One of the most professional interviews ever. Most people ask Bomer ridiculous questions about him being good-looking or gay. This interview asks the important stuff without being offensive or vain.
One of my closest friends has been raving and applauding "The Normal Heart" ofr the last weeks. Living in Germany, I haven't had access to the film, but am extremely eager to see it. I lived in NYC in the early 80's and remember the frightening inital days and weeks when HIV/AIDS became dreaded letters in our alphabet. When I mentioned this film to an old friend (from my NYC days), he told me his own story about some trips to Fire Island during those earlier years...and the loud-mouthed man at the dock trying to persuade all the young men to use condoms. How amazing! Till this film's exposure, I had not heard of Matt Bomer...and until this interview wasn't aware that he is gay. It is with great joy to watch and listen to him: he's eloquent, sincere and comes across as a warm-hearted and involved man - who wouldn't be captivated by his innate sweetness, his natural charm and beauty. I hope to see the film...and experience the special history of this awakening and the growth it has engendered...and celebrate the achievements and talents of the gifted and inspirational artists/people who collaborated in such a poignant, heartening film.
I watched the Normal Heart yesterday! Matt Bomer is just incredible i was in tears, the suffering and the ignorance of the world. He's an Oscar future winner, he deserves it xxxx
Matt is such a thoroughly nice guy, his interviews are always interesting and respectful and I love the way that he is always so generous in complimenting other actors and crew yet is also very modest about his own achievements. Despite his popularity, success and stardom he still has his feet firmly on the ground and derives such pleasure from spending time with his family. He’s got his values right and is obviously passing those onto his children, he’s truly a great Dad and husband. I wish him continuing success for the future and to seeing him in more amazing productions, with maybe an album at some point to celebrate his awesome voice!
I don't think that if anyone else played the roll of Felix it would of had the same emotional effect on people. Matt Bomer is such an outstanding actor I hope he is nominated for an Oscar and wins.
He just recently got nominated for an Emmy!!!! Because this was on television and not on a big screen he can't be nominated for an Oscar. I wish he could, but he can't!!!!
I adore Matt! This interview shows what a gracious, humble, good-hearted human being he is. And he's an awesome actor, takes his job very seriously as well as he's able to be light-hearted and funny on set. Love you, Matt. Thank you for your moving performance on The Normal Heart!
Wow! Really impressive personality. I have just finished watching White Collar. The way he plays Neal has changed so much after The Normal Heart. Impressive project and impressive work.
Kush I agree, I just a saw an interview with someone from IMDb about his indie film Walking Out, he played a father of an estranged teenage son. The moron from IMDb prefaced his statement to Matt about being too pretty and too young to be a father, and how that had to a stretch. What a creep. His looks have nothing to do with his actually ability, and since he was about 36 and has three kids, so seriously. Too pretty and too young, I thought only women were that bitchy to each other.
I admire Matt's body of work. He is a natural at his craft. Truly gifted and talented. Haven't seen "the normal heart" so I can't comment on it. Unfortunately they are canceling "White Collar" after this season. I think that USA network is making a big mistake. I will miss it. Would love to see for another network to pick it up.
is this interview made before the winnings of 3 major award giving bodies?? i think its a major achievement for him , Matt is uplifted to the serious actors to watch after this movie...
@mattbomer i love u so much... your role in The normal heart just changed ny views related to sexuality. it doest matter anymore... the only thing matters is love... such an honest man u r... i admire you love you
Nice Interview with really good questions. Matt Bomer is such an awesome actor and did such an awesome job in "The Normal Heart". I watched it yesterday on my cable TV and me and my husband just cried and thanked God for putting such good people back in 80s to fight for our rights. He is gourgeous and good looking, but also a good example for so many young and older LGBT person. I liked to know more about Matt and his job... NIce video :D
I heard about this play when I was younger. I grew up in the 90's and I heard a lot of people dying from this disease. People were generally afraid of this disease, and they thought they were going to die. Now people are living longer, and have medications for this.
***** Just because a man says another man is good-looking, that does not mean they are gay or bi. It simply means they are comfortable to admit another guy is attractive. Get that through your head. -______-
crfstewarje He/she was just teasing. It's good to own it that you find him attractive. No one will think you're gay/bi for thinking it - anyone, male or female, who doesn't think it is blind.
"It's funny that they do get laughs..." said the interviewer. Assuming he means the characters (actors) are able to make the audience laugh, in a few place,s despite the serious subject of the film.

That's too bad. His performance is Oscar worthy.
Arlene Soto he received golden globe, though.
Arlene Soto and he won a critic choice award too. I cried through that whole movie, and I never cry through a movie like I did on this one
I know me too.

Another great interview with Matt!! I've had the pleasure of meeting him twice, and he couldn't be more sweet.. such a genuine, nice guy.
I am so glad he got the role of Felix in The Normal Heart, that shows his depth in acting rather than his extreme good looks...
