Great video guys! I strongly agree with all the points you made. Bending over the people that got you, there is a great business move (until they go away and don’t come back), forcing people to buy a bunch of junk to get what they want is a sleazy move, but just remember nobody is forcing any of us to buy anything, what they are doing is an insulting slap in the face. Funko had the right idea when you could get a free exclusive when you spent over a certain threshold on the site, at least that way you were getting what you wanted, just because you think something is junk. (if it’s not selling, LMAO) doesn’t mean somebody else doesn’t want it in their collection. I don’t care what they ever put in them, I will never buy any of these embarrassingly lackluster boxes (I can take a shit in a box and market guaranteed if you want me to, I’ve got Sparetime), if I ever want any of these bend over pops, I will get them from eBay and they will not be expensive because they are making a ton of them every time, it would be a lot different if they were putting in an exclusive pop, that was a limited number, along with the rest of the junk like a 5, 10, or even 20K mystery box run with a featured pop that everybody is guaranteed to get. Full disclosure, I don’t get mystery boxes (but I do love watching other people risking their own money, LMAO), I’ve only bought 3 of them over my illustrious collecting career, I would rather just go after exactly what I want in my collection, but we all know how it is as long as you’re having fun collecting your collecting the right way. I would never tell anybody you’re wasting your money buying mystery boxes because in the long run, it’s cheaper to just go after what you want instead of taking a chance because I know lots of people have a great time opening them, oops I guess I just kind of did say that, but it was all hypothetical, LMAO. Feel free to re-post this rant on your Instagram, lots of people in the community look up to me, and it will save them money after they know, I will never buy these boxes, LMAO, LMAO. I think you guys hit the nail on the head with the Funko boxes. At least they're kinda transparent about it. My bigger issue with mystery boxes lately is the trend of Mystery box companies advertising the odds on their boxes. If there are 50 boxes and there are 5 top hits, they are saying that the odds are 1 in 10. That's not how math works. If I had the money to buy 40 boxes and I had the most horrible luck possible, I could conceivably get none of the top hits. Not 3 or 4
For sure! But there can’t be an infinite amount of shared exclusives for a con, you would think they’d be less made than let’s say a common or regular funko Shop Exclusive
I bought 2 Freddy 25th Anniversary "Mystery" boxes in the same order, and both damn boxes contained the same pops. I was so pissed. Mystery boxes are kinda fun but getting duplicates is whack.
This isn't even limited to Funko. That mystery grails place tosses in some incredible heat but chances are you'll pull a $10 piece of crap. And Whatnot mystery box shows, at best you have a 10% chance of coming close to breaking even. But people buy them.
I ordered the Venom mystery box from Funko Europe. After watching the North Americans open theirs I had hopes for getting a couple Pops I would be happy with. We got a total of four Pops in our box. It was advertised as a Venon/Marvel mystery box. I got two Marvel and two DC Pops. and I am not a fan of DC. Like at all. Now watching other Europeans open theirs, their getting the lights and sounds Optimus Prime. Like I couldn't even get a cool non Marvel Pop. It was the first and last mystery box I order.
Absolutely! We mention that in the video, you are definitely getting value there’s no question about that…I would rather just buy the 25th Freddy on its own

I just did a video on the biggie boxes and they weren’t bad. After figuring reduced prices eBay fees and shipping you are still in profit. That’s even with the massive crash biggie just had. Much better than venom box roi.
