I'm deaf, but this was great advice, especially on the Sennheiser, which I've heard great things about. Absolutely true on having good sound which will make or break a film and I learned this the hard way years ago.
It's crazy how much goes into making shorts and movies, etc. It's great you've got talented people to work with you! Your videos are always so informative. Thank you!!
Interesting device to put at the end of your "boom pole"! I'm sure the wife loves it! Really nice work Mike! I like the time sync option with that clapboard. it's awesome! I agree with the good audio! SOO MANY movies these days are junk just because of the mixing of the audio they have used. You do great work with audio. Keep it up!
wow! as someone who just bought a beginner supply of audio gear, this is great information, especially about what to use for the lav mics and transmitters! thank you!
This is great as I'm always interested in how you guys get such GREAT audio. I seen the bloopers to this video and now I get the chance to hear Michael in a serious tone (hahaha). He does have quite a personality so your video jumped up a few notches!. Some of this makes sense to me but I'm not close to the level you guys are at. Watching this, I realize recording sound digitally on a device separately gives you MANY useful options. Love the timestamp or time code vs naging the sticks is exact; great GREAT tool! I can't believe a shotgun mic for $1k.... nice!!! Wow, an extra 100 yards is (wireless setup) is a big difference. He's right, reliability is worth every penny. I could imagine the pain of recording a shot and then not having the audio. The pregnant jokes... hahaha! Those damn directors haha, get em Mickael!! I loved learning a little about the tips and tricks here. Excited for the next one, Wes 🍻💥👊
Nice review, you have a little competition Wes with this Michael dude, he's pretty good in front of the camera and funny, good voice, and let's not forget the great hair do! dude is on fire! lol
This is so epic. I really love the insight on audio and it totally fits in with all your content here. A thousand on a Sanheizer is actually understandable. I have often used Sanheizer vocal mic in my performances and it never fails. At 6:27 pregnant?!! lol, not sure what thats about but its its a boy you can called him Mic. The wirelesss explanation is awesome, I really love this my friend. Keep em coming fellas.
Glad you enjoyed our vid, Frank! If you check out our short film Marbletown, it has almost 300k views and Mike was the lead actor in it. The top comment is someone calling Mike pregnant 😬😂
I dig the lighting in this one Home Slice! I would love to have that gear. I'm using a RodeLink TX which works pretty good, but I had to buy a $100 lav mic to replace the one it came with. It's a bit too sensitive to ambient sound, but does the job. I'd love to get the super high end gear, but priorities lol, got to get some camera shite. This is great Bro!! I need to eliminate clothing rustle man big time, I hate that! Nice shirt too!🎬🎥😁🙌🔥
Thx for the inside! Big time question: How to transport the blimp and other bigger gear items 😅 All the run 'n' gun/shoot situations are really taxing when there is noone besides you to carry anything. Especially when you have to carrey the camera too. Like shooting a location to promote the place as an 1 man armee. Really annoying. At the end of the day you fall flat on the floor.
Thanks for checking it out! Yes, it is expensive for a lot of people. But this is his job so he has to invest in it to continue to put food on the table.
@@ThinkingArtEntertainment I auumed most of the equipment you guys use is professional grade and I got to use some when I studied videography back in college
What brand/model is the bag? It is a Petrol/Sachtler SN607? If it is that bag, how much of the MixPre 10 stands out on the top with the 8xAA installed? I can't find out anywhere. Thanks in advance!
You connect the microphone to the recorder using an XLR cable, and then you get the shotgun as close to the source speaking as possible sitting just outside of frame for the best sound.
Michael, if you are pregnant then I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue my man But that is a lot of stuff to have in a bag for such a small bag, does that bag duplicate into the TARDIS?
Funny you mention the size of the bag, I am actually going to upgrade to a larger bag. The setup is compact but starting to feel a bit crowded. Thanks for watching!
Absolutely! I've had more work on llive streams and conferences that required more than three wires throughout 2020 due to Covid, but I'd say that normally 90% of my work is no more than two wires and a boom.
I agree on spending a grand for the the Sennheiser shotgun mic. Great tips on how to prevent clothing rustle- I would not have realized this.
Thanks for checking the vid out! Glad you enjoyed it and found some valuable info.

I think good sound will make or break any kind of video and TH-cam channels as well. Biggest tip I can stress.
I also learned the importance of having a sound guy with me when I was in school!
Sound guys are paramount!
It's crazy how much goes into making shorts and movies, etc. It's great you've got talented people to work with you! Your videos are always so informative. Thank you!!
Thanks so much! Glad you found the video informative.
"Sounds" like a nice audio bag, I like what I'm "hearing" ;) This Michael guy has a really good on cam personality. Nice review!
ha! I see what you did there! Mike is great, he needs to host more :)
@@ThinkingArtEntertainment I agree man, he's not bad at all, quite funny too
Brilliant performance of Michael. This guy is hilarious. Thanks for the candid review and insight into your audiobag.

Andrew and I decided to start calling him Boom Michael, so his device is Boom Michael's Boomstick!
wow! as someone who just bought a beginner supply of audio gear, this is great information, especially about what to use for the lav mics and transmitters! thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it, Jes!!! Mike has a wealth of audio knowledge, and we are planning more audio related video collaborations soon!
Very interesting and really enjoyed this! It seems like a really nice audio bag. This guy takes to the camera well. Loved it very awesome!
Mike is ready for his own show! :P Glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you for sharing :) Audio is really important, so this was a goog to see!
Most important part of any video :) thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed the vid!
You guys have a perfect set up! Makes me want to upgrade and I just might thanks for the info and great video!

Thanks Danny! Really glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for checking it out! Audio is definitely an entirely different beast.
Hey it’s nice to see what your audio producer uses and how you capture audio for your short films!
Thanks DJ! Glad you enjoyed the vid.
Man that's so much stuff, im having problems getting my simple mic to work properly... 😅
haha that's all right though. He's an audio professional!
Nice review, you have a little competition Wes with this Michael dude, he's pretty good in front of the camera and funny, good voice, and let's not forget the great hair do! dude is on fire! lol
That hair! He would definitely make a better host than I would. I don't have a very manly voice T_T
Didn’t know audio had so many depths😯, nice video
So much!
Nice kit 😊
I definitely need to up my game. Thanks a lot.

@@ThinkingArtEntertainment Oh gotcha, going to have to check that out. Seems like the more views a video has the more crazy people it attracts!!
So true!
"Pregnant?"
Eff them haters, Mike. I love you. And frankly that's literally all that matters.
Our love is all he needs.

thanks for the info maybe I can use this audio bag with my gaming channel.
His audio bag would be overkill, but I definitely recommend a good mic/preamp to get better audio! Better audio makes channels stand out.

Was that your hand with the perspex box when it moved out of the shot Wes? The look Michael gave you during his time on camera man haha
haha it was! And he did not appreciate it :(
Very great advice and tips, and obviously great value for money (even though for me personally it is expensive hehe)
Thanks for checking it out! Yes, it is expensive for a lot of people. But this is his job so he has to invest in it to continue to put food on the table.
which audio bag is he using? i'm trying to find a bag for the mixpre 10 that doesn't block any of the side ports or dials
It was a Porta Brace, but they don't make that model anymore. He uses an Orca now. I think the OR-32 - similar to this (amzn.to/3pOs4tV) but bigger.
I love tech vlogs gives me ideas on equipment to buy when I get cash built up
Some of this stuff is pretty pricey since this is more professional grade equipment. There's a bunch of consumer level stuff that's cheaper out there!

Awesome video
Thanks!
I have candy, fashion tape, and sticky notes in my audio bag.
Gonna have to steal the candy in the audio bag idea!

My man Michael looks a lot like Seth Rogen with Sideshow Bob's hair, is that a compliment? I think it is
bahaha! He's gotten the Seth Rogen thing a lot... in fact at one of the film festivals, we overheard someone saying "he's like an angry Seth Rogen"
What is the name of that audio bag?
How to connect it with boom mic and how the boom mic works while filming?
You connect the microphone to the recorder using an XLR cable, and then you get the shotgun as close to the source speaking as possible sitting just outside of frame for the best sound.
Hey that dude does look pregnant and this was a great review of the audio gear you guys use for your short films!
Oh snap! Shots fired, shots fired!!!!
Hey Wes did you get a haircut? you look different, pregnant even! lol just kidding. Great review and Michael you are good shiz bro!

I can't believe we didn't mention your actual bag. DOH!
Just as you've bought your new camera and gear, you realize you've only paid for half of what you need.
haha pretty much!
Do you think the six-channel of the sound devices mix pre 6 would be enough for most mixers?
Absolutely! I've had more work on llive streams and conferences that required more than three wires throughout 2020 due to Covid, but I'd say that normally 90% of my work is no more than two wires and a boom.
