- Andronikos Karamperis and Christos Tsarouchis performs Serenata Andaluza by the great Spanish composer Manuel de Falla.
Manuel de Falla (1876 - 1946) was a top Spanish composer. He studied composition at the Madrid Conservatory with Felipe Pedrell, who was a major influence on the young composer, arguing that a nation's music should be based on its traditional folk song. De Falla traveled to Paris, where he met and became friends with Debussy, Dukas, Ravel and Stravinsky. His music, which combines the French tradition and the Spanish folk heritage, brought new life to the music of his homeland.
Serenata Andaluza was written in 1900 and is originally written for solo piano. Serenade was originally a kind of song (chant) with a calm and light character. It was borrowed by classical composers to form a form consisting of alternating many slow and fast parts.
The recording session took place at the Concert Hall of the Filarmoniki Foundation - Concervatory of Patras.
