- Mawphlang Sacred Forest is located around 25 km from Shillong, Meghalaya. Mawphlang when broken into syllable of ‘Maw’ meaning stone and ‘Phlang’ meaning grassy land which fits beautifully for this 800 years old forest that is spread across 192 acre of wilderness.
The forest has been preserved and protected by the inhabitants of Mawphlang over centuries. The forest is full of medicinal plants and it is a place where community rituals are performed. The Lyngdoh Mawphlang is the royal clan in the Mawphlang kingdom and the King & Queen are crowned in this forest. The tribe has been nurturing and protecting the forest through generations.
Here are few details regarding the forest:
A) Entry Fee: Rs. 30 per head
B) Guide Fee (Compulsory):
Half trek (30 min): Rs. 350
Full trek (1 hr 30 min): Rs. 550
C) Parking: 2 Wheeler: Rs 20, 4 Wheeler: Rs 50, Heavy Vehicle: Rs 100

Is there any staying options nearby it
You can stay in Cherrapunjee/Mawmluh. There are many hotels/homestays available. This time we also came across a new property which is just nearby wei sawdong. Its called Cascade Homestay..
