Good evening This is the voice of Enigma In the next hour, we will take you with us into another world Into the world of music, spirit, and meditation Turn off the light, take a deep breath, and relax Start to move slowly, very slowly Let the rhythm be your guiding light
The chants you hear are Gregorian chants in Latin and the girl speaking is French. Enigma is a German group created by Michael Cretu, the husband of German singer Sandra.
I remember buying this album on CD when it came out & agonizingly waiting until it got dark before lighting the room with only the lava lamp, laying on the sofa & smoking an enormous Marly. Bloody great.
A great band.i like Enigma - Return To Innocence . They mix music from round the world.Have you had a look at Mike Oldfield? The songs of Distant Earth is a great album.Stay safe young lady.
The album 'The Songs of Distant Earth' is based on the book of the same title, by Arthur C. Clarke, with each track relating to the parts of the story. Great album. Great book.
I never understood the lyrics when it came out, it just has a moody sexy vibe and a beautiful ambient sound and feeling. I would just listen for the sake of listening because it's awesome. That being said, I just looked at the English translation and was very surprised! I always thought it was a song about SADNESS but the word was SADENESS! It's a discussion or revery about how or why the Marquis de Sade does what he does. Check out the translation. I guess it would pay to add French and Latin to my list of languages to learn.
this is not music, and absolutely not art,THIS go further music and art . All Enigma ‘s creatures touch, mentally and physically all the senses of human mind, and (y not?) body. Just a question, y in Italy need TH-cam to enjoing these masrterpieces?
I thought the name of the song is Sadeness. Of course it’s been 100 years since I’ve heard it, so what do I know? I was once upon a time obsessed with this album.
May I please offer a suggestion for a future video? I know you would absolutely love this song... "Woman in Chains" by Tears For Fears. They wrote this song to feature Oleta Adam's (a woman they found singing in the lounge at a Howard Johnsons hotel). A song about spousal abuse and survival with such soul and passion, it's not to be missed. Please look for it. 😊
I love what we now call world music. It's really just music from around the world. Sometimes, like here, you get people from around the world making music together. ❤😊
Remember sitting in my cabin , feet up on the table , case of cold beer down the side of the chair just dreaming the evening away . Better days, stay safe .
the title is actually Sadeness, as in the Marquis de Sade who was known for committing sex crimes and for having a questionable sexual appetite for inflicting pain. The terms sadist and Sadomasochism are derived from his name. This song questions his sexual preferences.
I noticed the word "Help " in your thumb nail. It reminded me of of the John Farnham version of the Beatles song "Help". Now there's a song you should react to. Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is probably the best 👌 😊
The 80s and early 90s were very creative in musical experimentation and fusion of genres. Today all music has become homogenized because it is created by the same algorithms. A Spanish university had passed 500,000 titles under an algorithm of analysis of harmonies, construction and musical richness, etc. and the results were clear, music has been getting poorer for 30 years, just like the lyrics, but we can all hear it.
ENIGMA - " Gravity Of Love (official) " VIDEO 1990's CLASSIC absolutely Hypnotizing Vocals by SANDRA C. a Ethereal/Ambient/World Beat/Electronic w/ Amazing Intro by Choir leading up to the Beautiful vocals of SANDRA C. and Creative Music Arrangements of Michael Cretu. FANTASTIC SONGS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED there's many Equally Ethereal Ambient Grooves in other songs by ENIGMA , they need more recognition I believe.

How often do you hear a song sung in Latin and in French? The first time I heard this song, I picked up on the languages and was blown away by it...that and the music itself. . The male chorus singers (they are singing in Latin here) in this song is a band called 'Gregorian" (Masters of Chant). They have a big catalog of songs. . Sadeness...a reference to the Marquis de Sade. In this song, he is being questioned on his religion and humanity. In French. . Enigma albums really should be listened to from start to finish without interruption.
They took the chant from a Catholic choir without permission and lost the lawsuit. At start it says, "procedamus in pace, in nomine Cristi, amen," meaning, "we proceed in peace in the name of Christ, amen."
This 'song', or piece, how to call it, have been a basic set on a strip clubs all over decades. At least this part of planet. Maybe it has that special sensual kind easy relaxing beat, makes a nice effect with girl rollin around the pole. By the way here the name is sadenes, it is formed from french writer marquis de sade, which appears on a lyrics. Sade, dit moi...So sadness, I do not know where that's been taken.

They also collaborated with people like Sarah McLachlan and Enya. Loved them for decades. ❤
You should check out all their tracks, they are just amazing evergreen tracks, never will their music get outdated.

@@PeterDay81 I'll second that Songs of Distant Earth comment, and throw in a bit of Deep Forest too.
The album 'The Songs of Distant Earth' is based on the book of the same title, by Arthur C. Clarke, with each track relating to the parts of the story. Great album. Great book.
@HeccieThump-k4o I love the book too.
It was my first time listening, but I loved the hypnotic vibe. Thank you!

I have really liked this song since i was a child. Which was when it came out.
I remember this one. I always thought it would be funny to see the Monks jump up and start dancing when the music kicked in. lol
Forgot about them, been since 90s.

The chant is Gregorian. It is how the Psalms were intended to be read... sung. In the original Latin.
I love what we now call world music. It's really just music from around the world. Sometimes, like here, you get people from around the world making music together. ❤😊
It's all about letting your mind relax for a few...have a moment to relax. Love you

In 'Gravity Of love' it was not Sandra, it was Ruth-Ann Boyle. She also sings in 'Silence Must Be Heard', 'Boum Boum', 'Following the Sun'.
Was well into Enigma back in the day still sounds decent 👍

You can't listen to enigma with your eyes open. Nice. ❤
By the time this came out, I was off all the addictive stuff. But I remember thinking, this would go well with a nice, mellow, stick of green.
The first time i heard this was by candlelight during a power outage. That was a very weird experience.
Try Beloved by VNV Nation.
my POV..Gregorian monks chanting in latin..the Marquis De Sade is being questioned in french about his religion and humanity..
Exactly
