Electromagnetic waves are the combination of electric and magnetic fields vibrating in the direction perpendicular to the direction of propogation of waves. Since the vibration and propogation are perpendicular to each other, therefore, electromagnetic waves are transverse in nature.
Light waves are just electromagnetic radiation of certain frequencies in the visible range. Hence, light waves are elctromagnetic waves. And as electromagnetic waves are transverse in nature as stated above, light waves are transverse in nature as well.

Sir as we know that transverse mechanical wave is only possible in solid but when we throw the stone in the water surface its particle vibrate perpendicular to the propagation of wave of water and in this case it is observed that it can be possible in liquid also as the surface of water is not solid??How is this possible..can you please explain this I'm still in confusion 😢or there might be the concept of surface tension which acts as a stretched membrane just like solid

I have a confusion that transverse waves are mechanical waves and require medium and also light waves which are E.M waves which do not require medium are termed as transverse waves. One logical explanation of which I think and found on internet is that the light waves fulfill the conditions of Transverse waves means they have electric and magnetic fields which are mutually perpendicular. Is it right to say that these both fields act as medium for propagation of light waves. Please explain and reply. Thnx
