Something I failed to point out is that the "tray style standard" rotator has a 795 bulb instead of the notoriously hard to remove Whelen SN series that it would normally use. This was one more attempt to make the bar (and the beacon) more user friendly near the end of the production run.
@@doranbaltus Agreed. Whelen always had some sort of goofy bulb with their halogen line. These late "mini tray" stryle rotators were the only exception. Weldon tried to capitalize on this issue with their 9x7 and 7x3 halogen lightheads that took h1 or 795 bulbs. But that was another example of "too close to LEDs" to be a breakthrough.
I does when it is in a rotabeam beacon which is what it was designed for. I agree, in the advantedge it is not great and is limited by the height of the bar. It really wasn't the best solution to the "pick one rotator and stick with it" Austin plan.
Really liking these informative videos! Love learning about the history of these products in your collection.

I've always hated that Whelen always seems to be so insistent on using their own bulbs. There's no user advantage.

Great video very informative
This is interesting, as just today I received a strobe mini Advantedge that turned out to have an Austin label on the bottom!
I always felt the lighthouse style reflector really didn’t throw much light..
