Okay I'm gonna do a quick break down of the whole cow/beef thing. Hold on to your hat though because it's a little confusing 🙃😉 Calves - babys boys & girls Steers - Fixed male animals Heifers - Females that have not had a calf Cows - females that have had a calf Bulls - fully intact males of any size We run a cow/calf operation and I fully endorse using beef for animals you plan to eat! I really enjoy your videos. It makes me super happy when people buy the whole beef it's great for local farmers! 😊
Aww your such amazing loving family , love your vlogs , children so sweet and funny , I love to see you and your husband teasing each other and laughing , your amazing 👍👏🥰
My parents have gifted us with meat for the last 3 Christmases, and it has been such a blessing. We received about 25 pounds this year, and it has been a huge blessing.
These kinds of things are the best gift! I live alone, but asked for chicken breast and toilet paper from my parents for Christmas, probably the most useful gift I've gotten in years!
Holy moly, you have enough there to feed an army 😲😲. I thought I was doing well buying 2 packages of pasta, rice, potato’s,fruit, veg and toiletries when they are on offer. When living in the Scottish highlands as a child, my mum had a winter cupboard where she put extra tins, packets, flour, butter, cheese etc and a camping stove as we got snowed in every winter and often couldn’t get to shops for up to a week. It pays to be prepared. Love to all from Scotland xx
Oookkkkkkk mama, I see you!! You are SOOOO efficient and with 11 kiddos you MOST DEFINITELY got it going on!!! I pray God continues to bless you and your family BEYOND MEASURE and just know, you inspire me (and I’m SURE, other moms..) immensely!! I see you.. 🙏🏼💖😩🥰
My daughter bought me a big slab of bacon for Mother's Day one time. The lady at the meat market made fun of her but I greatly sppreciated it. Best bacon ever.
My uncle does beef as a hobby and always blesses my mom's side of the family with beef and it trickles down to us. It tastes so good and since having kids, I appreciate it SO much more!
Are you guys going to have a shed put up at your new property for complete food storage... Deep freezers, shelves for canning, space for your buckets, etc. I think that would be awesome - like a walk-in closet for food.... Maybe with a rolling wagon in the middle where you could pull what's needed to take inside... I think that would be so cool.
In her previous video about her pantry she said they were going to build a root cellar. Usually a root cellar is underground like in a basement, so I'm not sure rolling cart would work in that case unless they have a ramp going down into the root cellar.
Sarah you should invest in a Vacuum Sealer for your food that goes in the freezer. It helps so it does not get frostbite on their meats and vegetables and whatever you put in the freezer. I have one and I love it.
My dad raised cows and every year he named 4 of the new calves after the 4 children. He took them to the auction and sold them and each child got a check for the amount their cow sold for. So I really got a cow for Christmas!!
We knew a family, the grandfather raised cows. When each grandchild was born, they were “gifted” a cow. Gave them a way to make money, as they got older.
My grandmother always used the ice cream buckets for harvest, especially berries. They are a good size and the handles make it easy to hook over the arm for hands free picking.
We use to be gifted a whole pig and 1/4 of a beef cow from my in-laws. But they stopped a few years ago and just gave cash in place. (Other siblings did not want the meat.) It was a GREAT gift. But we use our $ for 1/2 a beef cow now.
Justin Rhodes family just did a bunch of lard. They explain what they did & ALL of the health benefits of lard. I had no idea how good it is for us! Glad I have been using it now.
I used to have a beef and pork freezer , another for chicken and fish then a small one for vegetables and fruit … sadly the one that was full of beef burnt out and we lost many hundreds if not thousands of dollars of meat ……insurance covered a little bit but not all . Now I have it all spread out across all the freezers …top shelf is vegetables and fruit , next shelf is chicken and fish , next is beef and the very bottom is prepared meals , butter etc …once I got used to it I loved it this way ….and if a freezer ever dies again we don’t risk losing all of the most expensive meat in one go and I only have one freezer to open when I need frozen food…I’m saving a little bit of money every week for a large chest freezer for the garage , I figure by the time I need a new one I should have enough in the freezer kitty .
This no spend January challenge has been so good for me, and I want to thank you for mentioning it. I was feeling discouraged this week when we ran out of a few "essentials". It was good to see what you keep extra stock of and for me to realize the things I should stock up on. We never know when something will prevent us from conveniently running to the store and getting what we need, right? Also has been a good check for me to not impulse buy and to not look for my joy and peace in purchasing new things; rather to seek that from the Lord! Thank you Sarah for being real and encouraging!
You can donate that breastmilk! What a gift that is to a mom with low supply or an adoptive mama or foster mama. Facebook has groups that you can share locally. Just thought I’d share since I have experience with that.
I love watching your channel! I like you being you. Don't worry about what others think about you. Love seeing mount olive pickles! Thank you for supporting my county
Awesome to see how well prepared and organized you are. Over the last 2 years I have been pressure canning, freeze drying, and am so glad I am at the point I don't have to shop for months, and take advantage of items when they're on sale. I pay close attention to not wasting food . And I am learning what and how much we use. My grocery bill has been cut in half. I will be making the soup soon looks delicious.
I never comment but I just wanted to say thank you SO much for promoting buying beef from your local farmer. We raise beef and it truly is a family you are supporting when you buy local❤️❤️.
I am amazed at how us as creators have to constantly put exclaimers out there if someone doesn’t like our channel to Unfollow! I do the same thing, and I just showed my prepper stash as well, and I had to preface that I don’t care whether people like what we eat or don’t eat they can’t judge how we live our lifestyle and that yes my kids are cooking 80% of the meals now because they were age to cook and they need to learn how to cook and that yes I do supervise but yes, my kids are doing the cooking and it’s not me being lazy. It’s me teaching them since I’m usually in the kitchen with them when they are cooking! Love your stock pile you’re doing amazing one of these days I’m gonna have to start doing as your standard, But I wish they would have a delivery service because I don’t have the means to go and pick it up somewhere at a specific time!
We should be getting our half beef next week. Our last couple halves have been pretty small but we are only 5 people. I cant imagine bumping up to a whole beef.
Around here ( northeastern PennsyIvania) we say cow ( girl that has had a baby), for the ones that give milk & beefers ( usually boys) are the ones that are in the fields that we get the meat from.
I love you Sarah I have to admit there people I don’t care for but still watch. It is that they are arrogant and think they know everything. You are so real. You do so much. I love your storage. I have a small closet and it’s not enough.
I’ve started buying the Costco bagels, slicing them and then freezing them 4 to a freezer bag. It’s just the 2 of us so we can pull a single bagel out and toast it no problem.
Great tour!!! A hive or two on your property could be an idea. We live urban/in town now and still have two in our backyard. They look after them selves pretty much, harvest honey once a year, for us that's around the end of Feb. A check for disease like varroa and AFB are done during that time too so that jobs out of the way. We leave water out in a bucket in the hotter months and leave a few honey frames in as opposed to feeding sugar, both are fine. You will have loads of honey! Thank you for another cool video!
Great job. My mom and dad with depression and they always kept a lot of food and practical items in our home is a matter fact we had a whole bedroom it was just dedicated to start up things and we used it regularly and I do some of that too but I don’t have a whole room but I do set-aside space and watching your show encouraged me again to think about it and so now if I buy one catch up I pick up a couple extra or if I buy one dishwashing detergent I pick up two more and you know it’s been just fantastic to have that storage to go use when you run out of something
Steer are male cattle that are without their male round bits! They have been neutered. Heifers are female cattle that have not had calves. Cows have had calves. Bulls have all their bits and make the calves with the cows. Hope that helps you a little to keep it straight. It took me a while to learn it all.
I'm glad I'm not the only one with the random water chestnuts. 😄 We remodeled our kitchen a few months ago and it was because of you that I had the new cabinets extended all the way to the ceiling so that I could use the upper shelves for more long term food storage.
Do you follow a block schedule? I would imagine that planning a routine would be hard for you because with school and cooking most of your meals, that can’t leave time for much else! That’s on top of taking care of the kids needs throw out the day. I need to stock our back up pantry and freezer 😊
Sarah, I really enjoy your channel. You are an amazing person, wife, teacher, mother and mentor to us. I thank you. Homestead Tessie has a great recipe for soap. I have learned a lot from her. She is a very good gardener. I love lamb. My receipt is to smother with mustard, fry some garlic, onion, green pepper. Add bread crumbs to the fried garlic, onion, green bell peppers with some melted butter. Coat the lamb with that mixture. Bake 350 for 50 minutes. Yummy
I prefer my fresh fish being I live on the shore but I do keep cans of sardines and tuna in my locker I like to bring them to work when I don't have anything to think about for dinner for work
You have a lot of freezer room. I'm just one person, and I have a full size freezer. I like buying on really good sales, but stocking up. After watching today I think I will take inventory of my own food. Maybe I can try a no spend month.

Haha oh my goodness, I had to pause a comment here and say, yes yes!! I soo feel you on that. And you've been at it way longer so at least I know it's not just me. I'm always afraid if someone zooms in a sees a crum on the floor the comments will fly but I'm getting to were I'm like ohh well!! Just so you know your videos are real people doing real life and that's why I love them! You're such a blessing!
Sure wish I had space like that to store food but with 2 deep freezers and the bottom freezer of my fridge we can store a lot. Our central unit went down a couple of yrs ago so I got a small rack system and put in the furnace closet for extra food storage. We have a huge metal shelf across from our stove that holds a lot of stuff too. I'm planning to start buying in bulk again. That way we won't run out of things as often.
Sarah, ask your older girls to try using about half the conditioner they typically do and work it through as well as possible. When they're ready to reach for more, try adding water instead. This should help them work the conditioner throughout the rest of their hair. Once I started doing this I couldn't believe how much less I was using.
I have only one child, 9 years old with high functioning autism but, your videos really inspire me to be better organizing and to keep stock in my third bedroom (used only for storage) I started buying many shelf stable items in bulk each month at Sam’s and storing them in the back room, as well finally got enough money to buy a 5 cubic feet freezer for $169 at Walmart a week ago. That has helped take all the stress off my small freezer/fridge combo.
Hi Sarah I'm glad that your real!! Do what you feel comfortable in showing us!! Lyatt Sandee from Ohio. 💜💜🙏🤘😊

Lol. She is feeding an army.
Freya you are doing fine and what you can and need.

My daughter and son -in-law gift us half a beef for Christmas every year. There is just the 2 of us, and it is a blessing.
My daughter bought me a big slab of bacon for Mother's Day one time. The lady at the meat market made fun of her but I greatly sppreciated it. Best bacon ever.
Bless you Sarah...who could possibly dislike you? You are lovely!
exactly
Amen!
Someone disliked Sarah? For what possible reason? That's their problem.
I agree
My uncle does beef as a hobby and always blesses my mom's side of the family with beef and it trickles down to us. It tastes so good and since having kids, I appreciate it SO much more!
Don't change a thing Sarah I love watching you and your family. God's grace and blessings

Not sure how secure a separate building would be
Sounds like a cool idea!! 👌🏼👏🏼

I second that motion!!! I found some ground chuck from 3 years ago. Let it thaw. Cooked it, still tasted great@
I do also & love it.
We use ours all the time. Especially to down size meat from box stores. We have our kids doing it too!
Yes, great idea! We have one as well!
Yessssss, I think I have purchased 5 or 6 my lifetime. I love those things.
Love when you do pantry/freezer tours gives great ideas.
Appreciate your honesty. ❤
My dad raised cows and every year he named 4 of the new calves after the 4 children. He took them to the auction and sold them and each child got a check for the amount their cow sold for. So I really got a cow for Christmas!!

I’m so jealous that your transit fits in your garage 😮
My grandmother always used the ice cream buckets for harvest, especially berries. They are a good size and the handles make it easy to hook over the arm for hands free picking.
Who knew that the contents of someone else's fridge/freezers could be so fascinating?! I've been transfixed! Xx
Love your channel, so real life with kids.

This is Jane I am 73. We were foster parents 1984 2017 we adopted 9 kids. I gave birth to 3. I love watching you kids
Justin Rhodes family just did a bunch of lard. They explain what they did & ALL of the health benefits of lard. I had no idea how good it is for us! Glad I have been using it now.
Yes I have a sealer I use almost everyday would be a big help for when you freeze it.
1st time mom here and you encourage me soooooooo much! ❤❤❤
Congratulations!

My in laws gifted all of us a whole hog butchered and smoked one year for Christmas. It was WONDERFUL! There were 5 of us that got a hog!
I love your face and your loving attitude towards everything: food, family, farm, house, pantry, cooking and so much more
*faith!
I think you’re mom is so beautiful!! Treasure her always.
Snowing since around noon here in Fairbury. I'm counting down to Spring. Lol.
We raised beef cattle when I was growing up. Dad always brought the neighbours a roast or hamburger meat when it was ready.
You are so organized. Even if you think your not lol. But you showing us these things is giving us ideas!!!
Sarah I just love you and your family so very much. Thank you for being authentic 💛 💓 💕
Awesome to see how well prepared and organized you are.

I will be making the soup soon looks delicious.
Some of the veggies can be dehydrated to get more freezer space. That’s a big box of mixed veggies.
Truly blessed Sarah 🙏🏼
You know why I watch you????? You ACT LIKE A REAL PERSON. Thank you. I will continue to watch.
You and your family are very special ❤️ 💕
My parents give each of their moved-out children 50 pounds of beef each time they butcher their steers! It’s delicious and yes, a blessing!
Good stocking up just my Husband and I but istock up i can i like that feeling that you have it!
love you all especially when your mom is on. She is so precious !!

I have not had a lot of time to watch TH-cam lately, but you are refreshing to watch Sarah. Always real!
Around here ( northeastern PennsyIvania) we say cow ( girl that has had a baby), for the ones that give milk & beefers ( usually boys) are the ones that are in the fields that we get the meat from.
Today is meal prep day here, love the inspiration from you and the family.
Maybe try getting modibodi or other brand period undies to reduce the use of disposable products
Love to watch your show .. so sweet
and real . Beautiful family. Totally enjoy watching you guys .❤
.....Its a great blessing to have loads of food in the house! Its a home grocery store...
I love you Sarah I have to admit there people I don’t care for but still watch. It is that they are arrogant and think they know everything.
You are so real. You do so much. I love your storage. I have a small closet and it’s not enough.
If we have alot of roasts I slow cook and shred tacos sandwiches etc
I’ve started buying the Costco bagels, slicing them and then freezing them 4 to a freezer bag. It’s just the 2 of us so we can pull a single bagel out and toast it no problem.
Even a quarter or a half a Beef. ❤️
Great tour!!!

Soak your beans and they will sprout. Plant them and they will be ready for your spring garden.
If I had cans in those upper cabinets I would surely bust my head with them trying to get them out lol
I think your down to earth, you never look down at people. Your family is very nice 👌
Great job Sarah, you amaze me how organized you are and how wonderful you cook and store food.
Whew! Moving you guys would be hard work!
awesome
Nuts u can freeze up to 12 months . To help stay fresh longer.
You are fabulous! Great inspiration ❤
I keep hinting to my Dad that I’d take some butchered beef. When I chose my deep freezer for its size/features.
You can keep nuts in the freezer for longer storage.
Thank u Sara for showing us yr pantries and storage areas.Love seeing yr family they r all so cute.God bless y'all.
You are the sweetest girl every beside my daughter!!!! Lol I love how you keep the freezers pretty much in control!!!! 🥰
You and the family have a wonderful Sunday 🌷🌷🍀🍀
Steer are male cattle that are without their male round bits! They have been neutered. Heifers are female cattle that have not had calves. Cows have had calves. Bulls have all their bits and make the calves with the cows. Hope that helps you a little to keep it straight. It took me a while to learn it all.
I made cheeseburger soup tonight. I need your recipe.
Love your family ❤️
Sarah, I really enjoy your channel. You are an amazing person, wife, teacher, mother and mentor to us. I thank you. Homestead Tessie has a great recipe for soap. I have learned a lot from her. She is a very good gardener. I love lamb. My receipt is to smother with mustard, fry some garlic, onion, green pepper. Add bread crumbs to the fried garlic, onion, green bell peppers with some melted butter. Coat the lamb with that mixture. Bake 350 for 50 minutes. Yummy
I love watching you and your family! You all are so loving and authentic with one another. It’s refreshing to see!
I store my nuts in the freezer and they last much longer. :)
New viewer and I think you are very real! Really enjoy your channel❤
We call it a side of beef.😍
I prefer my fresh fish being I live on the shore but I do keep cans of sardines and tuna in my locker I like to bring them to work when I don't have anything to think about for dinner for work
always a joy , thanx for always sharing
Love your organization! You've inspired me to rearrange my pantries.
You have a lot of freezer room. I'm just one person, and I have a full size freezer. I like buying on really good sales, but stocking up. After watching today I think I will take inventory of my own food. Maybe I can try a no spend month.
Love watching your videos and papa's kitchen
We’ve be snowbound all week!
It’s just my husband and I and our 16 indoor rescue kitties(I’m so thankful for Chewy)!!!
Hubby recently got dentures and he’s having trouble with them…Prayers Please?
I love you and your family so!
May The Lord Bless you and Keep you🙏🏻🕊✝️🌸♥️
Maybe move the frozen mattress from the farmhouse to this house and Defrost the freezer them move them back before the "beef" comes.
I appreciate your “realness”!! That is a large part of why I enjoy your channel
Getting it together, yay Sarah👌🏾👍🏾
LOL, I love that you're real. No illusions that you're imperfect. ...but perfectly imperfect.
Starz youz arez .. everyday always :) xoxoxo
Love your channel and how real you are
Sure wish I had space like that to store food but with 2 deep freezers and the bottom freezer of my fridge we can store a lot.
Side of beef, half a cow, a whole cow - all are correct.
Love you and your family good job 👍🏻
