      It is hard to say for sure. Mine 2 knees were only done 6 months apart and they seemed a little different in their healing. But 7 years would be a lot of differences I would think. Probably different technology on the joints too. The doctor told me if I had mine done 10 or 15 years before I did that those joints would have only lasted me about 7 to 10 years with my weight and all but with these newer joints they would go 20 years. No telling where technology will have these things in 20 more years. Hope you are doing well with your recovery.

    ARE YOU STILL IN PAIN

    • @GaryForgingOn
      @GaryForgingOn  หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, But it has been 2 years now. My knees are working great. I had both replaced in 2022 and it probably took a year or more to be fully healed but now I can walk and go anywhere with ease.

    Don’t assume pain will be bad. I had a knee revision 3 months ago (a revision is where a previous worn out knee replacement is replaced with a new replacement). I had mild pain for 1 week nothing serious and then the pain went ie pain free. Everyone is different pain may not be serious

    I'm at week 11 and still having pain pain at night. I am back to work and do asphalt for a livi'm on driveways and parking a lot of swelling from that. I find that my knee getsometimes. I feel like my week 8 and 9 was better than now. But that's because they're telling me I'm back to work anyway. My question to you at week 11. What was your pain level like? Did you have a lot of soreness and stiffness though let's go and what was your range of motion? I can get to 122 on my own but painful still . The therapist can get me to 126 when he does it which is even more pain . I keep telling me to keep doing rehab and eventually everything will calm down and you're pain level will be almost 0 they're predicting I should be. Able to ban my knee at one 122 -125 . With no pain ... Again i'm only on week eleven what's your thoughts thank you

      You have a ways to go on the recovery so don't get discouraged. Mine was sore and stiff for most of the year. But it kept getting a little better over time. The doc told me the swelling and healing will take a year. And he was right. Your range sounds good but it will be sore and stiff for a while still. Sounds like you are doing good but you will have swelling from the work for a while longer. Sorry to say that but I don't want you thinking it will go away soon. Ice is some when you can. My right knee is now 13 months and doing really good but there are times when it still gets a bit sore. Just not that bone-on-bone pain from before. The left knee is about 7 months or more and it still hurts going up and down stairs but it is getting there. Hang in there and just try to ice when you can. I thought my swelling had gone down by 12 weeks but it kept going down for months afterwards. It just takes time. I hope and pray you do well and get some relief soon.

    Did your doctor use the mayco machine to preform your knee surgery?

    • @GaryForgingOn
      @GaryForgingOn  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not sure what that machine is. Is it used during a surgery or one of those knee bending machines for after surgery? I know I did not have one of those after surgery bending machines. I am afraid I have no idea what he used during surgery.

    • @GaryForgingOn
      @GaryForgingOn  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It gets better. I thought at even 12 weeks it seemed sore but now that my first knee has been over a year now and my second knee is almost a year I can say it took close to a year for all the little pains and soreness's to go away. But the more I use them and work them the better they get. You will get there and you will be glad you had it done. Hang in there.

    Glad you are doing well ..how can you face yet another surgery?I suppose if you desperately need another knee replacement that's the deciding factor ..here in UK if one dosent have enough money ...that's me !!! It's a case of waiting on a longish waiting list ...I've not had my right hip replacement yet as private physio said wait 4 years as I'm quite young..now at age 66 I've joint pain everywhere ,my hip is least of my worry ..I feel like not doing it ..it's easier making a decision to get the op if you are really bad with severe osteoarthritis...

    • @GaryForgingOn
      @GaryForgingOn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know how that joint pain can hurt. My knee got messed up in a motorcycle accident back in the early 1980s. My hip got jammed real bad in the 2000s. The doc said you feel hip problems in your knees too. So they wanted to do the hip first for 2 reasons. 1) it removes that pain from my knee so I am not thinking a new knee still hurts. 2) it is easier to rehab the knee surgery with a good moving hip.
      I am 62 now and had the hip done 2 years ago. But I was twisting and limping so back that my right leg was half the size of my left from lack of use.
      I hope you can get fixed up well.
      My doctor told me that a doctor friend of his did joint replacements in northwest US. And 2 days a week he does Canadians that don't want to wait for years and pays cash. I think mine hip was about 17,000 or 18,000 for everything . The insurance paid most of it. Our insurance stuff is weird here. No one pays what they charge. they only pay a negotiated rate with Ins companies. I think they charged about 80,000 but only got paid 17 . The rest is just written off. No idea why.

    What is your pain level on a scale fro 1-10 and do you still take ant pain meds?

    • @GaryForgingOn
      @GaryForgingOn  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hello Liz, this video was from my first knee in March so that has been about 9 months now. There is still a little soreness but not more than a 1 or 2 at times. The Doctor told me that it will still be healing up to a year after surgery. My second knee I had replaced in Sept and it still gets sore on stairs and a little sore walking and standing a lot on it. On stairs I would say maybe a 3 or so but less most of the time. But it is a lot newer. When I am using them a lot and they get sore I will take 3 or 4 ibuprofen at night before I go to be just so they don't keep me awake but other than that I am not using pain meds. The first knee I was on pain meds for 2 weeks or so and the second knee I was on them for about 4 weeks. Then I just went to ibuprofen and usually at night. I hope that helps. If not just let me know I will try to answer to how I went through it. I know it is a little different for everybody but I will tell you my experience. Gary

      Thanks for watching. I was so nervous before mine too. Just didn't know what to expect. I remember waking up and thinking, This doesn't hurt so much... Then the nerve block wore off. haha. All I can say is to use that ice machine and take those meds. The therapy hurts but it's needed. They did wonderful for me but it was a lot of gritting my teeth and just doing it. I am not going to say it doesn't hurt. But you get past it and now I can walk more and more. I had that first one in March and then I had the second knee replaced in Sept so I am still getting over that second knee. It is sore but the first one is doing a lot better. And I can walk normal and longer now. The metal clicking is a bit weird too from the metal knee but as the swelling goes down it is like it tightens up and does not click as much. Let me know if I can answer any questions. Thanks again for watching the videos. I did it to try to help others so I am glad it helps some.
