I saw this in my garden today and knew it wasn't consensual! I plant milkweed to attract the butterflies and have had them around for years. This year I finally saw a caterpillar and now mating!

Extremely interesting. My wife and I have been assisting in breeding Monarch butterflies down here in Argentina, we have planted many milkweeds (asclepias curassavica and oxypetalum solanoides). We have an enclosure where we keep the caterpillars protected from predators (wasps mostly) to allow them to pupate. And in one occation we delayed in setting them free after they hatched, and there were two males and one female. And as soon as we set them free, the female went straight to the milkweed to lay eggs. So we assume they mated inside the butterfly cage. But we did not have the change to witness it. Now I can somehow imagine how it went inside there. Thanks for sharing!
I was walking through Central Park today and saw two butterflies flying together so I followed them. They landed on a tree branch so I got a picture. I came here to see if they were doing what I thought they were doing. They were.

I just saw two monarchs getting it on so I looked up this video. I left them alone and they were still doing it 20 minutes later. It was not on the ground though they did it on a flower and then moved to a tree
Had it not been for the internet I would have never seen any footage like this. Unless I would be watching National Geographics or something like that. God is so amazing and how He made nature.

I was curious before and wanted to know how cats mate, so I Googled it, and then in the vid, there was a small kitty cat(very obvious that she just hit puberty) and hasn't evn fully grown, and then there were four male big cats(like 3× her size) surrounding her, and evn tho the small cat tried to run away, they chased her down and gangrpd her, it was so painful to watch, if it was me, i wouldn't evn film it, I would take the cat away with me and run. And it was basically like 4 grown adults forcing themselves on a 12 or 13 yr old( in most human females, they already have their period by this time, which means they CAN technically get pregnant, but that doesn't mean u should impregnate them rght away, their body is not fully formed yet, and their genitals are also small and not ready to recieve a full grown adults genitalia.
