I cant help but realise that Mike had everyone in blindfolds and then took them to White Sands in the middle of the day. He basically flashbanged them with natural measures.
The fact that the guys are having so much fun together makes this such a pleasure to see. The thrill of discovery and competitiveness enhances the experience. I love that it is a really busy and exciting series, with amazing gastronomic sections!!!! Great job, Mike!
Of course they wouldn't show them not having fun. It's advertising so they will look like they're enjoying it in the final edit. They're a working team however, with a filming crew, and I can't help it but think they are doing their best to keep the good vibe going, even if some of the activities are not to their liking or they're tired or perhaps too much chillies was painful the next day. Which in turn is appreciated by others in the team as it makes it easier to film and do the job. They may be the dream team but it's not a holiday as such.
I’ve really enjoyed watching this series. The holidays have been a downer time for me unfortunately, and so it’s nice getting to have a little escape watching these. Cheers gents!
@@cassynedelisky796 appreciate the sincerity. Ehh, just one of those things where the seasons have lost touch with me. And I don’t know if seasonal depression or what…
I wish more people would visit New Mexico. There is so much ancient and indigenous history to discover here that just isn't taught in US schools. Seeing how "Americans" lived 3,000 years ago will absolutely scramble your worldview. And then there's the food! One of the things I miss most about living in the southwest. Such an ancient and proud culture.
Also, RE: Ben's comment about the color turquise! The stone is formed by water flowing through rock over millions of years, and in a desert water is obviously incredibly important. So the color is also a representation of resilience, and the natural bounty of the land for those who steward it in harmony. 🥰
I am gritting my teeth to keep from making a correction. I don't want to be a curmudgeon and bring down the spirit of the video, but it's hard, it's hard.
What i love about these episodes are - despite how long you guys have been great friends, your learning so many new things about eachother on this trip in the best way
The US Department of Commerce's Travel and Tourism office should sponsor a few of these regional series in the future (seriously, you guys should reach out). Great content
What a beauty New Mexico is! Thanks for showing and respecting the Native American history that flows throughout the state and area of the country. I can't wait to visit Taos!
The guys having so much fun together is what makes this an absolute joy to watch. The discovery and competition adds to the enjoyment of this. Love that it is a very active and adventurous series, along with great foodie sections!!!! Fabulous job Mike!
I started watching Sorted because I am a foodie (although 'old' age and disabilities limit my own time in the kitchen) ,and in the various episodes there is indeed plenty of cooking...but what I love is the added bonus of humour, and idiotic challenges, and history lessons, and tasting foods, and torturing one another with 'poker face' and then glorious travelogues such as this mini-series...thanks for the variety boys...there is truly content here for everyone!
I've been enjoying this series. Colorado will be as exciting and fun as these three have been, I'm certain. As a life-long New Mexican you did us proud, Mike. When you asked the State question, "Red or Green?" and Ebbers gave the most festive answer, "Christmas" I knew you'd done your homework. Thank you. Should any of you return to the area, might I recommend Carlsbad Caverns (with or without a video, it's stunning to watch a bat flight). Again, thank you so much for representing my home so well.
I love New Mexico. I was once in a blinding snowstorm in Taos at the Pueblo. It was the most wonderful magical white winter wonderland! If you didn't make it this time around, Michael's Kitchen in Taos is one of the most delicious restaurants in America. I dream of going back there. I adore these videos. I've watched each and everyone with a huge grin on my face. I love watching four old friends discover new things around my country!
As a native New Texican (being from a very small town on the state line with Texas), I was happy to see so many places covered. If y'all decide to go back to New Mexico again, I'd recommend Carlsbad Caverns, Ruidoso/Cloudcroft, and Las Cruces as further places to visit. I was also happy to hear the amount of research that was done about the name of Truth or Consequences (T or C, most of us say).
Mike as a born and raised New Mexican you did a great job. I would have liked to see Old Mesilla and Carlsbad Caverns but as you had a time crunch you did as good as anyone would have been able too.
Yes! I've been waiting for you to get to my second home. Did you know you can camp overnight and sleep on the dunes at White sands? The stars are absolutely unbelievable. You can watch the Milky Way pass over you
3 men blindfolded in the back of a van and then blinded by white sand and sunlight. What a way to start the trip... Great job Mike! Also - no wrong turns, no missed vehicles, no lost passports... From everything we've heard and seen of Mike's travels, it's great to see a trip where everything goes smoothly. Growth! Huge props to Izzy and Tom for the incredible camera work and production.
Once again, fantastic viewing guys. You must have had so much fun. Just wish these videos were 2 hours long because they are so much fun to watch. Awesome
As a New Mexican, seeing them go to White Sands at the beginning made me very happy. i only lived 20 mins from there, and at weekends, there was always so much fun.
I absolutely love Mike's attention to historical detail. Especially paired with very cool experiences. However, some of the mispronunciations cracked me up.
Brought a tear to my eye. My friend, Chris Varner, chef, BBQ pit master, chilli head.... based in Maricopa Arizona, introduced me to Hatch chillies and the insane Hatch Chilli festival. Amazing man, amazing place. Sadly long gone, but always around, thanks to the hatch chilli seeds he was kind enough to send me
Every summer in Boise the grocery stores ship in boxes of big green fresh Hatch Chiles, set up out in front of the store, and roll them in these GIANT black wire smokers that look like those old bingo ball rollers. The smell is incredible. Awesome to see where they come from! 🌶️ And YES, Jay, a proper tortilla is a game changer (as someone raised in the Sonoran desert and unable to find good ones for YEARS after leaving).
My old manager always drive down to Hatch and buy like few hundred lb of green chilly and host a roast with the black wire smoker every year. Shit so loud but fresh roasted chilly is something else. Sadly my spice tolence not that high lol.
i think the best part of Mike's trip is the sunset train...but not so much coverage..i feel like this trip a bit rushed or maybe not getting enough footage from this trip
A few throwback moments: - Dune boarding reminded me of Barry’s “Right in the goolies” moment - Testing chilli products in Hatch reminded me of the Habanero sauce video (OG Fridgecam)
This is how I know me and Mike would be friends. He picked NM and did all the things i love to do down there. And it's a prerequisite to get Christmas style chile. Was just in ABQ and would've loved seeing yall there
New Mexico is absolutely stunning! I couldn't believe the landscape, it's got an almost unearthly beauty to it. I found myself utterly fascinated by the ancient cave dwellings, but if I'm honest, the one moment which really transported me was the brief view of the bridge at 21:42 - I want to know more about that bridge. Oh, and the food looked okay, too. Well done, Mike - you deserved a better score.
Nice trip Mike, but, if you ever get to NM again Carlsbad Caverns is a must. We traveled the southwest every year for summer vacation. It was one of the most amazing places I have seen.
So each state only can offer a certain amount of things. That’s why some states are more popular than others. But he made the absolute best of that state and I think that’s what the grading should be on.
I'm so glad you boys made it to my home state AND home town (Santa Fe)! Not to mention discovering what ordering "Christmas" means there. Well done, Mike!
I live in Ruidoso, to the East of Alamogordo/White sands and I absolutely loved watching everyone explore places I've grown up around, my family goes to white sands every year just to relax. Relleno is pronounced Ray-yan-no. As a kid I went on a school trip to Pueblo and they taught us how to make adobe bricks out of mud and straw. I adore that Mike got New Mexico and I was very worried at the beginning Barry would have it lol. I am very proud of everything you showed off and I hope next time you visit you can come see the mountains and forests, the Smokey Bear Historical Park is a great spot.
I can't lie as someone from the 4 corners area Mike probably had the hardest job. New Mexico is proper desolate, it really is exactly like Breaking Bad and this really undersells the amount of driving time through absolute stark desert to get between the couple points of interest. The food is good though. Jamie on the other hand was spoiled for choice, Arizona is absolutely packed with interesting stuff and some of the most amazing nature in the country. rolly-pollies down hills are fun. i lived on a steep hill until i was 6 and i spent all my spare time doing just that. i love the fruity chili flavour. would have loved a vintage bus ride too, but there is always Winchester running day
I am so happy you all got to experience a great state. I have lived in New Mexico my whole life and have always loved it. Im also so glad you guys got to try some Hatch Green Chile it is such an incredible ingredient. I am glad you guys had a great time.

I guess I've been watching you guys long enough that you feel like additional nephews, and seeing you have so much fun (I was concerned about your lack of adequate sun screen usage, I saw those burned knees going into the hot springs) has been fun. I love White Sands. My parents took me there as a tiny girl, and it is burned in my mind as a magical place, actually, all of the desert, but especially White Sands. New Mexico is such a tough trip to do in so little time. My grandmother lived in Las Cruces when I was growing up and even with years of visits, there was always something new marvel to discover, but they are all spread out!!! Mike did a fabulous job of showcasing some of the incredible gems that this state has to offer. This was a real blast from the past for me, and I enjoyed sharing it with my mother - fond memories of familiar places that more of the world should see.
The timing of this video is really lovely. There's so much division and fear in the US right now that it feels like a somewhat doomed place to live, to be honest. This video reminds me there is so much to appreciate and so much beauty to be grateful for. Thank you guys for seeing the world with a sense of adventure and taking us along for the ride ❤
As an American I'm always proud to see foreigners enjoying the rich and vibrant culture and beauty of the United States. Maybe you'll realize, if even a little bit, why we can be a bit proud of it.
Mild white cheese and mild green chiles is a favorite combo of mine. I love hot food too. On the subject of tacos and tortillas, both flour and corn tortillas are easy to make. Faster with a tortilla press, maybe you could try one on a gadget episode. Fresh delicious tacos and burritos are within your reach. Maybe Jamie could smoke a brisket. Even potato and egg is great. You’ve been to Texas, so you know Texans put nearly anything into a taco and eat at any meal. I so love seeing you all visiting and eating in the US.
I’ve really enjoyed watching this series! You guys always manage to make amazing content! What a great adventure! You make the holidays better with these!
So that most of the world can relate you may consider asking how to pronounce the food, places and other things. The S on Taos is silent for instance. Mike did say taco correctly once. Good on you Mike!
Welcome to New Mexico! I'm so happy you were able to come. Sledding at White Sands is so much fun, I'm glad you were able to do that. A picnic at sunset is fabulous there. I was born and raised in NM, but due to work spent almost 40 years in the central and northern plains and have recently moved back. So, when I came home to visit a trip to Hatch was mandatory to restock my chile supplies. Please do come back, there is so much more to see, do and eat here.
I think Mike ought have recieved higher points, you guys... his itinerary was awesome and hit on some of my favorite experiences I had in New Mexico. Maybe you needed more time to explore, for example, the Santa Fe Brewing Company, the dinosaur history, the Trail Of Tears, the one pach of mountain with an isolated forest in souther NM... so much to see.
You got Santa Fe! It doesn't get much better than that! The Sky Railway is thanks to people like George R R Martin who saved this old line from abandonment. Santa Fe has and incredible food and art site
I cant help but realise that Mike had everyone in blindfolds and then took them to White Sands in the middle of the day. He basically flashbanged them with natural measures.
It was pretty bright there! Definitely worth it though 👍
The combination must have been brutal.
Well the flash is clear enough, but what about the bang?

I agree! Think he deserves a much better score. It felt really well thought out.
I agree! He went to great lengths to give everyone great experiences. He absolutely deserved higher scores!

"I can't see anything! It's so white!"
Funny, that's what my spouse says whenever I take my top off.
