  • A community of wives, children and grandchildren of the officers murdered in Katyn, Katyn Families have for many years made a major contribution to the preservation of the memory of the truth concerning the Katyn massacre. The documentary film titled "Katyn - The True Story of a Lie" focuses on how those closest to the murdered accepted the absence of the truth about the crime and how they felt about it over the years. Elaborated by the Polish History Museum and directed by Emil Marat, the film tackles individual helplessness towards official lies as well as attempts at fighting against them discussed by Wanda Rodowicz, a granddaughter of Major Stanisław Rodowicz, Witomiła Wołk-Jezierska, the daughter of the artillery lieutenant Wincenty Wołk, as well as Krystyna Krzyszkowiak and Ryszard Adamczyk, the children of the chief of the Polish police in Sarnaki. The historians Prof. Tadeusz Wolsza and Dr Sebastian Ligarski are at hand to help understand the context of the events discussed.
20 minutes. Poland 2020, produced by the Polish History Museum, directed by Emil Marat

Winners will do anything to protect their glory and morality. The current WWII history has too much lies
If IDF have won instantly on the current war, those Palestinians could end up being described as barbaric terrorists, and none of the Israel's atrocities will be mentioned. The saying "history was written by the victors" didn't exist for no reason

Polish Generals were a European elite, too bright and educated for the Soviet standards. After the Soviet Union signed ally with Poland in 1941, those newly promoted generals who created the Polish Army in USSR were unfortunately lame and totally obeyed Stalin's regime. Rokossowski was an exception, but never betrayed any Soviet secrets connected with Katyn.

Until today, the same methods are used by Kremlin criminals. We have evidence of this in Ukraine, where defenseless civilians are being annihilated by forbidden weapons. The world looks at it exactly the same as it did during World War II. Poland suffered the greatest losses in people and equipment at that time. Then, the second Soviet occupation took place in Poland, which degraded the Poles even more.
The world can no longer see the impunity of the Soviet armies in Ukraine and must stop the criminals in action. Until we apply this, there will be no peace in the world.

Katyn was a pure and brutal Stalin's revenge. Stalin-Poland-Trotsky - a meaningful triangle. Both, Stalin and Trotsky were participating in Russo-Polish war in 1919. And they had a major conflict during this period. The peace treaty was signed in Riga and considering that Poland was part of Russian Empire, for Russia it was a loss of territory. For Stalin every loss was personal. He never forgives. So, he had his revenge against Polish Army in Katyn. And prior to that, he also killed Trotsky in Mexico.
With all grandiosity of these numbers, Ukrainians in that same era, killed way more Poles than were shot at Katyn. But I don't hear much crying about it

@Pat Ludwa I wrote at length about events of 1939. Stalin did what he was forced to do. Western allies denied fighting Germany together. They all collaborated with Hitler and signed all sorts of pacts with him (personally!). Stalin, on the other hand, never had personal contact with Hitler. And Molotov signed a pact with Ribbentrop - the last pact of all pacts. Post war, Stalin recreated Poland as standing country, even though Soviets were allowed % of influence in Poland so they could make it another Soviet Republic.
Polish delegation - Pan Stalin, please give us Lviv. It never was part of Russia

@Pat Ludwa Munich agreement *IS* the agreement by West to give Germany part of Czechoslovakia. And Poland participated in land grab together with Germany. When Hitler came for the rest of it, your fine allies betrayed Czechoslovakia, and then you too.
Great to have internet to stop disinformation. Here what NY Times wrote in 2010
_"Prime Minister Vladimir V. Putin on Wednesday became the *first* Russian or Soviet leader to join Polish officials in commemorating the anniversary of the murder of thousands of Polish officers by the Soviet Union at the beginning of World War II.
Mr. Putin cast the executions as one tragedy out of many wrought by what he called the Soviet Union’s “totalitarian regime.”
“We bow our heads to those who bravely met death here,” Mr. Putin said..."_
Tell me the reason to hear another lies that you promoting here?
PS: under Gorby they started the investigation but only past -USSR they started to move on it.

@Pat Ludwa I can't sell BS because I can provide factual historical information on everything I say. Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was signed practically as soon as Western powers refused joined efforts with USSR, basically leaving USSR to face Germany alone. The "greeting" that you might saw in some documentary, was actually just a business of transferring certain area from Germany to USSR, due to Germany entering territory that pact assigned to USSR. Poland took part of Czechoslovakia and hence de-facto became part of Axis power. I don't understand why historians often dismiss this fact. Read pre-war commintern documents. Poland along with Germany was considered a state-aggressor. In UK it was called hyena. I perfectly understand why you twisting the truth. This is what many do in Poland today. Being anti-Russian is a popular thing. But don't tell me that huge number of people in Poland, Germany, France; all over europe used to be sympathizers of USSR and socialist system they had. (not saying it was good system). But the fact is, its the Polish people and Polish communists ruled Poland with oversight from USSR. And it was Polish army that in 1968 together with Soviets were putting down Czechoslovakian apprising.
Try to deny anything I've said. Show me one thing that is incorrect.

    • @theodorekell

@Pat Ludwa Glorious Red Army... you again propagating a myth that red army was able to do anything. Stalin told Polish not to do this. But UK wanted to have Polish gov. in place before soviets entered Warsaw. This is a well-recorded event. Any beginner military analyst would tell you that Soviets were exhausted and depleted after lengthy Operation Bagration, which lasted 2 months, and logistics were not established after a long march into Poland. They needed to regroup and resupply before taking Warsaw. What do you think, Stalin did not hurry to Berlin? Of course, he needed to get there before Americans. But generals told him, we can't attack before fresh troops arrive. On 22 September Marshal Rokossovski ordered the 1st Polish Army to retreat back over the Vistula. He advised Stalin that the Soviet armies were in no condition to liberate Warsaw and that they needed time to refit and regroup.
Yes, Stalin did not trust Armiya Krayowa because he was getting plenty of intelligence from London. But if he could, he would rather take Poland quickly and get ready to take Berlin.

The first question arises. We talk all the time about the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. We repeat this after our European colleagues. Question: was this the only document signed by one of the European countries, then the Soviet Union, with fascist Germany? It turns out that this is not at all the case. I'll just list them with your permission.
So, the Declaration on the Non-Use of Force between Germany and Poland. This is, in fact, the so-called Pilsudski-Hitler pact. Signed in 1934. In fact, this is a non-aggression pact.
Then - the Anglo-German naval agreement of 1935. Great Britain provided Hitler with the opportunity to have his own military fleet, which was essentially forbidden to him, or reduced to a minimum by the results of the First World War.
Then the joint Anglo-German declaration of Chamberlain and Hitler, signed on September 30, 1938, agreed by them on the initiative of Chamberlain. It stated that "the signed Munich agreement, as well as the Anglo-German maritime agreement symbolize ..." and so on, and so on. The creation of a legal framework between the two states continued.
That's not all. Franco-German Declaration signed on December 6, 1938 in Paris by the French and German Foreign Ministers Bonn and Ribbentrop.
Finally, the agreement between the Republic of Lithuania and the German Reich, signed on March 22, 1939 in Berlin by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and the same Ribbentop, stating that the Klaipeda Territory would again be reunited with the German Reich.
And the Non-Aggression Pact between the German Reich and Latvia of June 7, 1939.
Thus, the Treaty between the Soviet Union and Germany was the last in a series of those signed by other European countries, as it were, interested in preserving peace in Europe. At the same time, I would like to note that the Soviet Union agreed to sign this document only after all possibilities were exhausted and all the proposals of the Soviet Union to create a unified security system, an anti-fascist coalition, in fact, in Europe were rejected.

” We talk all the time about the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. We repeat this after our European colleagues. Question: was this the only document signed by one of the European countries, then the Soviet Union, with fascist Germany?”
YES, It was the only document splitting many other European countries between the ”partners” (Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Romania). The partners knew that part was outrageous, that is why kept it secret. More, USSR denied its existence even after USA found a copy in the captured German archives. Even more, Stalin wrote about Americans as ”falsifiers of history”! Only in 1989's Gorbachev thaw did USSR admit its existence and only in 1992 was the Soviet copy of the shameful document declassified and published.

Which is all BULLSH*T! Like we don't know how did the soviets co-operate for two decades with the German rearmament program. The joint soviet-nazi tank school and factory in Kazan - Soviet-Union, where the first "Panzer" - prototypes were built, where the blueprints for the first German panzers were created (form the Pz I to the Pz. IV) - same school where men like HEINZ GUDERIAAN studied their "trade". Hell! Few like to even remember it but the active principle for the compound later known as "Zyklon-B" in Germany - HCN (common name "Prussic Acid") - was produced in the SAMARA CHEMICAL PLANTS IN THE SOVIET UNION (specifically Tonka and Podosinki). Shall I go on??...because there's TONS of these! :D

The massacre occurred in March 5th 1942 in a POW camp run by Nazis of German national origin about 50 miles away from the Katyn forests. Next the Germans claimed to have discovered the rotting decomposing bodies in April 1943, just over a year later. What is the order number for a Katyn massacre? While Hitler issued very large number of verbal orders ("I am ordering the burning and destruction of Paris. Is Paris burning yet? " is an example of Hitler's oral orders. Half of Hitler's orders were unsigned. Stalin only issued signed orders which first went to the desks of politburo members. Gorby did great damage to Soviet relations to the west : he says he found records that three Soviet prisoners of war camp in a German POW camp had killed about 100 soldiers each. Gorby says he read records, where the reaord says that three Soviet POW soldiers were coersed to kill Polish prisoners. The three had killed 100 Polish fellow prisoners of war in March 5 1942, while the remainder of 15000 Polish, or 14,700 men of Polish national origin were killed by Nazi Germans of German national origin. What is the order number for a Katyn massacre? What Soviet archives had uncovered was that three Soviet prisoners of war had been coerced by the Nazi invaders to shoot about 300 prisoners of war of Polish national origin. While Hitler issued very large number of verbal orders ("I am ordering the burning and destruction of Paris. Is Paris burning yet? " is an example of Hitler's , Stalin only issued signed orders. Stalin never issued unsigned orders, never oral orders. There is no order number for a Katyn massacre. Either three Soviet soldiers or many German officers had killed the 15,000 Polish prisoners of war, as claimed by the Soviet prisoners of war under German control, who were soldiers and the Germans killed the Polish officers. The pistols and handguns used in the killing of surrendered Polish military officers were the Walther P38, a standard issue of officers of the Third Reich and Nazi military officers. The investigations were by Soviet investigators who overran the Katyn forests which the Soviets wrested back from Nazi invaders. soviet investigators :: They concluded that the killings were by three executioners: this was the conclusion of the investigating Soviet officers during ww2. They concluded that exactly three pistols were used, by looking up the forensics of the case and in looking up the bullet fragments. The Soviet investigators blamed three Nazi mad soldiers of of the Third Reich: The investigators claimed three Germans had likely killed the Polish officers in the Katyn Forests during ww2, by using Walther P38 handguns (pistols). As there are no witnesses it is more likely that the three soldiers were of Soviet national origin. Actually, very likely (there were no witnesses who could corroborate) three fellow prisoners of war in the POW camp mostly inhabited by Polish POW had forcibly made Soviet soldiers to shot the 15,000 Polish officers in the Katyn forests, most likely. Actually, three mad Soviet soldiers were rounded up and interviewed: they said they were prisoners along with the Polish army, and they said that , under duress from Nazi military officers in the Nazi confinement area in Russia they had just shot about 100 Polish officers each for a grand total of three hundred Polish officers killed by the three Soviet prison camp run and managed by Nazi Germany under Hitler. This was because the Nazi Germans had coerced the three Soviet soldiers to shoot down 100 Polish fellow prisoners each. The three Soviet soldiers said that the rest (about 14,700 Polish prisoners of war in the same POW as the Soviet soldiers , all fenced up in Katyn camp run by the invading Nazi Germans. The three claimed 14,700 prisoners were shot down by Germans while 300 were shot down under duress by three Soviet soldiers. The 14,700 Polish officers were were shot by Nazi officers in the camp where the three Soviet soldiers were housed. the three men claimed many more Polish prisoners (about 14,700 Polish officers) shot were by German officers, who were also of officer rank. My personal opinion is that both sides were telling the truth. The Invading German armies nad insufficient food to feed prisoners. Near Katyn forests, there were both Soviet prisoners of war and Polish prisoners of war. So, 300 (small number) Polish officers, or 5000 Polish prisoners of war (big number) were massacred by three fellow prisoners of war of Soviet national origin in KATYN FOREST. In that same Nazi prisoner of war fenced area BECAUSE of shortage of food among the German armies. The reason for killing Polish officers:: due to shortage of food, the remaining Polish prisoners of war earlier rounded up by Nazi Germany had killed about 10,000 Polish of war were killer by Nazi German soldiers and officers. The bodies were discovered in mid 1943, while the massacre occurred in German POW camps close to the Katyn forest on March 5, 1942 just over a year later. The German propaganda machine changed the date of massacre.

Two Soviet prisoners of war surrendered to Soviet forces along with Nazi prison guards. After surrender to Soviet allied forces near Katyn, two Soviet prisoners of war lodged in the same POW prison claimed the killings were done by mostly Nazi Germans in March 5th 1942. Other Axis German army groups (not the German prison guards at the Katyn POW prison, located 100 miles away from Katyn) found bodies in April 1943. Stalin had declared in about 1944 that any Axis soldier or Nazi German officer in the eastern front (of Germany) who had earlier committed extensive war crimes will be kept in Soviet run POW prisons for ten (10) years, until 1954 or 1955. Despite committing a handful of war crimes, the Nazi prison guards and Nazi prison army officers of a prison situated about 100 miles from Katyn survived ww2 by stating to Soviet officials that they will embrace communism and enroll every villager in their home village in Germany, by enrolling villagers into some new communist party of Germany, if allowed to go back to Germany very soon after capture. The Soviet political officers (political officers often had a college degree, or were bit more educated and a few spoke decent German or Italian or Hungarian) told the Axis forces and prison guards that the Soviet army officials which just happened to pass through Katyn will get back to Moscow by telephone and wireless telegram on the offer by some prison guards to teach German villagers the concepts of communism and Karl Marx if allowed to go home early, without prosecution of war crimes. The surviving duo among the three Soviet prisoners of war lived with the Polish officers as fellow inmates and fellow prisoners of war. Eye witnesses of Katyn killings:: The two surviving Soviet prisoners of war claimed that vast majority of Polish prisoners were killed by Nazi prison guards (about 50 shot at Poles) and Nazi prison military officers (about three shot at Poles), and three Soviet fellow prisoners of war. After their third Soviet prisoner of war in the same Nazi run POW prison killed himself with the P38 service pistol. Duo (other two soviet prisoners of war) claimed the suicide man definitely killed 100 Poles before killing himself. The duo claimed to Soviet political officers who first reached their area that thee two Soviet prisoners missed their Polish targets when ordered to shoot the 100 Polish prisoners of war one at a time, and that the surviving duo were not murderers of Poles. The two surrendered to Soviet forces advancing towards Katyn forests, making a suspicious statement that they didn't murder any fellow prisoner and that the duo committed no war crimes in the past few months and years. The surviving duo claim to have killed nobody, while also making a statement that the third Soviet prisoner out of the three killed 100 Poles when ordered to do so by Nazi prison guards. both claimed (including Blockhin) that they would never ever obey the Nazi officers and prison guards standing behind them during times of executions, unlike the third Soviet prisoner of war who committed suicide. The Soviet duo further claimed that they were not murderers as all 100 Polish prisoners survived without so much as a single drop of blood, two Soviets claimed, and that they were assigned to shoot at by coercion. They told Soviet interrogators they were afraid of persecution by allied soldiers as they had fired about 100 bullets towards Polish prisoners, as per orders from German officers in the Axis POW camp. The two claimed that three Soviet prisoners of war had just been ordered to kill Poles, but they did not shoot to kill, both claimed. The two Soviet prisoner in to Nazi prison camp meant to house most Poles. the duo claim that after shooting the 100th Pole without killing any Polish prisoner, who was a fellow prisoner, the third Soviet soldier committed suicide. after the suicide, the Soviet prisoners cum executioners were hurriedly sent back to inmate baracks of the Nazi operated prison on March 5th 1942, both Soviet prisoners claim. After the third Soviet prisoner was sent back to the prisoner barracks, the execution by three German officer and about 50 Nazi prison guards started in earnest, some time around March 5th 1942, as claimed by former poisoners of war Mr. Blockhin, one of the three Soviet prisoners forced by Nazi officers to execute just a few of the 16000 Polish prisoners. The purpose of the Nazi propaganda was to destroy the alliance between Soviet Union of the west. The Soviet armies advancing westwards in about 1944 towards formerly Nazi occupied Katyn forests noticed two men in dirty Soviet army uniform trying to hide among men in Nazi army uniform of prison guards: they were trying to escape: Both claimed to be German nationals in halting German with an accent and had no dog tags or identification papers, unlike the German prison guards. they tried to retreat and hide among the Nazi guards (who were wearing somewhat cleaner German army uniforms) who seemed to know them well. Germans in Nazi uniform were of Nazi guards of Axis POW prison camps of the general area about 100 miles from Katyn. One man in dirty Soviet uniform had a name, and was Mr. Blokhin. When arrested, both men falsely claimed to be German nationals, adding that they committed no crimes in the past few months. The Germans even seemed to be their buddies. The two arrested Soviet soldiers were white guys and pretended to be German nationals to the interrogating Soviet army officials, which had just arrested the two along with the Nazi soldiers and Nazi prison guards. When interrogated by slightly more educated Soviet political officers of the Soviet army, the Soviet duo near Katyn forests who were pretending to be Germans could not name a single German province such as Bavaria. More investigations and interrogations followed, and this was by Soviet investigators::: Based on their answers to questions by Soviet official(s), who found them fighting alongside Nazi prison guards and limited forensic tests with magnifying glasses: what the duo did during ww2 period of Axis occupation of the Katyn forests: Conclusions:: More likely, the three men killed are lying: More likely the three Soviet prisoners of war killed about 1000 Polish officers and fellow prisoners in this Nazi controlled POW prison camp about 100 miles from Katyn. They decided that Nazi border guards likely killed 15000 Polish officers. Two or three Soviet ex prisoners of war killed 1000 Polish ex officers:: The rest of the skeletons were likely Soviet nationals and likely ethnic Russian Nazi victims of Nazi battles, as some men were wearing white sweaters and skirts and civilian clothes, the investigators decided. Border Polish guards of recent times tell young visitors from Russia coming to buy Polish sausages, "You are no longer welcome, based on some allegations. During ww2, Some Polish prisoners of war living as inmates in a Nazi POW prison camp with three POW's of Soviet national origin were supposedly killed by either Germans or Soviets. We cannot raise a hue and cry against Germans because we got five provinces from Germans as war reparations after ww2. When we gained land with houses from Germany, the beauty of the average Polish houses increased. " The two Soviets say the date of Massacre was March 5th 1942, as the two were right there as fellow inmates to the 16000 Polish officers. Both spoke limited German they likely learnt from the German prison guards in the POW prison camp 100 mils from Katyn forests. Some people of German origin say the date of massacre was march 5, 1941. Others say the day of massacre was March 5th 1942. Soviet investigators :: They concluded that the killings of 1000 victims with small bullet holes were by three executioners. Others had big bullet holes of rifles of Nazi era rifles: this was the conclusion of the investigating Soviet officers during ww2. They concluded that exactly three pistols were used, by looking up the forensics of the case and in looking up the bullet fragments. The Soviet investigators blamed three Soviet prisoners of war and Nazi prison guards , plus Nazi mad soldiers of of the Third Reich: The investigators claimed three Germans had likely killed the Polish officers in the Katyn Forests during ww2, by using Walther P38 handguns (pistols). As there are no witnesses it is more likely that the three soldiers were of Soviet national origin had killed anywhere from 100 Poles (killed by suicide man, a Soviet prisoner) to 1000 Poles (Hundred skills had small bullet holes in Katyn. The surviving duo out of the trio ordered by Nazi officers said that the two Soviet prisoners fired the German guns away from Polish prisoners of war, just to graze the hair of the Polish officers. Gun was given by the German officers and Nazi prison guards standing right behind, who were coercing them, both claimed. They were relieved by German prison guards only after the third Soviet prisoner committed suicide, both claimed, and Germans resumed prisoners right after the suicide. Both claimed they slept in the prisoner baracks, after a Nazi meal meant for German officers in prison..

It was the Soviet NKVD who killed all the 22.000 Polish officers, this is heavily documented several years ago. It was the Soviets that held the area the bodies were found in at the time they were massacred. President Boris Jeltsin also admitted this.

dear krêtin, you are arguing with Nuremburg. With what was concluded at Nuremburg trials.
You literally eat a bs story of a German colonel following a wolf to discorver, that during the winter of 1942-1943 a wolf used their claws to undug a hole with human bones. That's a true Poland patriot moment: blindly believe the people who in your contry made hundreds of thousands to perish during a few years. Because of your bias and emotions.@@christianvik3400
