First let me say the pros the course curriculum will be so simple and you will have just 4hrs of class rest u will have free hrs.....I If you thought of scoring more marks and cgpa this course will help you....then if you were interested to join IIT for right now it's easy bcz u have less competition....if you look for stress free job then u can choose... still few are there

and now cons:- the curriculum is mostly theory oriented..very less practical.... Every thing is data dependent...the independent work is questionable and job roles in private sector as of now for ug student is analyst where u will digitize the building and other survey data or u will network planning for roads metro EB etc and the pathetic thing is most were low paying comparing to others In govt sector they use civil and other departments students for gis based work even in the notification it's very rare of hiring geo informatics candidates...In isro u will work in role which is very much little compare to others i think it's jrf role....yaa this course will surely pay you but not kind of computer and other engineers that too in india if you are a boy then you will be asked to go for survey in your work place.... and politics in the college will impact your life and exams right now hardly there are few most used software in this field if you could excell that that's it the course and really I'm saying if one studies this with full concentration one can finish this course in3-6 months... Maybe this is a futuristic course but right now think more to get in....some says u have future in abroad yaa but compare all other fields with these u will feel it low....most ppl starts to run start-ups and work on government projects.... the thing is only few were happy with this course rest all and one who is so ambitious just feel pity for studying this and sir here told about hydrology and disaster management those things u can find in your Pg for which you can study civil or other environmental courses too.... Mostly this course is for infrastructure development.... and even the students from CEG has the same mentality there is a separate building IRS in ceg campus they feel like they get seperated from the rest and not even enjoying it's an emerging course from 1960's but still it doesn't have proper recognition even in abroad the job roles entirely will be below 1000.... And I still regret for choosing this course bcz i can't find the better ways and lack of guidance... and the most pathetic thing is most of the gis roles like urban planning are carried out by b arch students and some work were carried out by other stream engg students and I got my internship in one of the industrial corporation there they hire orphan and physically challenged students for 500 and 1000 income for the gis roles.... The thing is think wisely before joining the course it's not for all.... and one more there were around 60 or more students finish mtech in remote sensing from CEG alone but still in my clg only one faculty has mtech in remote sensing... I still have question why not others and I don't want to talk much as you know.... I think I stated all but idk what i left maybe I could... and say this bcz students who choose this course weren't that aware....So think wisely
