The fact Travis could run with Ricky on more or less just natural talent is insane. He never had the focus to do what it takes to win a championship against a guy like RC, but he did a hell of a job of just sending it. Ultimately freestyle was definitely the best path for him, but it would have been amazing to see TP stick to a solid program and reach his potential in SX. Imagine a 4 way battle between Travis, Ricky, Chad, and Stew for an entire season. It would have been legendary. Sadly, it was never meant to be, but Travis found his place in the world of moto and ultimately did more for the sport in his own way than he ever could have as a racer. He really is one of the most important riders in the history of dirtbikes and helped elevate all disciplines of riding/racing into the mainstream world.
Yeah, Trav didn't win premier class championships however he made himself a household name! Tackling almost every motorsport/action sport and his upbringing with free style! Travis is a Legend when it comes to Variety of Sports, while Carmichael can Claim the GOAT of Motocross. If Travis still continued to Pursue Championships he wouldn't have the icon status he has today! How can you NOT like Travis Pastrana!!
I think a lot of riders have the skills to be champions but that last 1% takes 100x more effort. Carmichael continued to improve every race and the more difficult the track was the bigger his led would get remember that mud race he lapped everyone and when he won the mxon on that cr250 against 400cc 4 strokes . Not even James Stewart giving it everything Carmichael would just ride faster. Carmichael would say James would make him ride outside his comfort zone i think that was Carmichael being respectful and would never let him take the championship away from him. Humble guy for what he achieved
Dirt bike ALONE Ricky. All of MOTORSPORTs TRAVIS!!! (Not even a competition) Remember Ricky tried NASCAR and wasn’t even close. Travis finished 11th at the Daytona 500 (leading laps) and not counting all the other accomplishments in various motorsports disciplines. Motocross riders know Ricky…..the entire WORLD knows Travis!! No contest
Carmichael was all business. He went to the test track to work. Pastrana was an undisciplined variable that would have been a distraction, at best, in that environment. If TP had possesed a fraction of RC's focus,,,,, there's no telling what he could have done in racing.
I don’t think so and neither does he and he even admitted it. You gotta have that dog alpha mentality and Travis is just a nice dude who can rip a bike hard but never had that mentality
I'm a fan of Travis, and he's a legend in freestyle, but he is nowhere near the GOAT in MX or SX. His best season in the 250 class was a 16th place finish...Carmichael went undefeated twice, three if you count overalls. 15 Championships. Until that record falls, the word GOAT should not be used to describe another racer. The word GOAT is being thrown around way too freely.
@@Suckitupbuttercup407 ok. The goat of Motorsport is Richard Petty then. 200 wins to 150 for Ricky. Travis has done more in many motor sport vehicles then Ricky could ever dream of. Ricky is the Goat of MX/SX not Motorsport.
@@SOFTAILX ok that’s a fair arguement that goes along with the point of this. Good job talking about something that works with the point of the conversation

What an injury I didn't think it was possible to blow everything around the knee
And then ride with it, and then pass the Goat.
Yea, the whoops used to be Ricky's weakest point and TPs strongest, but Travis was just massively injury prone
Ricky is still the only person to lap the whole field in a race and in the mud non the less

100%
If Travis never got injured Would he been a 250/450 supercross champion??
He had the skills to do it. We will never know, sadly.

@@michaelknabusch6011 yea I did see a interview. He like having fun on a bike

TP is the goat of action sports.
That’s why it’s called gost of motorsports… you just want to comment to talk

Ricky was the most talented dirt bike rider Travis was more talented at everything else
McGrath and travis were more talented than Carmichael in my opinion, but he outworked them
Just mute not beep. Same effort zero annoyance
