    Wonderful informative social piece. My grandparents passed away in Karachi around 35 years ago and are buried in Society qabristan next to Rehmania mosque. I lived in Karachi for couple years in the late 90s, and my father and I used to tend to their graves regularly. Ten years ago on our visit to the city we wanted to go to the graveyard to pay our respect but could not find the graves due to overcrowding. For me, that was one of the last few connections that I had with the city and even that was gone. As you state, even in death you can't find peace in the city due to corruption and incompetence (kinda makes me wonder as to why Karachi even needs a mayor).

    I felt exactly the same when I went to recite Fatiha for My Mother resting in Sakhi Hasan! I had to walk over the graves, jump over them, I felt like what am I doing? How would I feel if it were me sleeping and someone had to walk over me like this? And why is everyone so calm over this thought, why isn’t it pondered over?? SOMEONE HAS TO STAND UP FOR ALL THIS, FOR THE SAKE OF OUR LOVED ONES and their LIFE AFTER DEATH! Please do not let this issue vanish to nowhere after this, I pray your work comes to great fruition, Wajahat! You will have loadssss of more prayers from many others IN SHA ALLAH!

  • @mariyaqazi745
    @mariyaqazi745 5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I have to break the silence on this issue. Why it is only happening in Pakistan or in Karachi that we are lacking burial place?
    Firstly, Islam doesn't allow to make marbles on the grave and to keep it for 100years. Islam says that destroy the graveyards. In KSA, particularly in Jannatul Baki (one of the most honoured burial place where most of the relatives of Prophet are buried, the Saudi government destroys them by bulldozer and make the surface flat again. In our country, we know everything yet we are not practicing what Islam says.
    The reason why graves are not kept is because they become source of biddah . People start visiting their loved one's graves with flowers etc.

    • @AAA-uz7hm
      @AAA-uz7hm 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like your views but its easy to say we know every thing what is right what is wrong but it's hard to follow by us nobody wants this type of grave of his love one's

    • @mariyaqazi745
      @mariyaqazi745 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AAA-uz7hm you are right. There will be an issue over this as well. Now, Maafia is also involved. This is sadly one of the dilemma of our society. We need to change our concepts. Graves are nothing but bones, decomposing in soil. Soul has all the meaning and it passes away right at the time of death. That's why instead of visiting grave of loved ones Islam says recite and make dua for the departed soul. Its enough. If someone's parents has passed away, become a source of Sadqah Jariah . It will all reach there to souls.
      May Allah give us all guidance. Ameen

    • @JehanzebAhmed
      @JehanzebAhmed 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @Mariya Qazi. This video opens to many conflicts and practices which are done in very worng ways. I very much agree to your veiws about decoration of marble on the grave and also putting the shade on top of it. All this will not make the afterlife easier in the grave for the one's who have gone only will thier good deed's which they did during their life. But unfourtanetly people think this will help their loved one's but this is solely the inner staisfaction. Shockingly, even educated people are pracitsing this so whats the difference between educated and unedcucated people.

    My mother’s grave was destroyed one night last month and a new grave was created in its place within a matter of hours in Mohd Shah Qabristan New Karachi. The grave was there since 2001, and was well maintained. I personally got the patch cleaned 6 months back. There was no government official at the graveyard to whom I could complain, I went to the deputy commissioner office and they told me it is a matter of KMC, KMC has a website but the complaint section doesn’t work. I talked to the Police, but everyone cautioned me against involving them. I talked to a political person but they have no interest. Several people in my family live abroad including myself and had a desire to get buried in Pakistan, but after the incident that desire has finished. Money alone is not enough now, living in Karachi without “connections” is a nightmare and it’s only getting worse.

      @@EVERYTHING-ll2pe Thanks for clarifying your intent and for your kind words. May Allah grant Jannah to your loved ones who've passed away. If there was fear of law such a thing would not have happened with me or anyone else, nor people like you would be constantly worried. For most people visiting graves every other day is not possible. Pakistan has become a terrible place to live for most of it's citizens, only those who are well-connected can expect to be treated fairly.

    P.S: Typing, writing, commenting can be justified, since typing out Urdu on keyboards is much harder. But narration should be done in OUR LANGUAGE URDU!

Very well captured by @Wajhat & Team , but feel sad and depressed after seeing this. The summary to all this is that only the influentials , Beaucrats and high end money makker's are destroying the community with their power and greed and leaving the poor to suffer with no means to make their life better.

    Hearbreaking and eyeopening documentary. High quality work but the primary audience of this documentary is the local population which is why it should've been completely in Urdu (with Englsih subtitles). Your hard work won't reach nearly 50% of your target audience (just an estimate) because they won't understand a word and lose interest.

    Space for Graveyards are a problem, wherever dead bodies need to be interred. In HongKong, reserving space for grave can cost millions. And they are trying to find alternatives, such as creating ossiaries. A few of the countries in west have started considering cremation and then interning the ashes. These are desperate measures. And I do recognise a dead body has to be handled in religiously permitted manner and this emotional issue is beyond arguments.
    But as a wider issue, with growing population and scarcity of land, this will always remain a challenge.
