Hope you crush your goals Pete. It's great that you limit your energy drink consumption before it gotten worse. Continue to be the best version of yourself. Keep being GREAT champ!
I did 500 lbs x 20 reps (40 Reps) sumo and conventional dead stop in 1 session. My gym doesn't have calibrated plates and I lift with pound plates. Had to drive back home slumped because my back had a insane pump 😂😂. It's a feeling you will never forget and 20 rep workouts are great for mental strength. Let's all keep working hard and let's be GREAT! 💪💪
Old red pete glimpse at 2:13 lol keep at it my guy you look pretty healthy and your mindset is as well. Those deadlifts are fn crazy for a natural lifter as well man, thank you for the content and education you provide. I think the heart problems could be due to Taurine, as I have taken it as a supplement, it improves my stamina and strength when i would take it, but I have had heart issues in the past and I just feel wired for hours after taking it, something like you described in your palpitations.
Pete. I took pre-workouts for a couple years consistently. Always followed the directions. If you remember in 2014 when we first worked together, I had the same issue. I tried probably 3-4 different ones, and they always would lead me to a panic attack, heart palpitations, etc. Oddly enough coffee and caffeine pills never cause an issue. I still can’t take pre-workouts, and only energy drink I can handle is Monster zero. It’s crazy.
Similar things happened with me drinking energy drinks. Used to only be about 2-3 a week. Started getting narcolepsy..feeling tired for no reason and falling asleep instantly in the daytime even sitting up in social gatherings. One time I drank a sugar free red bull and was driving...got sleepy then heart arrthymia and literally heard my heard go out of rhythm, slow down and completely stop for several seconds and then irregularly start back up and go back to normal pace. Instantly quit that moment. Since then about 8 years ago i've had neither issue since. I just drink black coffee.
I know exactly which energy drinks good, sir. Remember me messaging you a while back saying i was having a rough go in the gym on deadlift day. That was the same brand, making me feel like garbage.. now i gotta send u a different care package when u beat me in the 500x20 pulls. I'm definitely glad you're alright and pinpointed the problem.
Wait till your 40s. You will really want to be balanced. Get the rogue echo bike. My endurance has improved so much that my heart and lungs recover faster than my muscles. I missed a lift that wouldn’t normally miss, I wondered why? It’s the echo bike. It also cuts you up and puts meat on the quads and rear delts.
Good to hear all is well Pete. I've had heart palp issues in the past. Mine was from Costochondritis from dips (which was scary) and at one point certain pre-workout haha. I'm an energy drink guy and a caffeine addict. My goals this year are basically just eliminate caffeine for good and read the new St. Ignatius Study bible by years end. As much as I love caffeine, I know it really isn't good for me. I see the negative impacts underlying from it. Just trying to be cautious with my health too.
caffeine is garbage. your only priority should be good sleep. you take caffeine because you aren't recovering from your previous day's tasks during sleep, caffeine isn't something that you should be taking under any circumstances. you feeling drowsy is a signal from your body that's trying to tell you to get your act together
@@peterubishfitness Yea I love caffeine too, but I know I need to quit it. It's a vice for me lol. I'm guessing it is C4. I just finished drinking one too haha.
I definitely had to stop taking energy drinks, Id love how awake the caffeine made me feel but it gave me really bad anxiety and a sense of dread. Like I was sitting in class feeling like I couldn't breathe and I had to get out of there
you should consider quitting caffeine. Im over 30 days caffeine free after 10 + years of a lot of caffeine daily (I could fall asleep after drinking two 12 oz cups of coffee and did that multiple times) I feel great. first couple weeks were tough but surprisingly not as bad as I thought.
Have you had a decrewse in running perfomance after a layoff? I think that when i cant run(for a long period) i lose mileage worse than the strength that i lose when i cant go to the gym.
Reading through the Bible in two years is just fine. There are reading plans where you can read old and new testament on the same day if you would like.
Brother, be careful with energy drinks, obviously… Never had issues with caffeine or drugs. Drank one, 4-5 hours went in a foot pursuit at work, and wound up in the er. Same thing… tachy , heart rate wouldn’t come down, o2 level took a dump, and got admitted. While in the hospital, I ended up with brady arrhythmia… Either way man. Stay healthy and happy. Hope you, Kelley, and the rest of the family have a good 2025.
Hey man do you think your back issues are due to PED use or inherently with deadlifting? I like to deadlift heavy and plan to be a lifetime natural, but I ideally would like to avoid herniated disc issues etc so was wondering if they are in the cards for pretty much everyone who deadlifts heavy
Hey Pete, thanks for the update. I just wanted to say that I hope you're reading the King James version of the Bible for your read through, as It's the preserved word - the current ark of the covenant for us today. If you've any doubts about that, I'm happy to showcase the scriptural differences between modern translations and the KJV to make a speedy case. This is an encouragement from the Lord on your journey. Godspeed.
Do you think it's a sin to use peds? Im trying to read the bible more and understand it. I have issues with pain from years of heavy lifting but I've thought about quitting everything even trt and going fully natural. I've tried every compound at some point so i worry about recovering my natural testosterone production.
11:27 is the most serious story i've heard pete talk about, very much deserves its own video
That can be done
You are a huge source of inspiration. It is amazing to see how you put your life in order. Have a great 2025!

Absolutely my friend! I am doing my best!
Thank you Pete, for everything you shared in this video. Much blessings to you. God is great!
God bless you brother!
Christ is king. Good to see you doing well.
Thanks buddy! Feeling great these days!

That is an insane feat! 20x500 is next level!
So glad you are where you are in your life!!
Thanks buddy! I'm feeling great!
"I'm 33 years old"... looooooool that's young
20 years of powerlifting makes one feel old lol
I smiled at that too. Wait til he's 63. But he'll be healthy and wise, God willing.

The heart palpitations are a very real thing, I relate to that but only that one energy drink would do it!
Had some similar experiences with energy drinks, anxiety, headaches, all sorts of stuff. no issues with coffee
I'm fine with most of them, just this one brand got me good.

More great content Pete. Great stuff
Love to see it!
You're right about touch and go deads, momentum and bounce add more reps,,, but it's a lot of fun. Stop and go definitely work power much better
I still remember your 600 x 13 deadlift from the basement days, not sure if it was deadstop can’t remember

365 pound bench is really strong.
If you consider your running 6 days of week its more then really good
Pete do you ever get shin splints
I have from time to time, but only when I started running initially.
@@peterubishfitness will you ever do a triathlon maybe even a ironman Pete? I would love to follow the journey

I still love caffeine, but there was one distinct brand that triggered it every time...

Was it caused by the caffeine or the other ingredients in the energy drink ?
Caffeine will not cause cardiac issues for guys in his shape. No way it was that.
Slow methodical approach is pretty hard to apply I never failed to impress myself with how quick I screwed up trying it .

20 rep deadlifts man that is tough
It's gotta be Celcius that he's talking about, never tried it but I've heard dozens of similar stories about it!
Have you ever tried coq10 for blood pressure?

Reading the bible as well, were the same age and used to watch the 2012 lifting videos with the delicious Food reviews too

Stay close to Him
why not do a video or series on how to get in to running for people who get winded after running for like 1 minute
who wants to bet its celsius lol

Was it C4 energy?
441 x 20 doesn’t even make sense!
It felt great! Well, sort of.
It’s similar to the 20 rep squat, it’s a challenge and probably makes you feel thick all over

By chance did you take any vaccine in that past 4 years? Could've been the straw.
He didn’t
