Way different now compared to when I raced LMSC in the mid-late 90's. Engines were all custom with 6.250" rods, cast iron bowtie heads, performer intake with a 350cfm 2 barrel. A very good hp number was 358.

Just one example: If the cars tour group was gonna run twins at Hickory, would the 20 lap tire rule apply like it does to the weekly group? Can you do anything different to the chassis etc? Dart aluminum heads crane cam and edelbrock intake. We also had a 650cfm limit. Total cost, parts and machining would be around $6,500 bucks. I real engine professional build and dyno tuned was around 12k.

Hey Landon quick question about the triple disc clutch setup.. I recently installed a triple disc on our prolate model and followed the instructions to the letter but when we fired it up we keep getting a knocking sound inside the Belllhousing..any ideas? Love the content
If you do a video on the crate motor cost, include what it costs to buy from GM plus what it costs to have it Blue printed by an Authorized Engine Builder
You forgot a few things including headers, y-pipe, muffler and motor mounts (offset, straight up, etc). Headers are a big deal, depending on ride height rule (does exhaust count to ride height), above bellhousing crossover (looks like yours are not) or straight back, with lower crossover, etc. Headers sizing is another big rule issue, I.e; 1 ⅝ or step headers 1 ⅝ stepped to 1 ¾ or 1 ¾ complete , or if Tri-Y legal or not.
Well it is way less than the spec engines they use now in the USMTS series which I believe are around $25,000.00 to $30,000.00. Now the Nascar B mods are around $14,000.00 to $15,000.00. Which I believe the lap count is 1200 to 1300 laps for either one. (Of course, racing on dirt the engine builders don't want the laps going much past that lap of 1200 to 1300 laps)
Yeah some these asphalt guys heads would explode if they knew what we’re spending on top level dirt engines. Heck we’re spending more on engines for classes considered beginner classes than they’re spending on engines for there top level classes apparently ( for those that don’t know for a competitive dirt latemodel engine you’re spending as much to refresh it every 1250-1500 laps as he has in his entire engine)
Yup. I do my own engine work on my b mod and it's a little disheartening knowing you're going up against guys who are spending 15k plus on a motor. Even a new 602 crate is going for North of 6k these days. If more people worked on their own stuff instead of just spending more money the sport would be better for it

@@broersmaracing8295 uhm the car in the video is 500lbs+ heavier than a ump mod which top cars are hitting 800hp+ now and 700lbs+ on a dirt latemodel which are making 900hp+ now But asphalt are still on suspension technology stuff that hasn’t been competitive on top level of dirt for 15-20yrs (dead serious)
What sucks is the outlay for the price of the car engine and everything you need to go racing is a lot of money for what you get paid by your track you race at

I paid $5600 for my crate completely fresh. No flywheel and back half, with pulleys, water pump and fuel pump

Its asphalt cars are super light gotta get it to ground without spinning the tires unlike dirt
