Why do people hold up German cars as superior at this price point. Japanese/Korean cars give you way better reliability, most have better warranties, much more tech. Unless you want a powerful car I’m not sold that German cars are better at this price point.
In terms of next generation tech, no way does this Honda hybrid Civic have ''much more tech'' than possible German equivalents at the 55k price point. It has USB-A slower ports instead of USB-C; dismal resolution on the reversing camera which is also lacking 360 degrees; an old-school 9-inch infotainment screen with pretty 'vanilla tailoring options', compared to what is now coming out with all the newer EV cars or even the latest VW Golf. This is not necessarily such a bad thing however... I'm also not 100% certain that for Australian conditions, that these days Japanese Honda hybrid cars are necessarily bullet-proof 15-year reliability anymore, compared to their German/Korean/other Japanese counterparts. Also a dismal lack of dealer network to service your cars if something goes wrong/etc. in Victoria for Hondas..
@@comba06 dunno about Australia but in the UK the Advance model is way below the price of BMW/Audi and has more tech as standard. You get more bang for your buck with Japanese/Korean cars, been that way for a long time in the UK
What a dumb comment about for a similar price you can get a German luxury brand like they are the benchmark or something. There's nothing good about owning an entry level POV spec German cars especially considering they are overpriced to begin with.

Now that's around $100,000K plus for two . Well I guess that's " almost, nearly, somewhere near, sort of in the ball park,sort of thing". Let me know where I can grab a duo for almost $55,000.00K drive away, I'll actually take four please.
If it feels premium and drives like a luxury car AND is a hybrid, why shouldn't it cost 55k? There are cars that are most certainly overpriced (Mercedes comes to mind), but this isn't one.
i just don't get it. honda generally build more premium car than toyota. the reliability is on par with toyota as well. yes, toyota is cheaper than it but take a look the interior quality in the rev4 and it is easy to explain why it is cheap. why $55000 is expensive to australians while $70000 vw passat is a fair price? just because it is an asian brand? so where is holden? at least as an asian, i still own the commodore
Honda is pricing itself out of Australia. A great car that very few will buy, as $55K will get you other options that are better equipped with next generation tech.
Please tell me what other euro options there are with the same equipment and fuel efficiency? Genuinely want to know as I'm pretty sure all others will want you to add optional extras to match that end up another $8k minimal. Then add on top running g costs and servicing animals positive those euro options are far more expensiv. I've been looking at options for a while, and the civic hybrid looks very competitive
If you have not seen the real civic 2022/23, keep in mind that its size is almost like sedan. It is bigger than the old civic, judging by its size alone, it may not even be qualified as "hatch back". So, civic is a tricky one to compare. It really sits between hatch back and sedan. And surprisingly, Toyota Corolla Hybrid 2022/23 in UK is roughly the same price as Civic 2022/23. You Australian are lucky with Corolla. But in UK, the choice will be civic any days. And the civic 2022 is built in Japan, exported to UK.
Drive one and you will definitely have your mind changed. Base model German/European cars have none of the inclusions or quality that this does. I’ve compared merc, bmw and Lexus base models at same price point as ehev and have decided on the Civic. Not just buying a badge. If more people drove it, I think it would change some minds. Just my opinion..
Streamlined Civic Hybrid (first appeared on Civic sedans) with electric drivetrain and 2.0 goes best with ethanol unleaded saves money and carbon than regular unleaded.
Why do people have this need to compare everything to a German badge. Okay they make good cars but tell me what model and features you actually get for the same on road price of $55k. I'll take a well specd Japanese car over an entry grade German car with little features (even when they're not being removed due to semiconductor shortages) bland interiors and more likely worse fuel efficiency...on that every German car wants you to put min 95ron in it where as the Honda still takes 91 because the electric engine does most of the heavy lifting. I have no doubt an equally spec'd German brand car would be another $10k ...ohh and servicing is also only $1000 for the first 5 services of the Civic which puts it miles ahead of its German competitors. It's just a shame the wait time has blown out for the Civic ehev 😕
You keep talking about the high price, but you didn't even configured a rival car with same techs and features. You will find out that the price difference it's just a myth. Very poor and highly subjective review. But I guess with this sort of controversy you get a lot of comments witch feeds the TH-cam algorithm gods to push the video up, right?

And there's another big difference - interior space. BMW 3 is smaller inside, I think Audi A4 also.
