As a Mexican American from California I can tell you for a fact the food is just as good. Up and down the state there are tiny holes in the wall and large restaurants that make amazing authentic food and for the most part they are affordable for the portion sizes. I love this video, it's so wonderful hearing a foreign perspective on what I take for granted. Thank you!
I lived in San Antonio for 15 years and it was the same thing. It seemed like the dumpier the place was, the better the food. I miss it so much. I've been in Atlanta for 7 years and still haven't found a spot that would crack my SA Top 10.

And I cannot believe you found the real deal mexican food that we natives love to eat. I'm SO impressed! I'm binging on your videos and I love them! As noted previously, the restaurant is Campos Famous Burritos. The "menudo" on the window refers to a traditional Mexican soup/stew that is usually available only on weekends in many Mexican restaurants, as it takes time and effort to make it. It is also traditionally made at home for special occasions or holidays, such as for the New Year (it's a folk remedy for hangovers!).
I believe he started his channel when the pandemic started and some of the places he picked up food from didn’t have seating available. So he simply brought his own.
So happy you got to try some quality Mexican food while here in the United States! Most Americans absolutely love their Mexican food and you can find a solid taco place in most American cities. Make sure to try some mole sauce while out there, it will blow your mind!
Yes, trying a burrito in LA really made sense. The population of Mexico City is around 9 million and Tijuana, the next largest city in Mexico, is around 2 million. And then, in the USA, the Hispanic population of LA is between 2 to 5 million (LA city versus LA county). So, there's lots of really good Mexican food in LA - even seafood, such as fish and shrimp tacos.
Just a shame there are idiots in America who get upset at non-Mexican people enjoying Mexican food because "it's cultural appropriation!" Usually they're not Mexican either!

I haven't been back to LA for 40 years but I KNOW that Mexican restaurant. It's called Campos. And I know it's Campos because there is that Burger King restaurant across the street and the interior of the restaurant is pretty much the same (and they still offer red and green sauces). I ate there practically every weekday because I attended Santa Monica City College. And let me tell you, I was addicted to their cheese, avocado and lettuce burritos. They were like a drug to me. I always ate them with green chilli sauce. Absolutely amazing. I've never tasted anything like the food at Campos and I've tried Mexican food in places like Korea, England and Scotland and it's just not the same. xxx

Genuine Mexican food is my absolute favourite, I’ve never had good Mexican food in England. My old Mexican neighbour used to make tamales every Christmas, heaven for your mouth
As a fellow Brit who lived in Texas for many years I loved Mexican food too, and I’m not sure but I think that gravy looked like what they call a mole sauce…..pronounced (Molay) or a poblano mole, in which they sometimes add a little chocolate along with chili peppers etc. the Mexican people usually have their own variations and recipes, so you will never get one the same. Glad you enjoyed it!
It's not mole, it's a red enchilada sauce made from red chiles. Some enchiladas are covered in a mole but this specific sauce looked like a standard red enchilada sauce

I’m doing a lot of experiments here back in England with Mexican recipes, although getting the kind of dried chilies you could just buy in the supermarkets in Texas is not easy in the UK, although you can get them online.
@@Tawny6702 yes the color can definitely vary, it depends on the style of Mexican food you're accustomed to. In Texas (and most of the US), the Mexican food is mostly Northern Mexican style which has its own flavor and unique taste. But Mexico is a huge country and each region makes each recipe differently from one another so it varies from place to place. My family is from Mazatlan, Sinaloa which is a coastal city in the western part of Mexico so the food my mother makes is very different from what you would see in Texas.

That was a wet burrito. Enchiladas are deep fried burritos in the same red gravy (you can also get green). I was waiting for the moment sweet corn might creep in, but alas….glad you enjoyed it! Horchata is amazing, and a lot of us substitute it for eggnog at holiday times and add light and dark rum. Gracias Danny!

Yo buddy! Angelino here! If you’re still in LA hit up Philippes Also I’ll add after finishing the video: you gotta try traditional soft tacos! Some solid soft shell Carne Asada tacos from a taqueria are the way to go. It’s a Mexican food staple. Typically any taco stand, restaurant or truck in East Los, Downtown, Boyle Heights, Van Nuys, Pacoima, Sylmar, Panorama City etc, any of those cities you’ll find a good spot just walking around.
Haven't seen the full video yet but I have a sneaky suspicion this is the last one of the US "trip" videos. Two in NY and two in LA. Would love to be proven wrong but unless he went to other states in between NY and Cali then I can't see there being any other videos from the US.
I am a brit in the UK, and at 12:10 that Chevrolet Impala, convertible. My Dad had one back in the early 70s in red with tan upholstery, I think its a 1963 model from memory.

That was a wet burrito. Enchiladas are deep fried burritos in the same red gravy (you can also get green). I was waiting for the moment sweet corn might creep in, but alas….glad you enjoyed it! Horchata is amazing, and a lot of us substitute it for eggnog at holiday times and add light and dark rum. Gracias Danny!
enchiladas are smaller style burritos with a specific enchilada sauce, when there fried they become chimichanga's

Also I’ll add after finishing the video: you gotta try traditional soft tacos! Some solid soft shell Carne Asada tacos from a taqueria are the way to go. It’s a Mexican food staple. Typically any taco stand, restaurant or truck in East Los, Downtown, Boyle Heights, Van Nuys, Pacoima, Sylmar, Panorama City etc, any of those cities you’ll find a good spot just walking around.

Haven't seen the full video yet but I have a sneaky suspicion this is the last one of the US "trip" videos. Two in NY and two in LA. Would love to be proven wrong but unless he went to other states in between NY and Cali then I can't see there being any other videos from the US.

I am a brit in the UK, and at 12:10 that Chevrolet Impala, convertible. My Dad had one back in the early 70s in red with tan upholstery, I think its a 1963 model from memory.
