    Bangsit - smelly/stinky (ilocano)
    Salamat - thank you (tagalog)
    Mahal kita - I love you (tagalog)

    Just to clear things up, 3:36. That's a mix of Chinese and Cantonese. 'You' is a pinyin(拼音) like Romaji, but when it comes to the word itself it's different. There are four different yin (音)for 'you' or every Romaji for that matter, though there are some unique ones.
    The four: you(with a - on top of the 'o'), yóu, you ( with a 'v' on top of the 'o') and yòu.
    The word or character itself is like Kanji in Japanese, it has different meanings like you can be 有 (has have or had), 又(again) ,游(swim),右 (right) and 油(oil). I think since sykkuno didn't learn any Chinese or Cantonese he confused himself with the pinyin( sound).
    Chinese is a very hard language but once you get a hang of it its very fun to learn :)
    Hope people see this lmao

    • @Shirley36
      @Shirley36 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      I don't think Sykkuno's ever learned to spell in pinyin, I think he's only learning and remembering based on what he's heard from his family growing up. He's probably heard them say "yau" in all those different tones and contexts. Cantonese is one of those dialects you can't teach in written form, you basically have to pick it up exclusively over listening and has at least 6 tones. Even as a Mandarin speaker in a country where Cantonese is one of the most widely spoken languages, it still escapes me.

    • @de1isa
      @de1isa 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I'm part Cantonese but I can only understand a bit. I'm just guessing for the most of the time because it's quite similar to Mandarin, which is the language I mainly speak. When I try to speak it'll sound weird XD
      Most elderly Chinese people here in my country can speak Chinese dialects such as Hokkien, Hakka, Hainanese very well too, they are very multilingual, which is very respectable for.

      @@AmIWhatIAm Yep, dialects are really hard to learn because it's based mostly on sound, and there is no pinyin to assist. I know a good amount Fuzhounese(aka. Foochow, Hokchew, or Hok-chiu) and it's hard to get used to unless you listen to it a lot, which is how I know because my family speaks it a good amount.
      I am Chinese-American (full Chinese in blood, born in the US) with my first language being Mandarin, and learned English in daycare (age 5). I'm glad to be multilingual but it really is a struggle to learn new languages lmao. I learned a lot of Spanish but I still find it hard after you go into the complexities of language such as grammar structure, etc vs just straight vocabulary, which is easy. Very much respect for multilingual people, keep up xD

    Clarification: At 6:05 Michael is speaking Ilocano, a separate language, it's not Tagalog. Tagalog is another language but both of these are languages in the Philippines.
    Ilocano:
    Bangsit means "smelly" (smells bad)
    Bagtit means "crazy"
    Tagtagari "keep quite" (well it depends on the context, it means keep quite or you are noisy)
    Mahal Kita and Salamat, those are Tagalog/Filipino.

    a lower pitch means oil, doing a low pitch then a high pitch is i have. doing a medium pitch means also. there are a variety of meanings.

    Just to clear up any mix ups here, when jack said "5 is hot" he actually meant to say "today is too hot". It's supposed to be "오늘은 너무 더워" but because of Jack's limited pronunciations, he merged "오늘은" by accident to say "오는" which can translate to either "5 is" or "coming". Both Tina and Jack's pronunciations aren't perfect since they're not native Korean speakers so it's understandable to hear the wrong things. So here's a corrected translation:
    Jack: today is too hot
    Tine: right right right/yes yes yes
    Jack: really, really hot
    Tina: too hot, ok
    Tina: I understand
    Jack: too hot

    • @AlM22
      @AlM22 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, he actually meant to say 5 is hot.
      During the rust era, it was a running joke that everytime the friend group would go to gamble, they would always say "5 is hot". Meaning you should put all your money (scraps) on the number 5 to win big. He was just saying the same phrase they all say but in Korean rather than the usual English.
