We need rent controls and more public affordable housing built. Rent takes up 70-80% of most workers paycheques these days. Unless you want to live with a roommate you're looking at minimum about 1200-1400 a rent per month and even with a roommate you're looking at 800-1000 a month minimum. Then you have bills and an insane cost of living. This is why theft has skyrocketed in Canada. People are desperate to do anything to avoid being homeless which is also at record setting levels. We need rent controls and more public affordable housing built.
Rent takes up 70-80% of most workers paycheques these days. Unless you want to live with a roommate you're looking at minimum about 1200-1400 a rent per month and even with a roommate you're looking at 800-1000 a month minimum.
Then you have bills and an insane cost of living. This is why theft has skyrocketed in Canada. People are desperate to do anything to avoid being homeless which is also at record setting levels.
We need to put people first and greed second because it's become unsustainable.
