How did you score it yourself, slowing it down? Just do what I did; order the Riverdance official sheet music book! It is actually worth it if you like the music from the show and want to play it. Depending on your instrument of choice (I play fiddle & whistle)… ‘Andalucía’ is in the book, as well. However, reading the official music may confuse you even more! I’ve been studying the music from the show for twenty years (since high school)-And while I can play quite a bit of it, it still, to this day, confuses me!! I still can’t play the whole show, even after all this time! The book is a useful tool, though. Not too expensive. Seeing the printed music also really shows Bill Whelan’s style as a composer. It also proves to you that most of the show was written on piano, if not ALL of it… so depending on one’s instrument, it may take some tweaking and adjusting from the sheet music. Certain ornamentations on the fiddle, like rolls, bowed triplets, double stops, etc. aren’t notated and are up to the player. Piano can only do so much, and Bill clearly made it extremely “notey”.
What instrument do you play? After having the book all these years, and using the app Amazing Slow Downer, I can play- -Chronos Reel/Reel Around the Sun -Countess Cathleen/Women of the Sidhe -Firedance (written in 7/8 but it changes) -Riverdance (not the final part! The easiest of all haha) -American Wake/Nova Scotia Set (always wondered why it’s called Nova Scotia Set, if it’s a polka they’re playing. Not really common in Scots Gaelic or Nova Scotian music traditions) -The Russian Dervish / Marta’s dance (written in 15/16 time!) There is a lot of music to be learnt from this show. Much of it is very technical…and suited for piano!!
It is not Irish Zach Brenneman. It's a Spanish tune, representing Spain & Spanish dance/culture. Specifically the Flamenco dance. As you would know, Spain & Ireland go way back in the history books & many Irish people carry Spanish DNA. So lovely!
@@INTUITIVENORSK2303 Indeed, it does represent Spanish dance, but the wonderful thing about it is how Bill Whelan infuses it with an Irish flavor, and to that end, makes the listener appreciate how closely related music (and people) can be, without necessarily realizing it.
I would like Bill Whelan to get to know I made a video-tribute for some current heroes around the world with his piece "Some mother´s son" that is written in my description. :) th-cam.com/video/KREJOWGWYN8/w-d-xo.html
Technically it could be considered Irish as it was composed on the piano by Bill Whelan… just like the entire Riverdance show, lol. So is it Irish? Is it Andalusian? Who knows!
this song has awed me for 20 years
La performance de mon enfance, elle me donne envie de danser, tourner et exprimer toute la passion de mon existence encore aujourd'hui !
The music is incredible!!!
I grew up with Riverdance on VHS. This evening this song popped into my head, and it's just as good as I remember it.
I've seen every Riverdance show on PBS..I was hooked.
A sequence before this one was blocked for USA viewing. What a shame, this show is gorgeous.
Ola!!! So beautiful!! A small, yet lovely part of my ancestry. Spanish blood. :-)
One of my all time favorites. Wish it received more attention. I had to score it myself to get the sheet music... trying to learn to play it :)
