It's really not a good investment. If you spend $25, and only get a few hundred dollars 30 years later, that's a bad investment. You would've been better taking that $25 and investing it an S&P 500 index fund. You would have way more money in 30 years.

Neither of us knew they’d be worth £300 a few years later. I skated the crap out of them. No one knew you could sell them for so much haha. First skate shoe that was thickish, yet had boardfeel and flexibility with a lot of grip

I remember it was a really cool move back in 2004-2005 when you could only get Nike SBs in certain skate stores. One skate store per town was allowed the shoes at one point. It was a good idea because the skate stores actually got behind it and liked the shoes. I’m sure some at first were like “errr ok,” but they definitely were ahead of the curve on that one. Also some skaters were totally cool with it (I wasn’t at the time but like them now lol) as those other skaters grew up wearing Nike football shoes (I’m British where everyone loves football) so the transition wasn’t weird for them. The only down side was, by 2008 when I started liking the shoes a lot, they were difficult to find haha. Would have to drive quite far to get them or order online

He got them and totally trashed the pair in a few months. We, his friends, had no clue he had done that. So we saw him a while later with a fresh pair on his feet. Turns out he had found another pair online and got them as well. You guessed, also trashed them in a few months. Now, why do you think i would wait so long to tell you which SBs they were? Back in the day I actually skated in Air Force 1's until I saved enough to buy dunks and when I finally did I instead spent it on a pair of Air Jordan 1's it was worth it.
I think the quality went a long way. I had always wore eS, Fallen, or Lakai, but when the Koston 1 dropped I gave them a try. I had always questioned skating a pair of Nikes, but within the first sesh you could tell how above and beyond the development of those shoes were. They lasted a whole season of skating daily for me, I only bought another pair cause the bottom of the shoes wore through after half a year. That experience really had me hooked, I have bought nothing but Nikes since besides the occasional Vans Pro series. If I ever see EK1's I always cop them.
It is understandable why people don’t like Nike. It was a big brand in the 1980’s, and still is. For some people what turns them off from Nike shoes is the big Logo on each shoe. For some people, they love the logo, and don’t mind it much as they like louder shoes. And that’s okay, just as it is to dislike it.
SB birthed the modern day sneaker culture. Anybody who argues with that doesn’t know the history. People weren’t camping out for sneakers before they arrived.

first pair of SBs was hemp from local skate shop, really wish I got the Heinekenand Manchester United as well. hemp lasted for years until they totally fell apart. now whenever I cop new shoes I always get 2 pairs. one to wear and one to collect. been wearing SB dunks exclusively (aside from hiking shoes/boots) for the last 15 or 16yrs

Been collecting since 2012 mainly classic Nike models, been wearing dunks since 2007 been wearing blazers since 2009 and Jordan 1’s since 2010 all of which I skate now. Plus some other shit vans ice creams blah blah. Either way I say all that to say I’ve watched classic Nike models come in and out of style and tbh since the lobsters, Travis always showing off some rare ass dunks, and the upcoming SB collabs the hype will be back soon. I’m tryna get all I can now before the price jumps and I can’t hardly get anything anymore. It’s all a cycle. The only thing that stayed consistently expensive is yeezys. From 2009-2019 they always been too damn expensive.

I think the quality went a long way. I had always wore eS, Fallen, or Lakai, but when the Koston 1 dropped I gave them a try. I had always questioned skating a pair of Nikes, but within the first sesh you could tell how above and beyond the development of those shoes were. They lasted a whole season of skating daily for me, I only bought another pair cause the bottom of the shoes wore through after half a year. That experience really had me hooked, I have bought nothing but Nikes since besides the occasional Vans Pro series. If I ever see EK1's I always cop them.
It is understandable why people don’t like Nike. It was a big brand in the 1980’s, and still is. For some people what turns them off from Nike shoes is the big Logo on each shoe. For some people, they love the logo, and don’t mind it much as they like louder shoes. And that’s okay, just as it is to dislike it.

Been collecting since 2012 mainly classic Nike models, been wearing dunks since 2007 been wearing blazers since 2009 and Jordan 1’s since 2010 all of which I skate now. Plus some other shit vans ice creams blah blah. Either way I say all that to say I’ve watched classic Nike models come in and out of style and tbh since the lobsters, Travis always showing off some rare ass dunks, and the upcoming SB collabs the hype will be back soon. I’m tryna get all I can now before the price jumps and I can’t hardly get anything anymore. It’s all a cycle. The only thing that stayed consistently expensive is yeezys. From 2009-2019 they always been too damn expensive.

miss the days when you could find a pair of dunks on sale at a nike outlet and they kept putting them out so people could skate them. I skated 4 pairs in high school and loved the look and feel. kinda pissed at nike for the reduced availability these days it seems the only people who get to skate them are sponsored skaters.
