The complexity of the newer civs really shows up the basic civs from early on like Brits. Would like to see some details added to the old school civs too
I dont like this too much, a bit is good with like Inca/sweden, but more and it becomes a headache when you'd like to try other civs, example : USA. Having to know about All the new and old civs already adds a big layer of complexity. Its like with many new games or xpacs, you feel like doing math or reading an essay. Its a lot more work to keep it simple and fun.
Oromo Warriors aren't countered by Skirmishers, they have the same exact tags as Hakkapelits who are also not countered by Skirmishers (Skirms deal bonus damage against "Light Ranged Cavalry" not all "Ranged Cavalry"). Rifle Riders are classified as "Light Ranged Cavalry" so they get countered by Skirmishers. All of these units have the "Heavy Cavalry" tag too though, which is what flags them for being countered by Dragoons.
Yes, correct. Easy mistake to make to think they would be like rifle riders especially with the ranged cavalry tag. Hopefully this makes them quite a good unit, obviously not as strong as a cuirassier but they do have ranged and melee attacks.
So what the hell counters standard ranged cav? I’m so sick and tired of this games balance. Being an ottoman main against range cav spammers is so agonizing. Someone tell me what units counter range cavalry.
@@thenamelessguy7357 Well this unit which is heavy cav like hakkapelit would be countered by dragoons or musk/pike in melee. dragoons are countered by skirmishers, so if your playing otto vs a normal dragoon you need abus guns and vs heavy cav janissary in melee or your cav archers.
@@ashwrightfinance8610 abus guns aren’t viable. They cost 100 gold each, are too slow to even reach the range cav, and take 2 population each. It’s literally impossible as an otto main to counter ranged cav spammers. It ruins the game for me. So when I see yet another civ with gattling gun camels, I can’t help but sigh in disappointment

The training of weak infantry from houses was an idea I had two years ago but for Kingdom of the Congo civ for DE2. Good to see something similar here for DE3.
I've been doing well with Ethiopians without building a single warcamp and just using the tower units. They have a card which reduces the population to 1 for the infantry and 2 for the desert raiders so that's not an issue and another card that makes them cheaper.
drongo talks with the balancing team in order to train the Ottoman nazi marines, it's such a cool unit and so restricted, if you could also talk to them to put a wood sustainer in indigenous civilizations I even have a topic on the forum about it

Drongo you made a mistake. Oromo isn't light ranged cavalry so it does NOT get the bonus damage from archers and skirmishers....it's not a rifle rider more like a hakapelit with double the range.

These DE devs are really playing it fast and loose with the unit/damage/resist types. It's getting incredibly hard to tell what role a unit has just by looking at it now.

I've been doing well with Ethiopians without building a single warcamp and just using the tower units. They have a card which reduces the population to 1 for the infantry and 2 for the desert raiders so that's not an issue and another card that makes them cheaper.
These civs might be really OP
My guess is they altered the desert archer to be a longbow yumi hybrid so they handle musks better.
