    Great DIY Project. You did a great job as a homeowner and as your first time. Not to be condescending at all but the 'proper' way is to use a belt sunder and then the random orbit sander afterwards. Most rental places will rent you a drum sander which will work as well. The downside of using a professional belt sander is they have a steep learning curve and it is easy to ruin a hardwood floor with one. There are good videos on how to refinish a hardwood floor if you want to attempt it. Just using a random orbit machine as featured in this video will do the job, it will just take considerably longer. The goal is to remove all finish from the wood and to flatten the wood. When done sanding, the wood should be completely flat and raw with no scratches or swirls from sanding. Use a microfiber mop that is barely damp to wipe up dust and sanding particles between grits. Once sanding is done, apply your filler per instructions in an even but thin coat with a trowel (10 inch would be a good start. Lightly sand the corners of the trowel so they are lighty rounded so the corners do not snatch the floor). Sand once more to remove excess filler and thoroughly mop. Then apply your finish per instructions. Again, great job in the video. I own a business and install and refinish hardwood for reference of may opinion above.

    Thank you so much for this! I have a house-full of this same flooring, and while I love it, it's been neglected for years. Hiring someone to do this was going to be really expensive, but watching your video makes me think I might be able to tackle this job.

    Omg I'm so happy I found your video. I just doing renovation in my flat and when i remove my carpet I was shocked because I've got same parquet as you've got . I called companies and they telling me price between £1000-£1500 😬 which i can't afford. But once i watch your video i think i will do it the same way as you done it 😊

    Also love that you don’t verbally end every sentence with a question mark? Like so many people do? It’s so annoying? And really takes away from their video?😊

    Hi, we live on a boat with teak parquet floors. It's become very scratched as we do galley renos so I know there is a floor refinishing episode on our our own channel for us in the next 6 months! We find the teak overpowering in the cabin so our galley reno has minimized that a bit, but I'd like to underplay the teak colour on the floor if possible. Any suggestions on an oil product (as that is the best for teak) that won't necessarily deepen the almost-cherry colour of the teak? Thanks for this very straight-forward video.

    • @TheAwesomeOrange
      @TheAwesomeOrange  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would look into using RubioMonocoat on the floors. It is hard wax oil based product and you can get it in lots of colors to help tint the teak to just the color you want. Or for a marine grade finish I would check with TotalBoat.com. Love lots of their products… not sure what they have for teak though. 🍊

    • @gothatawaychrisandsandra
      @gothatawaychrisandsandra ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheAwesomeOrange Thanks I will check those out. One thing I've read about teak is that any "paint" gets in to the grain for teak and it becomes almost impossible to sand it out later. I'm still reading and learning but will follow up on your suggestions.

    OMW - after looking at this video you have inspired me to do this myself - I used a company to do my parquet floors about 3.5 months ago and the finishing the put on resulted in bubbles ( last minute i decided to switch from waterbased to polyutherane and i so mad at myself) - told me it will dissipate but it didnt really and now now have a 50QM floor with areas that bubbles - so p**issed off I didnt want to deal with the company again and now i look at this i feel i can do it myself ! May I please ask - HOW LONG did the entire process take from sanding to final curing ? Super thanks - From South africa

      Good question. I didn’t want to gunk up the sandpaper and make sure that I got all of the old finish off. Doing it in this order I could make sure the filler didn’t cover any of the old finish. 🍊
