Chaff grenades can erase target locations from the map. The defending team will not know which target has been taken. It also has the effect of jamming radio communications, making it easier to carry the target.

I am seeing it frequently used in the beginning of matches, before the targets could have been taken.
Chaff grenades used early in the game are mostly intended to distract.
Beware of knife attacks while Chaff Grenade is active.
