    I did 500 lbs x 20 reps (40 Reps) sumo and conventional dead stop in 1 session. My gym doesn't have calibrated plates and I lift with pound plates. Had to drive back home slumped because my back had a insane pump 😂😂. It's a feeling you will never forget and 20 rep workouts are great for mental strength. Let's all keep working hard and let's be GREAT! 💪💪

    Old red pete glimpse at 2:13 lol keep at it my guy you look pretty healthy and your mindset is as well.
    Those deadlifts are fn crazy for a natural lifter as well man, thank you for the content and education you provide.
    I think the heart problems could be due to Taurine, as I have taken it as a supplement, it improves my stamina and strength when i would take it, but I have had heart issues in the past and I just feel wired for hours after taking it, something like you described in your palpitations.

  • @JordanPrater
    @JordanPrater 17 วันที่ผ่านมา +3

    Pete. I took pre-workouts for a couple years consistently. Always followed the directions. If you remember in 2014 when we first worked together, I had the same issue. I tried probably 3-4 different ones, and they always would lead me to a panic attack, heart palpitations, etc. Oddly enough coffee and caffeine pills never cause an issue. I still can’t take pre-workouts, and only energy drink I can handle is Monster zero. It’s crazy.

    • @peterubishfitness
      @peterubishfitness  13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The heart palpitations are a very real thing, I relate to that but only that one energy drink would do it!

    Similar things happened with me drinking energy drinks. Used to only be about 2-3 a week. Started getting narcolepsy..feeling tired for no reason and falling asleep instantly in the daytime even sitting up in social gatherings. One time I drank a sugar free red bull and was driving...got sleepy then heart arrthymia and literally heard my heard go out of rhythm, slow down and completely stop for several seconds and then irregularly start back up and go back to normal pace. Instantly quit that moment. Since then about 8 years ago i've had neither issue since. I just drink black coffee.

    I know exactly which energy drinks good, sir. Remember me messaging you a while back saying i was having a rough go in the gym on deadlift day. That was the same brand, making me feel like garbage.. now i gotta send u a different care package when u beat me in the 500x20 pulls. I'm definitely glad you're alright and pinpointed the problem.

    Wait till your 40s. You will really want to be balanced. Get the rogue echo bike. My endurance has improved so much that my heart and lungs recover faster than my muscles. I missed a lift that wouldn’t normally miss, I wondered why? It’s the echo bike. It also cuts you up and puts meat on the quads and rear delts.

    Good to hear all is well Pete. I've had heart palp issues in the past. Mine was from Costochondritis from dips (which was scary) and at one point certain pre-workout haha. I'm an energy drink guy and a caffeine addict. My goals this year are basically just eliminate caffeine for good and read the new St. Ignatius Study bible by years end. As much as I love caffeine, I know it really isn't good for me. I see the negative impacts underlying from it. Just trying to be cautious with my health too.

    • @peterubishfitness

    • @brainletsYT

      caffeine is garbage. your only priority should be good sleep. you take caffeine because you aren't recovering from your previous day's tasks during sleep, caffeine isn't something that you should be taking under any circumstances. you feeling drowsy is a signal from your body that's trying to tell you to get your act together

    Brother, be careful with energy drinks, obviously…
    Never had issues with caffeine or drugs. Drank one, 4-5 hours went in a foot pursuit at work, and wound up in the er. Same thing… tachy , heart rate wouldn’t come down, o2 level took a dump, and got admitted. While in the hospital, I ended up with brady arrhythmia…
    Either way man. Stay healthy and happy. Hope you, Kelley, and the rest of the family have a good 2025.

    Hey man do you think your back issues are due to PED use or inherently with deadlifting? I like to deadlift heavy and plan to be a lifetime natural, but I ideally would like to avoid herniated disc issues etc so was wondering if they are in the cards for pretty much everyone who deadlifts heavy

    Hey Pete, thanks for the update. I just wanted to say that I hope you're reading the King James version of the Bible for your read through, as It's the preserved word - the current ark of the covenant for us today.
    If you've any doubts about that, I'm happy to showcase the scriptural differences between modern translations and the KJV to make a speedy case.
    This is an encouragement from the Lord on your journey. Godspeed.
