Best song of them ever. They all shine in this one Jisso's penetrating falseto and Lisa's sad power were apocalyptic, Jenny and Rose lend their power to take it off the ground. Amazing song.
For better grasping the sentimental situation, I suggest imagining a couple that just broke up but still have to appear in an important event still as a couple. This gives you a better understanting of the internal conflicts.

This song is something I will expect to see at the next Grammy's... Jisoo's angel in pain first line is probably the most paused and repeated line in every reaction to this song, with a "What was that" look. Jenny showing off her internal pain with her creamy low notes and high ending verse. Lisa proving she is not just a rapper or dancer (AGAIN). Rose singing more in her natural range is a joy, but really expressing deep emotions. The whole song is BP showing how they "Bring the Pain Like"... and the pain and heartbreak keeps bringing us back to this song though...

Great review :). For me Jisoo when she sings that line of hers just hits you in the feels. And Lisa's voice wow, you can feel the pain and hurt and emotion as she sings. I am of two minds of what this song is about. On the surface it appears to be about a broken relationship and the hurt that has caused. But when you take it in context of some of the other songs on this album. Also, the fact it involves all the members not just one. I am not so sure. I wonder if in fact it is about all the hate and nastiness that is directed at not just one but all the Blackpink members at some point or another. When they are talking about not showing it... it is in fact about them even though been hurt as individuals they just have to grin and bear it even though inside they are hurt and crying. Even if not aimed at them. They see other members being hurt it hurts them to (Blackpink members are extremely close to each other, you hurt one you hurt them all)...

For me, the chorus (with "Tonight I'll be the happiest girl...") is not about the optimism, but about pretending.
