Alaska truly is a land like no other - a place where the raw beauty of nature collides with untouched wilderness, leaving you breathless at every turn. From the towering peaks of Denali to the serene, glacier-filled landscapes of Juneau, every corner of this vast frontier offers something magical. Imagine walking through ancient rainforests, locking eyes with majestic Kodiak bears, or hearing the haunting calls of whales echo across turquoise waters. Alaska's charm isn't just in its scenery-it's in the wild, untamed spirit that beckons the adventurer in all of us. This is more than a trip; it’s a journey into the heart of the wild!

I went to Alaska in 2002 .... The views are something else. The cruise ship I was on went to Glacier Bay and was next to a huge Glacier, that had huge pieces falling off. What a sight. This Glacier was so big that it made the ship seem small, even though it carried 2000 passengers and 700 crew members...

Alaska has more than 130 volcanoes, including 50 that have been active since 1760.
Alaska has 3 million lakes, including Lake Iliamna, the eighth-largest lake in the US by area.
Alaska has an estimated 100,000 glaciers, which cover about 3% of the state. The largest glacier is the Bering Glacier, which covers about 1,900 square miles.
Alaska is the only state in the US with coastlines on the Arctic Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and Bering Sea.
Dog mushing is Alaska's state sport, and the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race is Alaska's biggest sporting event.

I've just come back from BC and Yukon, and I'm already preparing and planning for a trip through Alaska, Yukon and Northwest BC in 2026. Though I won't be able to see all of Alaska, I will be seeing huge parts of it. This video has unleashed so many extra routes and ideas that I may have to extend my vacation to 5 weeks, if I can.
Kenai, Denali, Fairbanks and Valdez are definitely on the list of places to go, focusing on places that are accessible by motorhome.
Though I won't be able to get the same views this fantastic video shows, I'll have to do a lot of hiking to get some of them.
    Great work!

I lived in Juneau for 3 years. An entire video could be made on the natural beauty around Juneau. At the time I lived there, there was a booklet on hiking trails around the area. My husband and I went on several hikes. Some were to glaciers, some to mines, some through the forest. Douglas Island had several great viewpoints from which to see Mendenhall Glacier and cruise ships over on the mainland. One of the best tips shared with me was how to spot eagles resting in the trees. Look for their white heads and tails. They stand out like a beacon to draw your attention.

Thank you so much for sharing your experiences in Juneau! It’s wonderful to hear about the natural beauty you explored, from glaciers to forests, and the remarkable views from Douglas Island. Your tip on spotting eagles by their white heads and tails is invaluable and adds a new layer of appreciation for the wildlife there. I’m grateful for your insights and thrilled to know Juneau left such a memorable impression on you.

@@tripinsight.travel It has been more than 30 years since we transferred out but as I recall, Juneau “tennies” (rubber boots) were required for the golf course and the only time you could play the back 9 was during low tide. Ravens truly surprised me. They were knee high and fun to watch. We went to McDonald’s for lunch one day and the ravens were sitting on the edge of the roof hoping for scraps to be shared. There was snow on the ground and they would fly down and walk in the tire tracks instead of walking in 6 inches of snow. And the cars would have to go at the pace a raven hopped so you wouldn’t hit them. We loved it so much, my husband almost got out of the Coast Guard so we could stay there.
In Kodiak, there were only 9 holes to the golf course but the bears were allowed to play through if they came along. There was one tree on the way into town from the base that would be filled with eagles in the winter so they could watch for salmon swimming in. They would also sit on picnic tables and the ground near the base exchange watching for small fishing boats to come in. There was a place set up where the fishermen could clean and gut their catch. On occasion, there would also be sea otters watching for the scraps and getting to them before the eagles.
Another favorite town of ours was Homer where you could catch the ferry to Kodiak.

Just an FYI most of the shots in this video in Katmai National Park are not from the park. There are no black bears at all inside Katmai Ntl. Park so all those black bears you see are from somewhere else. I know this as I spend the summers working in the park as a sport fishing guide and one of the programs we run is at Brooks Falls.

Alaska is 4 times the size of California,, I ve been there once but far from enough to cover even 20% of it,,, I need to go back there at least 4 more visit and each visit at least spend 4 weeks to explore deep inland and stretch far north to the arctic coast,,in order to cover perhaps only half of it,,, WHAT ??? only HALF ???? Yep,,,, half is nearly as big as both Texas and California combine,,,,,
