at first I was a bit shocked to hear your voice because I am currently binge-watching and this is the first video I encountered hearing your voice. halfway through the video I found it really helpful and soothing - you have a nice voice man 😂👌

This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection th-cam.com/users/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seem to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

I'm really liking these talkies you're putting out now! I've always watched your videos as educational entertainment, and hearing your thoughts and reasoning on why you do something a particular way only makes it better.

Aways great to have Jimmy narrate. Very calming voice that draws you in. Like David Attenborough in the old "Life on Earth" series. Even if you didn't care about the content the presentation was so enjoyable. DiResta happens to cover both bases: great content and presentation.

The brass is also really helpful in insuring the bond made by the wood glue. It also adds a little bit more heft to the mallet, which is sometimes useful. Beautiful work.

I really love to see you building tools from scratch. I have absolutely no use for a mallet but I would love to own one just to watch it and touch it. I think I'm weird but I like tools.

I made a big mallet like that ages ago and absolutely loved it, used it for everything. But I was a kid when I made it, and I did everything the hard way. I've been thinking about how to make a new one for a goodly while, and I love how clean your process is. I think I'm going to borrow the way you cut that taper, that was slick as hell. Many thanks Jimmy. Respect.

Was great to hear the narration and your thought processes while working in this one! Really like the hammer and brass rings to not only strengthen but give the hammer that old school look. You and the hammer reminded me of your old "Hammered" TV show. Appreciate the reference to "Jack Webb" Productions. That was cool.

Nice design, I need to make a couple of job specific mallets soon and the brass rings are a nice touch.
Shame about the drive/live centre marks on the mallet faces but I suppose they'll fade with use.
It's something I used to overlook in my earlier lathe projects but now I take it into account and cut them off or mount the work in such a way that it doesn't leave them in the first place i.e. by using a chuck and a soft cover over the live centre.

To get rid of most of the sanding marks, I usually sand a finish with 180 and 230 grit sandpaper and after that I use the shavings of the turned piece to give it a nice polish. This way I usually don't have to polish manually and can go straight to sealing the surface...
