    One of the most underrated films ever. I love it so much! Its topic is the relationship between siblings before Elsa and Anna even existed as the big famous Disney siblings. And then there's the music by Phil Collins and those breathtaking landscape drawings ... perfection in one movie!!

      @@scoutartglee123so? Lilo and Nani had a much better story about sisterly love than Frozen imo. Nani literally spent the whole movie having to parent a bratty sibling but loved her unconditionally to the point she let her keep an alien for a pet. I’m sorry but Anna and Elsa’s relationship felt pretty rushed and not very believable as far as distant relationships go. I understand Elsa was taught to basically hate herself from a very young age, but that doesn’t change she had several chances to just tell Anna the truth about what happened when they were kids and why their parents made the terrible decision of separating them. Even Dreamworks’ Prince of Egypt and Joseph: King of Dreams had much more complex stories regarding sibling relationships and

  • @GuukanKitsune
    @GuukanKitsune 3 ปีที่แล้ว +135

    The song that is sung by the Spirits when they turn Kenai into a bear is in Inupiaq, an Inuit language. When you know what they're singing, it puts the story into a fresh light.
    "Come with me, I'll take you now
    To a place that you fear
    For no reason why
    Your heart has turned away from me
    But I will make you understand
    Everything will become clear to you
    When you see things through
    Another's eyes.
    Everything will become clear to you
    Whatever is meant for you
    You will find
    Come with me, I'll take you there
    To a place where you'll see
    Everything you need
    To be the one you need to be
    And all of those things
    That you fear
    Will disappear
    From you
    In time
    Everything will become clear to you
    When you see things through
    Another's eyes
    Everything will be one clear to you
    Whatever's meant for you
    You will find."
    It becomes clear... at Sitka's request, the Spirits are guiding Kenai into learning how to follow his totem, because he had lost himself so badly in his rage and grief.
    It was no coincidence the spirits departed just before Denahi arrived and saw... Kenai needed to know what his vengeful hunt had been like through the bear's eyes so he could truly understand how badly he had lost his way. They were never angry, only sad for him.

      That is so beautiful. I don't have a set religion but I practice more Native American styled beliefs, and I believe that there is something greater out there. I was saying Great Spirits before I even knew that's what most tribes called them. Either The Great Spirit (singular) or Great Spirits (plural). I have always had a connection to nature and the earth. I truly believe humans are not above animals. We all share this world together. And just because animals don't feel emotions like we do doesn't make their lives and experiences any less valid than our own. Who says that the way we feel things is "the correct" or "only way" to feel emotions. A lot of animals are a lot more intelligent than most people think. More and more studies are coming out about all these different animals and it's showing that they have feelings of their own and are smart. I also love this movie because it shows Native American culture in a beautiful light. Not many shows or movies show accurate depictions of our culture. And I don't follow a set religion but I am leaning into Native American beliefs and have been practicing for awhile and this movie is the closest thing I have seen that shows my beliefs back to me. My favorite scene is when Kenai kills the bear and then the Great Spirits come down and when the water opens up you see all the spirits and the essence of nature following towards you. It's one of the only times I have seen my beliefs reflected back at me. So beautiful.
      Edit: I am Cherokee on my father's side. You can't tell whatsoever because I am pale and have auburn red hair, but my great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee and my Great Grandfather was half. My Grandpa was more than half and my dad is a little under 50%. So I don't have much but it still flows in my blood and I find it beautiful that even though it's very little it can still be traced back thousands of years.

      Talking about a specific scene, so spoilers, I guess:
      I can't watch the old lady abandon Tod without tears. I've tried to challenge myself to not shed a tear to that scene before, and failed.
      Edit: Just looked up the scene and tried the challenge again, and I don't think I lasted 10 seconds. XD

      @RYMAN1321 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Ben_Kimber That has to be one of the most heartbreaking moments in any Disney film.
      Between the animation of the owner crying and seeing how Todd did not understand why he was being abandoned is what does it 😭

    • @Ben_Kimber
      @Ben_Kimber 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RYMAN1321 The thing with a lot of these sad moments is that, even if I haven't watched the movie in years, if I hear the music from a scene, the scene itself plays in my head, and I have an emotional response as if I was watching that scene. There's this one Hans Zimmer concert that I watch replays of on TH-cam that is Hollywood in Vienna 2018 The World of Hans Zimmer. I used to listen to it a lot while I worked, as it helped my productivity. However, one of the things they play in that concert is the Lion King soundtrack, including the songs from Mufasa's death scene, and the "Remember who you are" scene, so I would be doing some math work, suddenly start tearing up, and realize that I'm listening to the music from the scene where Mufasa dies. Eventually, I figured out exactly how far into the video that music plays, and would skip ahead so I wouldn't have to hear that part of it. Music can be powerful.
