- Today I walk downtown #Cochabamba #Bolivia. This is a downtown #citytour of Bolivia's third largest metro area. I start near Queru Queru barrio and head south across the river to the city center and then north from Plaza Colon to El Prado main shopping street the entire length back to the river. This gives a really good feel for the middle of #cochabambabolivia

sadly the other half of the city doesnt look like this, not even locals explore it...there no yt vids walking southern districts due safety reasons also is damn ugly to show on camera.
When I get back I'll try to get down south. I only had so much time to acclimate and explore while there, so had to work from being on foot from my apartment. I'd like to hit some of the other cities in the metro as well.

I agree that the south part of the City doesn't look that nice. But I was in Cochabamba two weeks ago and I had the opportunity to visit both sides and I was I was surprised to see a lot of progress all over the City, including the South area of the City. I noticed a lot of improvement after 7 years.

I love what they've done with the traffic circles. All these beautiful little parks. It looks kind of tricky to get to some of them, though. They must have some way of dealing with that.
They've done an amazing job with them. However driving around them is a nightmare.
13:30 Lovely way to design a park. Make them islands in roundabouts and risk citizens lives trying to get to one. You're lucky you had your sneakers on and a driver who saw you.
They were planned to rest and give aesthetics. Not to run on them or your dogs. Besides he jaywalked.
What a great change, I feel also kind of sad! I am residing in USA now, but I wish to return someday😂 to my beautiful city, Cochabamba!

Let us not forget that most Bolivians living there, can’t afford to buy in any of those shops. Those shops and restaurants are 80% money laundering businesses for drug money. Hell, even the ones that can afford it are savvy enough to find other sources without spending the big bucks. Also Bolivia is a communist model, and most of the people with access to living wages are Government employees and the strain is on small businesses. However Bolivians are experts at keeping appearances. 99.9% of those buildings are drug money or corruption money being laundered. Sad news for the people trying to do the right thing. But yeah, bring the dollars and the world is your oyster, while in Bolivia.
"Most" yes, but most Americans can't afford to show in city shops either. That's normal. High end places are for higher end incomes in any country. As a Bolivian employer, there are tons of people who can shop in those shops. Remember that Bolivia, Cochabamba especially, is the silicon valley of South America and has an extremely large, well paid professional base. While "most" can't afford to shop at the top end places, the number of people who can is still significant. And as an employer who has employees building those buildings with their earnings, it seems unlikely that it's all that bad. Construction is affordable, housing is in demand and the VERY capitalistic model makes it make sense to invest your money. I've been an employer in Bolivia for many years and while it remains a poor country and yes it has lots of problems, I think things are far better than you perceive. The access to jobs and ability to earn well is there. Not like in the US, but the ability to earn well compared to the cost of living might be better. In the US the government controls most businesses, I don't think you'll find Bolivia as communist as the US even, but it's less worried about appearing so as only in the US is being communist a negative thing.
@@ScottAlanMillerVlogI totally agree with you. I live in California for over 40 years and I'm planning to move back to Bolivia, Cochabamba to be more specific. When it comes to the politics of the country, I hear horror stories about the leftist government projects from right wing thinking citizens. On the other hand, I had the opportunity to talk to well educated middle class Bolivians that may nor be supporters of the current government, but they give them credit for the highways, bridges, and projects to improve public transportation like MI Teleferico or the New train in Cochabamba. Frankly speaking, I know how Bolivia's Cities were 20 years ago, and today you see tremendous improvement everywhere and that's a fact. Great videos by the way.

I live in the area and I have nothing to do with drugs or money laundering 🙄🙄 so really 🙄🙄. I know many of the owners of those businesses, and they have nothing to do with money laundering or drugs either. I really don't know where so little knowledge comes from. Many of these businesses are even companies of several people, which have started as small businesses, and have put a lot of effort into opening different sucursals that have not even opened in the same year. Here is a community that we know among many families, and we know the history of each venture, so your information is so out of reality. It is a country and a city with great potential, because there are many things to do, and you do not need as large investments as neighboring countries such as Chile for example. Our bank credit system works, unlike Argentina, for example, where they cannot even access almost a housing loan.
Here you can live with much less money than you would in a good area of another country in South America. It is very safe, and here they are not killing you for stealing a cell phone like they do in neighboring countries. I don't understand what a bad experience you have had in the country, that you only comment on bad things and with little knowledge, but I hope that if you visit my city again you will have a better stay. Here we are very friendly, and in the Queru Queru area and north of the city many people speak English so we can always help you with any questions.
Bullshit, all downtown areas in any country of the world are more expensive. Communism does not exist here; businesses are doing fine.
looks like you don’t know much. Obviously those places are for middle or high income people. This happens in every country, not everyone can afford places like this. I live in Bolivia and know my reality. Not everyone is a drug lord or involved in those business. Bolivianas are very hard working people, not all work for the government infact people that do don’t take it with pride and mostly earn very little. Only high ranged jobs of the government pay good which are mostly Masistas (people in favor with the government that are mostly indegenous that have no class) Those business that are shown aren’t money laundering (some sketchy ones are), and they are filled with people on weekends.
