This is why I LOVE retailers like JetPens and GouletPens... they actually provide useful and informative support content for their products! Just got my replacement nib and wasn't sure if it was screw-in or snap-in and didn't want to mess it up. Thanks JetPens for the video!
This vid is a lifesaver! I was so bummed out thinking I bought the wrong nib type for my skyline, turns out I had to remove the nib & feed from their collar in order to fit them into the pen. Wouldn't have figured it out otherwise. Thank you so much! 🥰
So useful. Thank you! One of kaweco’s plastic pens hurt my fingers around the threads in ways the AL doesn’t for some strange reason. Ever since I’ve shied away from plastic ones but am tempted by some of their cheerful colours. I think other than attempting to satisfy my curiosity with their frost range, I might stick to the metal range from now on. Especially after seeing the differences in nib changing between them. Thanks for this!
Thank you for this video. I could not figure out how to put my new nib unit into my Kaweco Sport, plastic. This showed me how to do it, and made me realize that I should keep the extra nib sheath, in case I put it in a metal Kaweco sport later.
I bought a brass sport recently. I waned to use Platinum carbon black ink but they said it could be expensive if the nib becomes blocked. If it's just a matter of swapping nib and feed I can (now) do it myself for just 25 AUD. The ink I'm using is pretty but is totally unreadable after wetting. Even quink is better.
Man the universe is weird sometimes. I just found this video after thinking I'd ruined my nib after leaving Carbon Black to dry in it. It took a little forceful persuasion to get the nib and feed out of the collar, but a quick scrub with a metal-straw brush and it's back to perfect working order! No need to buy anything new even :D
This video saved a nib I let dry out with Platinum's Carbon Black. I used their cleaning solution on it and would get flakes out, but even when no more came out it wrote extremely inconsistently. If I'd know you can just take them to bits that would have saved an hour of work! I used the pot holder trick to get it unstuck from the collar and a straw brush with fine bristles was all it took to mechanically clear the capillary channels! I was ready to call it a completely lost cause and buy a new one when I saw the how to instructions for a plastic bodied pen. Those Germans sure know how to make things last. Now I would feel confident buying the $150 actual gold nib. Still no way of justifying that money on a nib though xD
When you were replacing the nib for the Classic at 2:10, the nib came out 1st then the feed. How can I ensure that I've placed the nib on top of the feed correctly? Is there a mark or line on the feed showing how far to put the nib forward on the feed? I don't want to make a mistake and possibly destroy my new nib. Also, can the Kaweco replacement nib fit Moonman fountain pens? Thanks.
Hi there! There should be a slightly raised section on the feed where the nib will stop. You will want to place the nib as far up as this raised section (you won't be able to push it further up). Unfortunately Kaweco replacement nibs will not fit Moonman fountain pens. On our site, you can see what products are compatible with Kaweco nibs. For example, on this product page, if you click "Compatible Products" above the description, you'll be able to see what fountain pens/accessories can fit it: www.jetpens.com/Kaweco-Fountain-Pen-Replacement-Nib-060-Gold-Broad/pd/10584 We hope that helps!
Nice review ! My question is, can you change out the nib of Perkeo with Kaweco caligraphy nib ? With or without the feed ? I've heard of some doubts about it.
Do the new Kaweco metal bodied pens no longer come with the screw-out feeds? I recently got a Steel and an AL and both of them have come with pull out nibs as opposed to my older Brass and AL Sports which came with the screw-out nib feeds, and was pretty disappointed. The new metal bodied pens also have a plastic collar pre-installed into the section; how can this collar be removed from the section?
Hi there! The collars on plastic Kaweco Sports are friction fit. You can pull them off. If you're having a little trouble, try to use a small piece of grippy material to help you. You can also try wiggling the nib and feed gently from side to side in order to pull it from the collar.
Hi there! Yes you can, although we recommend sticking to Kaweco's calligraphy nibs: www.jetpens.com/blog/how-to-swap-kaweco-sport-fountain-pen-nibs/pt/960#Compatible%20Replacement%20Nibs%20For%20the%20Kaweco%20Sport
I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but the calligraphy (1.1 stub) Kaweco nib that I bought absolutely does not separate from its collar. Additionally, trying to get the existing nib and feed out somehow damaged the back end, such that no cartridge or converter will click onto it. So now I have a totally unusable pen and an unecessarily spare nib, and Kaweco USA says they can't sell me a replacement grip section. 😭
Did you try installing a cartridge into the pen or replacement nib unit? The ink lubricates the nib and feed and makes it much easier to pull out. Be careful, though-this technique is messy. We recommend wearing gloves and laying down paper towels to prevent ink stains.
@@JetPens We did all of that - we tried the slight twisting as recommended, with no movement at all. We tried a potholder and a silicon mat - nothing. We then loaded it with a cartridge and waited several minutes - again, nothing. My husband actually temporarily lost feeling in his fingers trying to get this to move. The original nib was a bit difficult to pull out but a slight twisting motion did eventually get results - but we are getting NO movement at all from the replacement one. I even had to prove to my husband it was even the right brand/replacement because it really doesn't seem like it's even supposed to come out.
Sue McCrory - Hi Sue, my comment is about 2 months late and you might not see it, but I have found that a sonic water bath (used for cleaning jewelry) can sometimes help loosen stubborn feeds, especially if you use a little (a drop or two) of dish soap in the bath. A few cycles in the bath and you may find that it pulls out more easily. Good luck.
Ohh, does your narrator (narratress??) have a cold or something? Hope she gets better soon! Love how aesthetic fountain pens are but I’ve only ever used my friend’s platinum preppy :(

GOOD GRIEF THAT WAS EASY. And JetPens didn't take 20 minutes with an unrelated midpoint advertisement, either. Let's hope the TH-cam algorithm doesn't punish them for it.
So if I understand correctly, if I want to have a secondary grip section with a calligraphy nib in it that I can quickly screw onto my navy Classic Sport for occasional use, I have to... -buy a navy grip section with a normal nib in it -pull the nib and feed out of said grip section -chuck the nib and feed -buy a calligraphy nib -pull the calligraphy nib and feed out of the threaded section -chuck the threaded section -put the nib and feed into the empty navy grip section German efficiency at its finest. *ahem*

can I install a 1.1 nib from a kaweco perkeo calligraphy pen into a kaweco al sport pen body ? can you please direct me on how to.
Thanks for great video! I just bought a Perkao, can I interchange the nibs with Sports and AL pens that I have?
Hi there! The Kaweco Perkeo nib is not interchangeable with the Sport nib.
Thanks, that works perfectly for my Sport pens. I just wish they were as easy to change as the Liliput.

Hi, we haven't seen any pens like this yet. It might be better if you reached out to Kaweco directly!
@@JetPens thanks. It turns out that the nib and feed get pulled out of the housing/collar of the metal sports too. I didn’t know that, until now
So does the #6 JOWO nib fit into the Brass Kaweco?
Good I love this system. Everyone should do this. Why is it only in the metals tho
i have the kaweco special brass - i cannot unscrew the collar... is it suipposed to be like this?
Could you please do a Kaweco sport comparison.
Yes, we'll add it to our list!
How do I remove the sleeve inside the grip section?
use a converter or old cartridge to push it, you could push it upward against a table or any hard surface.
What I need to know is how to remove the collar from a plastic Sport so I can clean under it. Please help.
Hi there! The collars on plastic Kaweco Sports are friction fit. You can pull them off. If you're having a little trouble, try to use a small piece of grippy material to help you. You can also try wiggling the nib and feed gently from side to side in order to pull it from the collar.

My Kaweco Sport have been leaking around the nib after replacement. I don’t know why because it seems it was installed correctly.

I’ve tried all these suggestions and cannot get the feed and nib out of the replacement to save my life. What can I do?
