Wow! The Q150s for my ears, and I’m bowled over by AXA25. I’m running the CXA81 and the Denon PMA-600NE (beast of an amp) here at my home, and am itching to get some KEF speakers to enjoy. Thanks for the demo.

Very nice comparison using a cheap and good amp. Most people use cheap amps at their homes. So very useful video!!

Thanks you for doing this. My ears say that Q150s has a slower bass that seems rolled off a little and not as clear in the high frequency range. Diamond has clear but brighter highs and a faster bass. Im leaning towards the Q150s

Again, the 12.2 shows its midcentric side making the Q150 sound V shaped in comparison. Not as bad as the P5 but still not as full in the mids. The Q350 on the other hand is a way more neutral speaker than the Q150 and i prefer that sound more that its sibling. Its difficult to go back to any sound signature once you are accustomed to what neutral sounds like. I cant bump the treble control on my amp even by a notch anymore. Lol! The soul of any music lies in the mids and balance is key to great sound. And I whole heartedly stand by that.

Not right, Q150 is more linear, they have monitor sound

@@photonsphere760 stop lying to yourself. The frequency response graph is nowhere near flat, its not even close to a studio monitor. The Q150 is linear? Thats the funniest shit Ive heard all week.

They both sound good. I would probably pick the warmer sounding Q150

The Diamonds tweeter is so open and airy.

E Project, I would like to see the 12.2 vs the Q350 vs the Polk Reserve R200 which is the most neutral speaker Ive seen for under 1000 bucks, dare I say under 1500 bucks. In this group the 12.2 will have a hard time keeping up but it will very interesting for sure.

@@eprojectEllie I have the Lintons Heritage, and I always thought main competition on Wharfedale would be the Evos but now I see it’s the 12.2 in my opinion :)

I like Kef better. Wharfedale has something in the highs that annoys me.

I don't know what Mike is listening with, because I hear exactly the opposite of what he describes. To my ears, the KEF has faster, punchier, and more defined bass, and the 12.2's bass is more wooly and woofy, and not as well defined. And, the KEF also has clearer and more open and transparent treble than the 12.2. For instance, on the last song, you can hear the male singer's breath, which is glossed over on the 12.2. The same is true of the xylophone type synth sounds on Higher Love. They're much clearer and more defined on the KEF, and are buried in the background and muffled sounding on the 12.2. I could happily live with either, but, if I could afford the extra $200, I'd take the 150

It could be both the speakers and my computer system playing tricks on me but the differences are very subtle. I do agree that the Q150s are slightly better for my taste. They sound a little less fatiguing.

Excellent comparison. Wish you hadn't used the AXA25 though. Not the cleanest or smoothest Cambidge.
I think these speakers are a close match , but I prefer the 12.2's. It has a weightier and meatier sound. Both have fast enough bass, but the timing of the wharfedale's is more out ahead of the rest of the sound. The KEF reveals more upper mid harmonic detail and the treble has more bite than I like.

This I agree. The 12.2 had a fuller sound and the Q150 seems constricted in the mids. Very apparent when the speakers switch in the vid.
