For the dogs that we have outlived, when we put them in their resting spot, I pick whatever my favorite winter jacket at the time is to wrap them in, somehow thinking it will keep them warm and secure as it had me. Many a jacket has left me but with good faith for a safe and peaceful journey. Then I plant a bulb to show that life begins anew from the cycle. I miss them all. I wish you and yours well.

I've lost several dogs and birds that were with me long long time. my dogs two of which I handraised little sisters along with our Parson Russell and Dachshund all passed in my arms in less than two years. I miss them terribly. I understand what you mean about the river. it makes happy too. you're doing great job with your lively lovely home place.

Really moving story. Wishing you strength during this time of loss. I lost my dad about 3 years ago and he loved watching butterflies in his flower garden. A few days after his death I was outside walking at a local nature trail to think and 3 separate times a swarm of butterflies flew around me and landed on me and next to me. I like to think it was my dad telling me to continue to see the beauty all around me when I feel down. Wishing your family strength during this time.

Kyle, your description of the leaves appearing this year was so right on! I live on a river and look out my window at lots of trees. The buds and tiny leaflets were a happy sight, then the heat hit and suddenly all the trees were fully leafed out! (I live not that far from you) The trees with all the leaves makes me feel Summer has well and truly arrived! Flowers were a bit early, too. We have a gorgeous Frederick Law Olmstead park here dedicated mostly to lilacs. They were abloom early too. Happy Summer to you and Ally! x Darcy PS. those stone steps are rockin! We lost, or should I say, another realm gained, my Grandpa Johnson in 2013. He was 96. He taught us so much. Two things that automatically come to mind: first: don't ever apologize for asking someone to do their job/never create the situation where someone has to ask you to do yours. Two: a long life may not be good enough, but a good life is long enough. He put himself through electronics school via a correspondence course @ TN tech after losing my grandmother in '68. Supported 3 teenagers by opening his own radio & tv repair shop then pulling a pension from the IBEW in the late '80s. He gives me such pride to know such tenacity runs through my veins. I admire both you and Ally's perseverance and respect for each other and our earth. Hubs and I are continuing to grow more minimalistic and employing more conservative and earth-respecting options as we move into our next chapter. You've given us great options we'll implement & building on. You're a good one. ~Thanks for inviting us on your journey 😊

I miss Massachusetts. I grew up there but I never really had a chance to experience it like this. One day I’ll move there myself and experience this and more. I have ordered one of you ‘dad hats’ (my son is buying it for me for Father’s Day 19th June) and it’s due around the actual day itself so I can’t wait 😊 and I’m excited to see if anyone stops me in the UK here that knows where the hat comes from.
