Haha, same for me. He is a legitimately good man and extremely hard worker. His recovery from malaria while slowly progressing and never giving up is equivalent to his in ring work. He started off barely a jobber and eventually found himself and became a solid upper mid card guy. He also had some awesome matches with Owen Hart.

I watched this the week I came down with covid in New York in September 2020. I sat there on my own in my apartment, throwing up, burning up, unable to breathe, numbness in limbs, and just generally feeling like hell. I knew of Blackman's story but listening to this gave me hope and inspiration at a time when I really needed it. All I could do was sleep and I lost about 30lbs of muscle. I knew I'd have a long road ahead of me, but Steve's story has and continues to inspire. Thanks for making this.

I am in a much better condition now and only recently got over a third bout which was more a blip than anything else. Like yourself, I'll never get the vax. My advice is to allow your body time to rest and only slowly work individual body parts back into shape. If you can, get blood tests done and check your hormone levels as C19 has been shown to drastically reduce testosterone. Also check your B vitamin levels. Clean diet, fresh air, and plenty of sunlight when you can get it in Ireland (from Derry originally so I know the difficulty there). We'll all get through this.

It's rare for a WWF star I know to leave on his own terms while still being used and promoted. He was just all around solid, and I loved watching him. Sounds like he had no problems in the WWF and again, that's extremely rare. I'm glad he was able to showcase his talents to us.
Blackman's legacy is definitely fine wine to me. While I always appreciated his contributions, I didn't realize the true value of what he added until years after he retired.

Even tho his promos weren’t great he still had the intense look which helped to keep his credibility. I hope he’s living an awesome life nowadays because he was such an amazing mid-carder, which is absolutely a compliment, I think the reason WWF beat WCW is because of the depth in the roster and he was definitely an upper mid-carder. I loved his Shane McMahon match and the Hardcore title win.
I wish you would’ve mentioned his finisher, top rope kick to the sternum. I remember the first time I seen it, I nearly jumped through the ceiling. This had to qualify him as a serious contender moving forward.

Another fantastic video and a great tribute to a genuine tough guy. I saw him at the terminal at DIA, he was a very nice individual. I was able to visit with him for about 15 minutes--much of it was about his malaria. I suffered with the West Nile virus years ago so I guess we had something relative to share. Steve Blackman is from the next town over from where I live. I never actually met him but I have a friend who goes to the same gym as him and talks to him on a daily basis.

I actually liked him really well. He had good moves, phycice and worked hard. He deserves a HOF induction for his work. Summerslam against Shane McMahon was epic.
He has that cool factor that reminded me of Hakushi.
Future reliving the war legend
Another fantastic video and a great tribute to a genuine tough guy. I saw him at the terminal at DIA, he was a very nice individual. I was able to visit with him for about 15 minutes--much of it was about his malaria. I suffered with the West Nile virus years ago so I guess we had something relative to share. Loved his work, glad to hear he's still going strong. I'm gonna check out his bondsman clips now!
