Ok wait, after watching the Reload Version, I have to say - THIS version is so amazingly effective in highlighting the urgency, shock, and the "oh shit this is happening rn!?" feeling in the situation. While the 3D Version highlights the sadness of the whole thing, the creeping grief and the "no no no please don't go yet" feeling. In my opinion lol.
Admittedly, theme wise, I prefer reload. Shinji’s death felt more like he got to do it on his own terms there, while being surrounded by his teammates and friends, rather than walking into the spotlight right after. Plus, Reload really sold the ‘yeah, I’m probably gonna be gone in a few months anyways’ thing.
I feel for most part Reload did this scene better the only thing I wish they kept from FES is Shinji walking away to his death as it shows his character better and that he was never truly a SEES member up until the end.
I maxed his SL with the female MC and saved him, because well, he's pure awesomeness. even though he dies everywhere else... PSP saved me the trouble :)

Chunky Tubs no matter how much it hurts, I prefer the PS2 version. Shinjiro is a selfless dude That saves his friends, even if it cost his life. Saving him would feels too soft for the story and the theme of this game.

The dark hour has JUST ended after the group just got there meaning no personas and unnatural resistances thus the gun wounds stayed and were lethal. The light in the light post some what confirms this theory as electronics don't normally function during the dark hour.
I have to say, I like this version of Shinjiro’s death better than the one in Reload. I get it, Reload’s is more realistic or faithful to the movies, but this gives a Cu Chulainn-like epic final moments to Shinji.
Reload is far better IMO. This one isn't bad but Shinji dying in Aki's arms just gave way more feels and Shinji petting Koro along with Koro howling at his death was a clincher for immediate tears, to say nothing of the vastly improved voice acting and production quality.

Can I just say, I was about to use my stat modifiers on Aragaki, but withheld from doing so? I wanted to pump his Strength and Defense through the roof, but just didn’t cuz I’ve been debating using the incenses on my party or my character’s personas (for NG+ Personas in the compendium)

Tanrahk12 i do not understand why you do not understand this... when we are exploring tartarus, and someone 'dies' they just get knocked unconscious. so they can be revived with a spell or an item. Unfortunately, in Shinjiro's case, he really died so there was nothing we could do.
The fact that it even shocked the blank slate of a character that is Makoto is actually nutso He really does have emotion when you're not dictating his every move
Simply the reason why revival/healing items or magic didnt work, is because of the fact that the dark hour ended just as he died; and as such they were unable to revive him in time. this is seen in the movie & how the spotlight at 1:25 is turned on, signifying that electronics are on.
is not like party members are dead more likely inconceus because in the canon they never will fall or ever use "items" , they win , maybe damaged but winners at all
Also there is a gap between plot and gameplay. When a party member dies in battle he’s most likely just unconscious and far from death since persona have great healing abilities. When all the members are ko you’re simply finished because you cannot fight back in the enemy territory and shadows don’t make any prisoners. When the leader dies it’s also like that because it’s implied they cannot handle any fight without you. Which considering you’re the wild card isn’t too bad in my opinion: you’re always the strongest asset and the entire strategy is on your shoulders (in the first 3 Persona games since you’re not the wild card and everyone has around the same strength overall you can let the main character die and revive him no problem) In every single death in the persona series there are no light wounds to heal but lethal ones that knock you down in a few seconds (in P2 there’s even a scene where they try to heal a character with healing abilities but the wound was too lethal to recover from and the character lost too blood). From the plot prospective the damage you take in battle is nowhere near that (the HP bar is more representative of your ability to fight back than anything else).

He gave everything for Ken and redeem his mistakes. You're finally in peace, Shinji. Like a Good Person. I'll never let him out from my Persona Q Party. This is actually one of the few scenes that I think Reload does a lot better. I miss the quick camera shots and cinematography from FES, but Shinji falling over Ken, dying in Akihiko's arms, and the party properly reacting felt more impactful to me. Bonus points for removing "Cmon kid, you're just a kid" lmao. I could do without Koromaru howling though, that was unnecessary. Tho It's a shame that Reload scuffed Aki's ultimate awakening :/

I can only assume that there's supplementary material saying that revolver Jesus has some kind of Jesus revolver that does the same thing.
Nah that didn't happen the only excuse i can think of is that all of the healers were too drained from the fortune/strength fight and spells like recalm don't reserect the dead but only wake up knocked out people based off of if someone is taken out in tartarus and aren't Recalmed they still live

@@dinisb Evokers can be used outside of the dark hour, it's not like Persona 4 and 5 were they can only use their powers in the mental world, IIRC Chidori and Fuuka both do it in game and in the arena games they mention that in the TV they don't need the evokers like they do in real world, long after the dark hour was gone

Cut scenes are almost nothing, they took out the entire overworld I would think they had enough space. Especially when kingdom hearts ran on it beautifully, cut scenes and all.
they would have had to redo all the cutscenes with the mc in them to have a version with the female protagonist. that's probably the main reason they got rid of them.

He dies from the pills anyways. Takaya was right about Shinjiro dying either way. He really had no choice. I like this better because it shows their reactions to the whole thing head-on. It’s more emotional and creates a better scene why Ken and Akihiko are most affected by it and the result of their evolutions of Personas.

idk how Reload decided to spend their anime budget, why they dedicated a scene to everyone getting their new SEES outfits and not this. Also why Koromaru had to join in howling at the end when this was really Ken's scene. Felt kind of cheesy. i'm still enjoying the remake but it's just the little things, yknow
That’s exactly how I feel about Reload: the little things just don’t hit as well for me. Like it bothered me that the Persona awakenings after this event were happening on a black screen instead of the overworld. That took me out of the moments quite a bit. I love having my character models and areas look prettier, but I still think I prefer FES overall.
I'm gonna be honest guys. I really don't get why anyone would prefer the FES version over Reload or the movies. Reload's version was miles better in almost every way. Koro's howling only improved the scene imo. Everyone other than Ken and Shinji just kinda stand there, barely giving a reaction. Also, the actual moment Takaya shot Ken isn't even shown here. Reload actually gives us a few shots showing Ken's realization.
Could it be that I was the only one who didn't feel any emotional attachment to the scene, and about Shinji's death? Well, I have a habit of farming a lot in games, so I never really needed my team, I can get through Tartarus alone, and in Full Moon bosses I only used the other characters on the team because I had to, in short, I only created bonds with characters that I wanted and found interesting, and Shinji wasn't one of them.
As much as it pains me to say it, Sunshine Child Nanako should've stayed dead for the characters to have more drive and development because of the events of the Heaven Arc.
Just got to this point in the game. It was sad but on the other hand I really didn't care. Never used him in my party and we really didn't have much interactions in the game with him before hand. Maybe I'm just heartless? D:

Diarama is a healing spell, so really they could have saved Shinjiro.

He dies from the pills anyways. Takaya was right about Shinjiro dying either way. He really had no choice. I like this better because it shows their reactions to the whole thing head-on. It’s more emotional and creates a better scene why Ken and Akihiko are most affected by it and the result of their evolutions of Personas.

idk how Reload decided to spend their anime budget, why they dedicated a scene to everyone getting their new SEES outfits and not this.
Also why Koromaru had to join in howling at the end when this was really Ken's scene. Felt kind of cheesy.

That’s exactly how I feel about Reload: the little things just don’t hit as well for me. Like it bothered me that the Persona awakenings after this event were happening on a black screen instead of the overworld. That took me out of the moments quite a bit. I love having my character models and areas look prettier, but I still think I prefer FES overall.

I'm gonna be honest guys. I really don't get why anyone would prefer the FES version over Reload or the movies. Reload's version was miles better in almost every way.
Koro's howling only improved the scene imo. Everyone other than Ken and Shinji just kinda stand there, barely giving a reaction. Also, the actual moment Takaya shot Ken isn't even shown here. Reload actually gives us a few shots showing Ken's realization.
i don't think it would have helped his overall situation since Shinjiro already dying from the drugs he's been getting from Strega :c

Could it be that I was the only one who didn't feel any emotional attachment to the scene, and about Shinji's death? Well, I have a habit of farming a lot in games, so I never really needed my team, I can get through Tartarus alone, and in Full Moon bosses I only used the other characters on the team because I had to, in short, I only created bonds with characters that I wanted and found interesting, and Shinji wasn't one of them.
P4 is a good game but there is no consequence for anything at the end of the game.
As much as it pains me to say it, Sunshine Child Nanako should've stayed dead for the characters to have more drive and development because of the events of the Heaven Arc.
Just got to this point in the game. It was sad but on the other hand I really didn't care. Never used him in my party and we really didn't have much interactions in the game with him before hand. Maybe I'm just heartless? D:
Man, the only reason I'm so lenient on Ken's voice actor is because it's compared against Fuuka and Natsuki. She has a voice that ruins any situation.
