl light purple color. I drove one all the time and loved it.

As a fellow owner of a 2001 Titanium E38 750il with gray leather, I really enjoyed this restoration. I have owned mine for 10years and logged almost 100K on the car, currently sitting at 204K. Your videos have inspired me to go through and mechanically restored my 1991 E31 6spd. This Saturday my mechanic and I worked together to tear down to the intake seals. I think we will go to the valley pan and replace the coolant o rings , water pump. I have an E32 750il with 64K original miles that will be next. Between you and bimmerforums we get the opportunity to enjoy some of the best driving cars ever made.

Honestly, $26,000 for a 20 year old V12 7 series that has had all the problems fixed by someone who knows what they're doing and did it properly and has paint correction is a fantastic deal.
Absolutely! And you just know it is going to be worth quite a bit more than that in a few years time too! So its a very secure investment.

$16k is definitly a lot, but when you consider this car was over $100,000 new in todays money, its not so bad. And this is an amazing car, it deserves to be restored.

It's worth 30k at minimum. Haggling and finding someone that really wants it can bring it up to 35-40k easily.

I really enjoyed this video. I was 16 yrs old when I got a job at a VW/BMW dealer outside Chicago. I learned to drive stick shift on an 88 M5. Drove 850s and new M3s chipped by Dinan and those beautiful 7 series cars as new. The older BMWs were total class and built to last. If my job and paycheck improves I’ll be reaching out to buy one of your properly “restored with care” cars.

A 750iL in this condition is worth a hell of a lot of money. Amazing job done with this car. In 2005 I bought a 1994 E34 M5 touring. I had it for 6 years. God how I loved that car. Would be wonderful to see him get his hands on one of those classics.
