Source: Bidāyat al-Mujtahid 4/248 Also if the woman is accustomed to financial and commercial transactions, her lone testimony will be considered enough just as Mu’awiyah passed a judgment concerning housing based on the sole testimony of Umm Salamah, without requiring any corroboration. [ Source- Ibn al-Qayyim, Al-Turuq al-Hukmiyyah (Makkah: Dar 'Alam al-Fawa'id, 2007), p. 415. ] Also the testimony of women being half in financial or commercial transactions has nothing to do with her intelli-gence but rather it was the fact that in most societies, women were not involved in the conventional economic sphere. Hence they were considered to be not so accustomed in such transactions and hence were more likely to make a fault and thats what the earliest scholars understood it to be Ibn al-Qayyim writes: وَالْمَرْأَةُ الْعَدْلُ كَالرَّجُلِ فِي الصِّدْقِ وَالْأَمَانَةِ وَالدِّيَانَة إلَّا أَنَّهَا لَمَّا خِيفَ عَلَيْهَا السَّهْوُ وَالنِّسْيَانُ قَوِيَتْ بِمِثْلِهَا وَذَلِكَ قَدْ يَجْعَلُهَا أَقْوَى مِنْ الرَّجُلِ الْوَاحِدِ أَوْ مِثْلَهُ وَلَا رَيْب أَنَّ الظَّنَّ الْمُسْتَفَادَ مِنْ شَهَادَةِ مِثْلِ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ وَأُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ أَقْوَى مِنْ الظَّنِّ الْمُسْتَفَادِ مِنْ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ دُونَهُمَا وَدُونَ أَمْثَالِهِمَا The woman is equal to the man in truthfulness, honesty, and piety; otherwise, if it is feared that she will forget or misremember, she is strengthened with another like herself. That makes them stronger than a single man or the likes of him. There is no question that the benefit of the doubt given to the testimony of Umm Darda and Umm ‘Atiyyah is stronger than the benefit of the doubt given to a single man without them or the likes of them. Source: al-Ṭuruq al-Ḥukmīyah 1/128 As far as women being the majority in h-ellfir-e, according to Islamic epistemology, in the future there will be more women than men even by the ratio of 40 women for every man Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: وَتَكْثُرَ النِّسَاءُ وَيَقِلَّ الرِّجَالُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ لِخَمْسِينَ امْرَأَةً الْقَيِّمُ الْوَاحِدُ There will be an abundance of women and scarcity of men such that fifty women will be maintained by a single man Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 81, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi In another narration, the Prophet (ṣ) said: وَيُرَى الرَّجُلُ الْوَاحِدُ يَتْبَعُهُ أَرْبَعُونَ امْرَأَةً يَلُذْنَ بِهِ مِنْ قِلَّةِ الرِّجَالِ وَكَثْرَةِ النِّسَاءِ A man will be seen followed by forty women seeking refuge with him due to the scarcity of men and abundance of women. Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 1348, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi And it is also said that majority of the human population will enter h- ell in the ratio of 99:1 where 99 will enter h-ell and 1 will enter paradise hadeeth was narrated by al-Bukhaari (6529) from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The first one to be called on the Day of Resurrection will be Adam. He will be shown his progeny and it will be said, ‘This is your father Adam.’ He will say, ‘Here I am at Your service.’ He will say: ‘Bring forth those who are to be sent to Hell from among your progeny.’ He will say, ‘O Lord, how many should I bring forth?’ He will say, ‘Bring forth from every hundred ninety nine.’” They said: “O Messenger of Allaah, if ninety nine are taken from every hundred of us, what will be left of us?” He said, “My ummah, among the other nations, is like a white hair on a black bull.” So accordingly, the Ulema and the classical scholars understood that women will be in majority in both paradise and in h-ell because of them being large in numbers in comparison to men Muhammad ibn Sirin reported: People were boasting to each other, whether men or women would be a majority in Paradise. This has been understood by some scholars to indicate that women are the majority of humankind. Al-Qadi ‘Iyad comments on this tradition, saying: ظَاهِرُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنَّ النِّسَاءَ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ الْآخَرِ أَنَّهُنَّ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ قَالَ فَيَخْرُجُ مِنْ مَجْمُوعِ هَذَا أَنَّ النِّسَاءَ أَكْثَرُ وَلَدِ آدَمَ This tradition demonstrates that women are the majority of the people of Paradise, and in another tradition that they are a majority of the people of Hellfire. What can be deduced from them together is that women are the majority of the children of Adam. Not only Hazrat Aisha and her parents and the society but even the most ardent critics of the Holy Prophet of His time who tried to criticise Him for all that they could think of with even trying to bring charges of adul-tery against Aisha but never once criticised Him for Aisha's age. Even the critics after the Prophet's lifetime from John of Damascus to Matthew of Paris to voltaire, none criticised Him for Aisha's age until recently in the 20th century. And thats because such marriages were common and probably thats why you will find the minimum age of marriage was 7 in the 1870s in the US state of Delaware, in 37 other US states, the age of consent was 10, in 10 other US states the age of consent was 12. Thats why only a century ago you will find great humanists and personalities like Rabindranath Tagore getting married at the age of 21-22 to 9 years old Mrinalini Devi with Mrinalini Devi getting pregn--ant with Rabindranath Tagore's first child Madhurilata when she was 12 years old. That's why you will find 27 years old famous writer Edgar Allen Poe marrying 13 years old Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe.

Maybe he referred to this hadit - Sahih al-Bukhari 304 Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri: Once Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out to the Musalla (to offer the prayer) of `Id-al-Adha or Al-Fitr prayer. Then he passed by the women and said, "O women! Give alms, as I have seen that the majority of the dwellers of Hell-fire were you (women)." They asked, "Why is it so, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."
It has been mistranslated. The word nuqsan used in the hadith doesn't mean deficiency. There two women are to be taken as witnesses as according to the Quran, ' so that if one of them (two women) errs, the other can remind her…” [al-Baqarah 2:282] and not because she is h-avi-ng half of the intelligence in comparison to a man. Source: Bidāyat al-Mujtahid 4/248 Also if the woman is accustomed to financial and commercial transactions, her lone testimony will be considered enough just as Mu’awiyah passed a judgment concerning housing based on the sole testimony of Umm Salamah, without requiring any corroboration. Hence they were considered to be not so accustomed in such transactions and hence were more likely to make a fault and thats what the earliest scholars understood it to be Ibn al-Qayyim writes: وَالْمَرْأَةُ الْعَدْلُ كَالرَّجُلِ فِي الصِّدْقِ وَالْأَمَانَةِ وَالدِّيَانَة إلَّا أَنَّهَا لَمَّا خِيفَ عَلَيْهَا السَّهْوُ وَالنِّسْيَانُ قَوِيَتْ بِمِثْلِهَا وَذَلِكَ قَدْ يَجْعَلُهَا أَقْوَى مِنْ الرَّجُلِ الْوَاحِدِ أَوْ مِثْلَهُ وَلَا رَيْب أَنَّ الظَّنَّ الْمُسْتَفَادَ مِنْ شَهَادَةِ مِثْلِ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ وَأُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ أَقْوَى مِنْ الظَّنِّ الْمُسْتَفَادِ مِنْ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ دُونَهُمَا وَدُونَ أَمْثَالِهِمَا The woman is equal to the man in truthfulness, honesty, and piety; otherwise, if it is feared that she will forget or misremember, she is strengthened with another like herself. That makes them stronger than a single man or the likes of him. There is no question that the benefit of the doubt given to the testimony of Umm Darda and Umm ‘Atiyyah is stronger than the benefit of the doubt given to a single man without them or the likes of them. This has been understood by some scholars to indicate that women are the majority of humankind. We never had a problem occur to us, the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and asked Aisha about it but that we found her knowledgeable of it.

Not only Hazrat Aisha and her parents and the society but even the most ardent critics of the Holy Prophet of His time who tried to criticise Him for all that they could think of with even trying to bring charges of adul-tery against Aisha but never once criticised Him for Aisha's age. Even the critics after the Prophet's lifetime from John of Damascus to Matthew of Paris to voltaire, none criticised Him for Aisha's age until recently in the 20th century. And thats because such marriages were common and probably thats why you will find the minimum age of marriage was 7 in the 1870s in the US state of Delaware, in 37 other US states, the age of consent was 10, in 10 other US states the age of consent was 12. Thats why only a century ago you will find great humanists and personalities like Rabindranath Tagore getting married at the age of 21-22 to 9 years old Mrinalini Devi with Mrinalini Devi getting pregn--ant with Rabindranath Tagore's first child Madhurilata when she was 12 years old. That's why you will find 27 years old famous writer Edgar Allen Poe marrying 13 years old Virginia Eliza Clemm Poe.

A marriage between an older man and a young girl was customary among the Bedouins, as it still is in many societies across the world today. It was not unheard of in Muhammad’s time for boys and girls to be promised to each other in marriage almost as soon as they were born, particularly if the union was of direct political significance to the families concerned. However, such marriages were almost certainly not consummated until both parties had entered adulthood, which Arabs in the 7th century tended to reach at an earlier age than Westerners today. It is highly unlikely that Muhammad would have taken Aisha into his bed until she was at least in her early teens, which was wholly in keeping with the customs of the day, and in context not in the least improper.

He replied, "You curse frequently and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have not seen anyone more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious sensible man could be led astray by some of you." The women asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! What is deficient in our intelligence and religion?" He said, "Is not the evidence of two women equal to the witness of one man?" They replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her intelligence. Isn't it true that a woman can neither pray nor fast during her menses?" The women replied in the affirmative. He said, "This is the deficiency in her religion."
It has been mistranslated. The word nuqsan used in the hadith doesn't mean deficiency. This rendition is inappropriate because the word in this context means a ‘reduction,’ as it is used in the Quran in other parts:
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا أَنَّا نَأْتِي الْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَا
Have they not seen that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders?
Surat al-R’ad 13:41
And again:
أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّا نَأْتِي الْأَرْضَ نَنقُصُهَا مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَا
Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders?

Women have half b--rain?
Meanwhile almost 1/4th of Islamic traditions and jurisprudence comes from the testimony of one single woman, Hazrat Aisha. How can a woman be considered less when She is capable enough to contribute the vast majority of God's law i.e. shariah. Even the senior most companions would go to Hazrat Aisha to learn about Islam and it's obligations
Abu Musa reported:

Also a woman's testimony is as good as man in all cases except in fields where she has no experience like financial transactions. There two women are to be taken as witnesses as according to the Quran, ' so that if one of them (two women) errs, the other can remind her…”
[al-Baqarah 2:282] and not because she is h-avi-ng half of the intelligence in comparison to a man.
Similarly in fields or aspects of life where men had no experiences like child birth or other so cases, then instead of taking a man's testimony, a single woman's testimony was taken and was considered enough
Ibn Rushd writes:
وَأَمَّا شَهَادَةُ النِّسَاءِ مُفْرَدَاتٍ أَعْنِي النِّسَاءَ دُونَ الرِّجَالِ فَهِيَ مَقْبُولَةٌ عِنْدَ الْجُمْهُورِ فِي حُقُوقِ الْأَبْدَانِ الَّتِي لَا يَطَّلِعُ عَلَيْهَا الرِّجَالُ غَالِبًا مِثْلَ الْوِلَادَةِ وَالِاسْتِهْلَالِ وَعُيُوبِ النِّسَاءِ
As for the testimony of individual women, meaning women without men, it is accepted by the majority in personal rights which are usually not the purview of men, such as pregnancy, consummation, and ailments affecting women.

Also if the woman is accustomed to financial and commercial transactions, her lone testimony will be considered enough just as Mu’awiyah passed a judgment concerning housing based on the sole testimony of Umm Salamah, without requiring any corroboration.

Also the testimony of women being half in financial or commercial transactions has nothing to do with her intelli-gence but rather it was the fact that in most societies, women were not involved in the conventional economic sphere. Hence they were considered to be not so accustomed in such transactions and hence were more likely to make a fault and thats what the earliest scholars understood it to be

وَالْمَرْأَةُ الْعَدْلُ كَالرَّجُلِ فِي الصِّدْقِ وَالْأَمَانَةِ وَالدِّيَانَة إلَّا أَنَّهَا لَمَّا خِيفَ عَلَيْهَا السَّهْوُ وَالنِّسْيَانُ قَوِيَتْ بِمِثْلِهَا وَذَلِكَ قَدْ يَجْعَلُهَا أَقْوَى مِنْ الرَّجُلِ الْوَاحِدِ أَوْ مِثْلَهُ وَلَا رَيْب أَنَّ الظَّنَّ الْمُسْتَفَادَ مِنْ شَهَادَةِ مِثْلِ أُمِّ الدَّرْدَاءِ وَأُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ أَقْوَى مِنْ الظَّنِّ الْمُسْتَفَادِ مِنْ رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ دُونَهُمَا وَدُونَ أَمْثَالِهِمَا
The woman is equal to the man in truthfulness, honesty, and piety; otherwise, if it is feared that she will forget or misremember, she is strengthened with another like herself. That makes them stronger than a single man or the likes of him. There is no question that the benefit of the doubt given to the testimony of Umm Darda and Umm ‘Atiyyah is stronger than the benefit of the doubt given to a single man without them or the likes of them.

Ibn Taymiyyah writes:
فَمَا كَانَ مِنْ الشَّهَادَاتِ لَا يُخَافُ فِيهِ الضَّلَالُ فِي الْعَادَةِ لَمْ تَكُنْ فِيهِ عَلَى نِصْفِ رَجُلٍ
Whatever there is among the testimonies of women, in which there is no fear of habitual error, they are not considered as half of a man.

As far as women being the majority in h-ellfir-e, according to Islamic epistemology, in the future there will be more women than men even by the ratio of 40 women for every man
Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
وَتَكْثُرَ النِّسَاءُ وَيَقِلَّ الرِّجَالُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ لِخَمْسِينَ امْرَأَةً الْقَيِّمُ الْوَاحِدُ
There will be an abundance of women and scarcity of men such that fifty women will be maintained by a single man

In another narration, the Prophet (ṣ) said:
وَيُرَى الرَّجُلُ الْوَاحِدُ يَتْبَعُهُ أَرْبَعُونَ امْرَأَةً يَلُذْنَ بِهِ مِنْ قِلَّةِ الرِّجَالِ وَكَثْرَةِ النِّسَاءِ
A man will be seen followed by forty women seeking refuge with him due to the scarcity of men and abundance of women.

And it is also said that majority of the human population will enter h- ell in the ratio of 99:1 where 99 will enter h-ell and 1 will enter paradise
hadeeth was narrated by al-Bukhaari (6529) from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The first one to be called on the Day of Resurrection will be Adam. He will be shown his progeny and it will be said, ‘This is your father Adam.’ He will say, ‘Here I am at Your service.’ He will say: ‘Bring forth those who are to be sent to Hell from among your progeny.’ He will say, ‘O Lord, how many should I bring forth?’ He will say, ‘Bring forth from every hundred ninety nine.’” They said: “O Messenger of Allaah, if ninety nine are taken from every hundred of us, what will be left of us?” He said, “My ummah, among the other nations, is like a white hair on a black bull.”
So accordingly, the Ulema and the classical scholars understood that women will be in majority in both paradise and in h-ell because of them being large in numbers in comparison to men
Muhammad ibn Sirin reported: People were boasting to each other, whether men or women would be a majority in Paradise. Abu Huraira said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say:
إِنَّ أَوَّلَ زُمْرَةٍ تَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ عَلَى صُورَةِ الْقَمَرِ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ وَالَّتِي تَلِيهَا عَلَى أَضْوَإِ كَوْكَبٍ دُرِّيٍّ فِي السَّمَاءِ لِكُلِّ امْرِئٍ مِنْهُمْ زَوْجَتَانِ اثْنَتَانِ يُرَى مُخُّ سُوقِهِمَا مِنْ وَرَاءِ اللَّحْمِ وَمَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَعْزَبُ
Verily, the first group to enter Paradise will have faces as bright as the full moon at night. The next group will have faces as bright as shining stars in the sky. Every man will have two wives and the marrow of their shanks would glimmer beneath their skin and there will be no one in Paradise without a wife.

Every man will have ‘two wives’ in Paradise, who will not experience worldly jealousy as they would in this life. This has been understood by some scholars to indicate that women are the majority of humankind.
Al-Qadi ‘Iyad comments on this tradition, saying:
ظَاهِرُ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنَّ النِّسَاءَ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَفِي الْحَدِيثِ الْآخَرِ أَنَّهُنَّ أَكْثَرُ أَهْلِ النَّارِ قَالَ فَيَخْرُجُ مِنْ مَجْمُوعِ هَذَا أَنَّ النِّسَاءَ أَكْثَرُ وَلَدِ آدَمَ
This tradition demonstrates that women are the majority of the people of Paradise, and in another tradition that they are a majority of the people of Hellfire. What can be deduced from them together is that women are the majority of the children of Adam.

And Ibn Hajar writes:
وَاسْتَدَلَّ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ عَلَى أَنَّ النِّسَاءَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ أَكْثَرُ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ كَمَا أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِمٌ مِنْ طَرِيقِ بن سِيرِينَ عَنْهُ وَهُوَ وَاضِحٌ
Abu Huraira used this tradition as evidence for there being more women in Paradise than men, as narrated from Muslim by way of Ibn Sirin; this is clear.

As for why the Prophet said so that women will be in majority in he-ll, He said so to encourage the women to do more great deeds and work for the Ummah and for God
