I sincerely would be thrilled if she could sing like in the record, I truly like created in the image of suffering record, and her voice is fab on record, just not digging the live presentation of it - music is as solid though
Milklatte I dont get why she presents the vocals like this... Its so good in the record, but this actually sounds horrible at times. Such a shame. It doesnt bring any new layers or anything to the music. Not sure I even want to see them live (which I am in a couple of weeks). It could destroy the whole experience...
I understand you and I considered as well like 'well it's her artistic expression' but if she's proven how great it sounds if she actually sings, then I don't know what her attempt is with it. I know she'll be opening to Chelsea Wolfe and I have even pondered how to let her know that it could work so much better if she just sang like in the record, but I would be in a very similar position you are at in terms of seeing them live. Maybe at some point she might realize it...
I saw them live just last weekend and she sounded pretty much exactly like she does on the record at that show. Guess she was just feeling like mixing it up this night
The "new song" is one my favorite performances live. Overall I thoroughly enjoy KW. On the flipside of the vocal discussion. I was fortunate enough to learn of their gig the night of the same day I discovered them. the EP was only out so I got to see more material live and I fell in love. THen came the album and I was a little disappointed that the album vocals were so clean cut. By now, both studio and live versions sit well with me.
Such unpleasant comments are seldom read. It is no coincidence that they are about a band led by a woman. It's a shame and talks more about the fuckers who comment than the band itself. I bet everything that his interpretation is as thoughtful as it is felt. It sounds desperate, broken, distressing, and that is accomplished very well. It is not an easy task a vocal performance like this.
