- CA hwy 120 the HWY to Yosemite National park.
2 1/2 miles of narrow, twisty, steep, harrowing road with a serious lack of guard rail. Think roller coaster with no rails and a 100+ foot drop to the bottom of the gulch. WHEEEeeeee!
looks like some of the roads I've taken to get to some of your caches.
- the paving.
It's AVERAGE is around 13% with some portions right at 20%. Going up is
actually easy. Coming down you must be careful to keep your speed down
by using 1st and 2nd gear (low gears) on your engine/transmission. If
you rely on your brakes your brakes will over heat and likely fail.
I've got one of the best stopping cars on the road, a Mazda Miata. I
arrogantly thought I could coast and save gas while relying only on the
brakes. My brakes failed just before the stop sign at the bottom and,
fortunately, there were no cars on the main highway as despite me
STANDING on the brakes, the car just kept going. It was really scary.
I don't know why my comment was repeated and despite my trying to delete the extras, I'm unable to do so.
