this is the single best grasshopper video i've ever watched. as a visual artist trying to learn computational design through youtube tutorials i've been searching for more foundational lessons and this is the first time i feel like i understand what all of these components and parameters are meant to do. thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Yea I think there is an overwhelming amount of tutorials for Grasshopper, focusing on some foundational concepts will definitely help you more in the long run. If you are interested in the next steps to take after the video above, you could check out our Computational Mindset Primer! www.teknelab.io/computational-mindset-primer
Thanks for sharing mindset..i started like you grasshopper in 2010 and have been blocked how to having computational mindset, rather than watching so many toturials during so many years.now i Can bring all m'y knowledge to depth thanks to yr webinar.
That's great to hear! Yes, I see a lot of 'tutorial' videos out there, but not enough sharing the fundamentals to learning in the correct way. Glad you can start to apply some of the concepts!
Hi Jak, First of all, thank you so much for sharing what every designer should learn. I have been using rhino and grasshopper for several years in jewelry design and I am reaching the stage where I realize that the tools has taken on greater importance than the project itself. I also think that a project comes to life and takes shape first on a sheet of paper and next is the use of all those fabulous tools. I love this idea of going back to the source. Thank you for thinking... Bernhard
'The tool has taken on greater importance than the project..' that's a really interesting/eloquent way of putting it, I may use that if you don't mind Bernhard ;)! Also, you are absolutely correct by referring to them as tools, we are still designers; how we think and sketch and develop ideas is really just augmented and enhanced when we develop them with advanced tools like Grasshopper.
This is a great webinar and addresses a more fundamental principle to working in Grasshopper than surface level tutorials can address. The mindset and thought process is not something that I've seen addressed by any other person, group, or tutorial... free or paid for. Thank you for diving deeper and providing people with a solid foundation for success in this realm!
Glad you enjoyed it Jemima! If you want to get the freebies that we gave along with this make sure to sign up to our platform - www.teknelab.io/computational-mindset-webinar
I have a additional question, I realized there's fine distinctions between groups of scripts in each section which was drawn by simple line and rectangle, can you tell me how I can apply the same to my grasshopper environment?
You're very welcome Behnam! And for your question - this boundary is created by a custom plugin we are developing to help with a higher level organization of our GH scripts. More info will be released on this in the next few months!

excellent webinar.
Thanks a lot Jordan! Are you using Grasshopper?
This is super interesting Thank you
Thanks Valentin! Are you using Grasshopper?
Very helpful and fundamental!
this is going to be my bible of parametric modeling :)
thanks a lot

nothing makes me happy to see your channel growing and well deserved.
trust me this channel will boom. Jak has a very simplified and logical way of teaching.
Thanks a lot guys! Your support means a lot. Let me know if there's anything you'd like to see a video on next!
